Those of us who wear masks, who choose to be safe during the pandemic, are now completely on our own. Our leaders have abandoned us. The media has abandoned us. In many cases, even our families and friends have abandoned us. All we have is our resolution to do the right thing.

The situation at In-N-Out Burger (masks banned for employees) is a stark warning of what is to come. First, masks are banned for employees of businesses. Next, masks are banned for customers. Finally, masks are banned everywhere, in every setting. This must not be accepted.

Because I am nearly 70, I accept that I will never see the "end" of the pandemic. I will never again know a world that is not cursed with the mass illness and mass mortality that results from Covid-19. Perhaps it could have been different, but too many people chose to be selfish.

Pandemic, May 2023: Covid-19 is everywhere, including hospitals and schools. Masks are not required, and the public believes that masks are not needed. Current vaccines are weak against new variants. Mass illness and excess mortality continue to increase. No end in sight.

I fear that most people, including many who wear masks, do not grasp the full extent of what the pandemic represents. It is not merely a thorny problem that is being "badly handled." It is much worse: it now has the appearance of being a signpost to a dark age of profound misery.

If a person is not willing to do the right thing during a pandemic (which, at the very least, would mean wearing a mask), it can be taken as clear sign that they would probably not be willing to do the right thing in any other situation, and therefore, should never be trusted.

Everyone should be required to wear a mask during the pandemic, but even if every person in the world wore a mask, it would not take us back to "normal," because "normal" is gone forever. Wearing a mask should be seen as an urgent attempt at survival, not as a definitive remedy.

Our leaders know that, having succeeded in removing masks from medical settings, no evil act is forbidden now. They will conclude, quite correctly, that if the public is willing to accept a total lack of safety in healthcare during a pandemic, the public will accept anything.

The pandemic is a battle of wills. Our leaders are determined to grind us down, to force us into a servile life of continual infection. For many of us who dare to resist, courage and resolve are starting to wear thin, but we must hang tough. We must never give up, never give in.

In the fourth year of the pandemic, with Covid-19 everywhere, repeated infections rampant, mass illness and excess mortality at record highs, negligence becoming standard, and casual denial prevailing, the difficult question that arises is, "Where are we likely to go from here?"

We who wear respirator masks to avoid uncontrolled Covid-19 are a breed apart. We are steadfast in doing what is necessary to maintain safety, and we are not afraid to go against the grain of overwhelming denial. We are hugely outnumbered, but we are firmly in the right.

Requiring masks in all public indoor spaces is the absolute least that must be done, if we are ever to make a start at controlling the spread of Covid-19. Requiring masks is clearly an urgent necessity, but to be effective, it must be done everywhere, and it must be done soon.

The pandemic appears to be taking the worst course that it could take. In 2023, Covid-19 is spreading freely everywhere. All safety measures are gone. Mass illness and excess mortality are increasing daily. Everything is at stake: our health, our morality, our future, our lives.

Every person must decide where they will stand within the ongoing pandemic. Wear a mask, or embrace infection? Try to restrain the virus, or help to spread it? Uphold public health, or accept collective illness? Choose safety, or choose danger? Show kindness, or show selfishness?

If you truly understand the extreme dangers of Covid-19, you will do whatever is necessary to avoid infection.

People want to be hopeful about the pandemic, but the current outlook is dismal. I am old, so I have no thought of "surviving," but I do intend to go down with my integrity intact, which is why I will continue to affirm that stopping the spread of Covid-19 is a moral necessity.

Although I miss the life that I had before the pandemic, I understand that it will never return. That life was never perfect, but it was more pleasing than my life has been since the pandemic began. I know, however, that Covid-19 does not care how I feel, one way or the other.

For the current generation of young people, there are no "future prospects." Because of Covid-19, many young people of 2023 will never grow old. Many will not survive into middle age. Many children will not reach their teen years. Repeated infections will destroy them.

Most people do not understand the danger of Covid-19. Most people do not even want to understand the danger, preferring to rely on denial. If most people did understand the danger of Covid-19, they would never, never, never, never allow themselves to be infected.

If anyone in your household is not wearing a mask in all public spaces, it is inevitable that, sooner or later, everyone in your household will be infected by Covid-19.

By this time next year, after 12 more months of uncontrolled contagion, the full horror of Covid-19 will be bearing down heavily upon us, leaving no doubt that the future of mankind has been fatally compromised. By then, public carelessness will be giving way to fear and regret.

Any policy that fails to require masks in all medical settings, during a pandemic in which a potentially fatal virus is being transmitted from person to person through the air, is a deliberate act of mass murder. #COVID19 #CovidIsNotOver #KeepMasksInHealthCare #WearAMask

Call me a "conspiracy theorist," but I believe that wealthy capitalists are engaged in a brutal conspiracy of cunning evil (starting wars, polluting our planet, spreading fatal diseases, stealing from the poor), and I do, indeed, have a number of "theories" about that conspiracy.

The pandemic constitutes a ruthless assault on human morality. Denying the danger of Covid-19 has, in itself, become a kind of virus. Most people are now acting wrongly, as German citizens did during the Nazi years: accepting, supporting, and enabling policies of monstrous evil.

I will soon be 70. If I was a young person today, I would be unsparingly angry at those members of the older generation who have lied, cheated, waged constant wars, wrecked the climate, and allowed the spread of Covid-19, making a selfish, immoral, murderous mess of the world.
