@Tesco
a lady heard me talking about school and asked if I was a teacher, when I replied yes she said what a brilliant job we are all doing. This was the 1st time during the pandemic I’ve heard something positive about teachers. It was a lovely moment 😍
I really do get fed up with people telling me I should be a deputy or a head teacher. I don’t want that role. I’m not sure why being a teacher doesn’t seem to be enough long term and why leadership is expected🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️
#teachertwitter
Started a new initiative today ‘The Fantasic Friday Phone Call’ I rang three parents to tell them how wonderful their kids are. What a lovely way to engage with parents and pass along the love 💓 ❤️💓
We are happy to be in school and stick to the rules but when, as staff, we hear children talking about what they are up to out of school- and their families very clearly not sticking to the rules- it makes us cross, it’s not fair!
#COVID19
We do a Christmas shopping night for parents every year and keep the kids until 7. Tonight we had 130 children stay for after school activities, a movie, popcorn and a bite to eat. 🎅🏽

Head teachers I’m sorry that life at the moment is so hard. I’m sorry the government have let you down, I’m sorry the DFE have been as useful as a chocolate kettle but know that your staff are appreciative of all you do. You’ll be a rare breed- not sure how many people
Please help us find our younger brother. He was last seen near Kings Cross, London. We are very concerned. Please share. A couple of sightings but nothing concrete.
Harry if you see this, we love you and want to make sure you’re ok. Please contact

Son is 21 in December. Thinking of doing 24 hours in Paris. Dinner, drinks, jazz club (he loves music particularly jazz) Do you think that’s cool or is it a rubbish idea? Opinions appreciated.
I am 47. My pensionable age is 67. I do not intend to teach for another 20 years. I don’t think I could! What are you teachers out there doing when leaving the profession?
Does anyone else still remember their national insurance number off by heart? My son doesn’t have a card just a slip of paper whereas at 16 when we got ours, we carried them with us x
This was the activity I did with my new year 5s and this is the display they’ll walk into on the first day back of the new academic year.

My teen clearly thinks I’m a fool! I go away for a night & conveniently the wifi goes down so I can’t see the video doorbell. 🤷🏻♀️ I did take a photo of my booze cupboard before going because funnily enough- I remember what teenage me would do! Shocker- a party was had! 🤦🏻♀️
When you’re recalling your class without a list does everyone imagine the class seating plan in their head and then ALWAYS every single time forget one person… or is it just me? 🤪🤪🤪
I’m in school this week and my husband just told me he’s much more productive when I’m about- I asked him why and he said it’s because he wants to impress me. How lovely is that? Not bad going for a couple who have been married for 20 years! X
Please help us find younger brother. He was last heard from at the end of January with supposed sightings near Kings Cross, London.
We are very concerned. Please share far and wide.
Harry if you see this, we love you and want to make sure you’re ok. Please contact

I have a list of reading challenges I’ve made. I cut them up and put them in envelopes for the children to choose which one to do and they stick them in their reading records. If anyone wants a copy, I’m really happy to share. There are about 40 in total. (KS2)
This morning a little old lady was walking past me. She was rocking a matching Alice band and face mask in black velvet with diamanté stars on. I told her she looked fabulous, she said the comment had made her day. If you have a compliment, share it, it costs nothing x
Christmas presents for my class. Little jars with jelly sweets and a Christmas decoration with their name on. Please don’t @ me about buying presents/being sweet related- I’m too tired to deal with negativity, just scroll on by! Hope everyone has a wonderful last day!

When you liked my tweet the other day and I was as giddy as a kipper about it, someone told me it wouldn’t be you to which I was appalled and vehemently put them in their place. 😘😘😘
Just because your child qualifies for a key-worker place doesn’t mean you should take it. Please only use your school IF there is NO OTHER OPTION.

If you are a teacher with a passion for reading for pleasure please give me a follow so I can follow back. I’m also looking to connect with any primary school librarians and anyone who is involved in well-being and pastoral care in primary. Thanks in advance. X
Just had a lovely moment with the teen. Firstly a rare photo together and then this little exchange.
Me- you’ve never been embarrassed by us have you?
B- why would I? All you’re doing is your best- that’s enough for me. 🥰🥰🥰
Will choose to go into headship after this. As if retention in our profession wasn’t bad enough, it’ll now be off the scale.
Know that the headteacher voices on Twitter have been such an important support to many of us over these past few months and I wanted to thank you. 😘😘😘
I do not understand how in a little over 2 weeks the country is going to further open up. Where I live, cases are rising dramatically, schools are shutting, bubbles are bursting and so many people have been impacted by it. This feels worse than the 21st June

