Draft Guide goes live April 5th!!!
Chiefs are starting 4 backup OL and playing in the Super Bowl
They started 3 of those backups for ~75% of the year... and are playing in the Super Bowl
After the Chargers went up 10-0, the Chiefs defense forced a punt on 6 of the next 8* Chargers’ possessions.
They only allowed 75 yards on those 6 possessions.
That should be one of the main stories from the game.
SF didn't just "stop running because"
Chiefs' constantly put 5 down on the LoS and altered their LB alignment/depth to take away zone angles & double teams on their DTs.
Just like with Bal in the AFCCG, it's not always as simple as "bad coaching" when a team doesn't do X or Y
The good news is when the Chiefs' aren't hitting themselves in the face with a brick, the offense looks good and clean.
The bad news is they keep hitting themselves in the face with a brick.
MVS gets to go out a hero for the Chiefs for back to back SB runs, hits Free Agency at a decent age for him as a proven winner, and KC gets some very worthwhile cap savings.
Wins all around
For half a decade, Mahomes was entirely inevitable. No matter the matchup, the situation, or what it looked like.. no team felt comfortable seeing him at QB across from them.
This year's version of the Chiefs has completely broken him and that feeling.
Ppl seem to have a weird obsession over the amount of OL holding calls in a Super Bowl. Quick search found it's not called often in the SB. No surprise...
2023: Chiefs 0, 49ers 1
2022: KC/Phi 0
2021: Rams 1, Bengals 0
2020: Tampa 0, Chiefs 3
2019: KC/SF 0
2018: NE 0, LA 2
The Cardinals are choosing a HC soon and deciding between:
A) a defensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy hung 23 points on in a win
and
B) a defensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy hung 31 points on in a win
but NOT
C) Eric Bieniemy
Important and likely last day in the HC coach carousel:
— Shane Steichen’s deal with the
#Colts
is on track to be finalized.
— The
#AZCardinals
will make a decision on their next head coach following Jonathan Gannon’s interview Monday.
Media is focusing TOO MUCH on “Kyle really wants this SB after losing the last one” and not enough on “The Chiefs remember what it’s like losing with a chance at back to back SB wins”.
National NFL coverage is so bored of the Chiefs, every podcast/talk show has spent 2 days talking about how close the Chargers are and how they shot themselves in the foot..
And like 4 seconds on the Chiefs coming from behind to beat them in the fourth quarter.
good look at Baltimore's simulated pressure package & the OL reaction. 5 men up, a 6th lurking, and 4 rush. OL gets help from the WR bumping the blitzing DB and throwing off the timing. good job by Trey Smith finding work once the center can bump him off. eyes snap right outside.
The most egregious and blatant offensive pass interference by Marquez Valdes-Scantling that wasn’t called on that last drive. Three incompletions later, referees flag Derwin James for “holding”. Can’t tell me the NFL favors their new golden boy Mahomes.
Need a little pick me up about the Chiefs?
Wanya Morris played extremely well last night!
- kicked ass in the run game
- no significant drop off in pass pro
- scheme didn’t have to change to protect him
Mahomes was "under pressure" on 12 drop backs (36.1%). He went 6/12 for 106 yards, 2 TDs, and 1 sack.
Herbert was "under pressure" on 16 drop backs (36%). He went 8/16, for 43 yards, 0 TDs, and 2 sacks.
The worst part about this play?
The NE defender that ran into Rice prevented Rice from being wide open for a TD after he out-leveraged the guy in coverage.
Not only did the DB prevent a TD, he got a penalty called on the Chiefs.
Chiefs had the 3 fastest ball carriers (via GPS tracking) in the Super Bowl
Mecole Hardman 19.92mph
Travis Kelce!!! 19.68mph
Rashee Rice 19.37mph
Next up for the Chiefs was Patrick Mahomes at 10th fastest working at 17.61mph!!
Officially opting out of any Felix Anudike-Uzomah agenda discussion this year.
A 21 year old, raw athlete learning how to play w/ technique/ nuance (known pre-draft) is competing in a room that has:
Omenihu
Karlaftis
Danna in a contract year
and Chris Jones
getting snaps at DE
Hear me out;
Melvin Gordon or Todd Gurley.
Wanna maximize your cash over your career? Sign a 1 year deal for low to moderate cash with Andy Reid. Produce like crazy because Reid, look good again, cash in next year.
Kansas Citians
In 5 playoff games for the Chiefs. Sammy Watkins averaged over 90 yards/game on over 4 catches/game.
18 of his 24 catches have gone for first downs.
Everything about this throw.
- setting the protection
- the deep drop
- sliding away from the free rusher
- the fadeaway rocket perfectly on the money 44 yards in the air
I’ve seen Home Alone ~25 times and it wasn’t until this most recent time I realized the dad threw away a plane ticket when cleaning up spilled milk at the beginning.
That’s why they never had an extra ticket 🤯🤯
Something KC fans will appreciate about MVS that can't be said for all WRs in the NFL or on their roster...
He runs his routes through contact. CBs, safeties, LBs.. doesn't matter, he'll dip a shoulder/get skinny and stay on his path through the contact.
“Hey here is a fully gtd offer that makes you the third highest paid defender in the NFL despite never being DPOY or leading the league in sacks… and being 29 at a position that usually falls off by 31… do you wanna accept?”
“Naw, I’m good I want more”
Find it humorous that the Chiefs had no punter signed for next year, signed a guy that was ordained the “Punt God”, and this guy has non-football storylines at play…
YET the TL is filled with “Can the PUNT GOD hold though?!?!”
The Kingdom is built different 😂
