McCook Community College sophomore Max Mrakovcic has been named the Region IX Baseball Pitcher of the Week.
Against Trinidad on Friday, Mrakovcic pitched seven innings, allowed four hits, no earned runs and struck out a season-high 10 hitters.
Nine members of the 2024 McCook Community College baseball team have earned Region IX post-season honors. The Indians placed one player on the first team, four on the second team, one on the all-defensive team and three players received honorable mention.
The McCook Community College baseball team opens the season Friday in Dallas with a three-game series against Dallas College Brookhaven. Friday's doubleheader starts at noon with a 1 p.m. start in the Saturday series finale.
MCC freshman Louie Tucker has signed a letter of intent to play basketball next season with Stetson University, a D1 school in DeLand. Fla.
Tucker was third team all-Region IX, Omaha WH All-Midlands JUCO team and all-NCCAC.
He averaged 14.3 points and 6.6 rebounds per game.
MCC freshman Cory Wouters has been named the Region IX Player of the Week for Feb. 5-11.
Wouters, from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, hit .677 with a double, a home run, three runs scored, two RBIs and a walk.

McCook Community College sophomore outfielder Daegen Morcom, has signed a letter of intent to continue his baseball career at Valley City State University, an NAIA school in Valley, City North Dakota.
6 MCC students were named top teammates in their sport: Ethan Murdoch, Trey Summers, Payton Craw, Cassidy Fife, Taryn Lindsey, and Makayla Brown.
Lindsey won the Holly Myers Top Female Teammate and Murdoch the Myron Mingo Top Male Teammate.

Zach Lane of Phoenix, Ariz. has signed on to pitch for Holy Family University a D2 school in Philadelphia.
“A lot of prayer and discussions with his family led me down this path,” he said.
He's appeared in 7 games with a 1-0 record in 18 IP has 11 ks with a 4.91 ERA.

For the second day in a row some clutch eighth-inning hitting propelled the MCC baseball team to another win in the region – this one a 10-6 win over Otero to propel the team into its first ever Region IX championship appearence Sunday at UCHealth Field.

The MCC volleyball team swept Lamar Community College Friday in the Peter and Dolores Graff Events Center. The Lady Indians won 25-18, 25-21 and 25-11.
The win was the 150th career win for MCC Coach Hayley Kobza.

MCC won 16-5 and 14-7.
The McCook Community College baseball team downed Lamar Saturday 20-13 to advance to the Region IX final four tournament in Colorado Springs, Colo.
