The best gift. SO SO excited to join the University of Kentucky’s MD/PhD program. I am extremely thankful for all of my mentors who have helped me thus far. I cannot wait to be a

The first day of orientation & our M2 tour guide calls me a gunner for already being involved in research when I’m literally required to do a research rotation over summer for MD/PhD😭 awesome 👍🏼
From volunteering at the hospital at 16 to interning/scribing in undergrad to working as a scientist and now finally an entering as an MD/PhD student. Eternally grateful for each of these experiences 🥺
*Guy from school asked me about my workout goals bc we see each other at the gym a lot…*
Me: I’m working towards 10 pull ups.
Him: what kind of pulls ups?
Me: what do you mean?
Him: real pull ups? Military style?
Me: I think so? *pulls out this video*
Him: … 😳
What really sucks is the fact that one bad test grade will drop your grade 5% and one great test grade will raise it back up .285%... so basically school sucks.
I am extremely grateful to have been nominated and awarded the SIU SOM Hemal Vakharia Memorial award this year😊
Big thank you to
@HascupLab
for supporting and believing in me.
Congratulations to the winners of the 2022 Pharmacology Memorial Awards -- Melissa Roberts, Danny Holtz & MaKayla Cox. SIU School of Medicine salutes you!
After the worst year.... I am thankful to make it to 21. Spent the day quarantined from my family.. but was still able to see them through a glass door 🥺
Overnight, my family lost our 7 month old puppy to a currently unknown illness that killed her in less than 24 hours. I can only hope she’s in doggy heaven now🥺🥺
They ask you what you want to be... you tell them. They tell you you’re too young to know.
You ask them what they do... they tell you that you wouldn’t understand.
Often my experience in science/healthcare.
My last time leaving the lab I’ve worked in for 3ish years… I can’t express how thankful I am to have had such a fantastic undergraduate experience in research. Feeling a little emotional 🙁
A younger undergrad I’ve been helping this past year asked me to meet up today.
He thanked me and gave me this sweet little gift and told me in Turkish culture, lady bugs are called luck bugs and he wanted me to have all the luck 🥺🥺
It started with Dr. Sofia Ionescu, Dr. Diana Kinloch Beck, and Dr. Dorothy Klenke Nash. Thank you for opening the door for female Neurosurgeons.
Can't stop us now.

My sister was in health class and she saw a slide show of dicks with STDs and asked her health teacher “Why’re they showing all tip here and no shaft? I need some shaft action.”

Yesterday while scribing, one of my absolute favorite ED docs gave me a suture kit to practice at home😭 This comes after I told her I’m stressed about not doing well on MCAT/not getting accepted next application cycle. I am so thankful for her..
1 year ago today, I had minimally invasive knee surgery that resulted in a DVT subsequently followed by 2 PEs.
In this past year, I’ve learned a lot.
