Sources: Yankees initial offer to left-hander Carlos Rodón was in the 5 year, 125 million dollar range. Rodón's camp found that offer to be quite low, but no other team is yet to top it. NYY is likely to go higher if necessary, considering this was their first offer.

NYY won’t go quietly after Judge. They are preparing to make an offer for left-hander Carlos Rodón, and pursuing a corner outfielder (Masataka Yoshida, Andrew Benintendi, amongst others). NYY loves the idea of a Cole-Rodón 1-2, with Severino/Cortes Jr/Montas back-end.

The Yankees were “a minute” away from trading for Pablo López at the deadline. Miami ownership pulled the plug at the last possible second. Would have sent an upper minors infielder and outfielder to Miami. This did not impact NYY’s plan to move LHP Jordan Montgomery to STL.

Royce Lewis was the 1st overall pick in 2017. He’s dealt with injuries and under performance, and is now finally getting a shot at being a full time player in 2023. Through 177 PAs, he has an .907 OPS and 149 wRC+. This needs to be talked about more.