If you think someone looks nice, if someone’s doing a good job tell them, if you are thinking kind things about someone, reach out and tell them. Kind words make days- we need to all do this more. If you feel awkward doing this send a voice note or a message- it’s so easy ❤️
Started the job of creating end of year gifts for my year 5s. Personalised mini mug that will be filled with pick n mix (don’t @ me for not being healthy) and wrapped in cellophane. It makes me miss them even more 😘

Catch up with one of my oldest friends today. She’s sold all her worldly goods, bought a 45 foot catamaran and is off to sail around the world with her husband and 4 year old- how incredible is that! 🌎
#aroundtheworld
I’ve just walked to a local coffee shop when I heard “Hi Mrs Griffiths’ and I saw lovely Ben who’s now 17. He applied his staff discount for family and friends to my order and we had a lovely catch up. Teaching is the gift that keeps on giving 💙
Today I kayaked at the lake with year 5 and 6. I swam at lunchtime in our outside pool. The temp was 31°. This afternoon I tunnelled in our caving system with years 3 and 4 and tonight I had dinner with my best teacher friends. Today has been a great day!

The present from our teen was a homemade token book with vouchers for:
🎅🏽 15 homemade dinners 🎅🏽 15 film nights with our choice of movie and he will supply chic of our choice
🎅🏽 50 cups of tea with a biscuit

If anyone sees people sharing displays or pictures of their classrooms today let’s try to only be POSITIVE. If there’s nothing nice to say, here’s an idea.... don’t make a comment. It’s not needed. We should build each other up and support. Be the best of

How do people make big changes with diet/exercise and stick to it? I’ve tried it all and never have a lightbulb moment for long enough to keep it up or off. Tips please people- please don’t tell me to love myself that’s not the advice I’m here for. No gym as in

Currently having a row with my teen about why he can’t go to his friends for a sleepover as they are already a family of eight. His argument is that I teach 30 kids everyday- he’s right but those are the rules.
It’s a blooming tricky time for teens and young people isn’t it? ☹️
Yesterday a child brought me in a punnet of strawberries and today another child brought me in 6 eggs from her chickens. The perks of being a primary school teacher.

My 93 year old grandma who has had Covid TWICE has just come out of hospital after 7 weeks and is now settled into her new nursing home near all her family. What a woman!

I’m so excited for our quiz tonight. We’ve re-enacted iconic film scenes and our friends have to guess what they are from the pics. Here’s a little teaser for you...
Personalised flower pots and seeds as end of year presents for my divine year 5 class. If you buy or don’t buy presents, it’s a choice - this is mine. Please don’t leave negative comments. Scroll on by if you feel any negativity. Lots of love ❤️

I’ve got my class involved in helping me to drink more and stop me eating sweets/biscuits. They are brilliant! My drink bottle is constantly brought to me, they check in to make sure I haven’t eaten something I shouldn’t. They congratulate me for being good. I adore them 🥰🥰
Thank you so much to everyone who shared our post. We’ve been overwhelmed with the love and support shown and today he’s been found. I can’t believe the power of social media. We are beyond grateful to have found Harry.

Thanks everyone for your interest. I’m going to put it on my timeline in next few days so everyone can access. You can then edit them, change them etc for your own use. I hope you find them useful. Can I just ask, if you don’t like them , please don’t @ me 🤣🤣🤣
I don’t want money to buy more stuff, I want money to have new experiences. I want to see The Northern Lights, climb Machu Picchu & The Rainbow Mountains, see whales in Alaska, and gorillas & orangutans in their natural environment. I want to see the world. You need money!

Social distancing is impossible when you have a really sad 10 year old who lost their grandma last night. Being a teacher is so much more than teaching and as hard as life is at the moment, I also feel so privileged to do this job ❤️❤️❤️
My son is home on Monday from uni. This is the longest it’s been ever since I’ve seen him. He went back to Liverpool at the beginning of September- I can’t wait.
When your children become incredible adults, spending time with them really is the best of times! 💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙
Last day tomorrow teachers! What a term. I’m on my knees. It’s been the toughest so far in my career.
I’m off to Morocco on Saturday for a sneaky 4 day break before Christmas. Bring on the sunshine ☀️
I put out some old toys and books for people to help themselves to after having a clear out and I got this note in the post box this morning. I love that a family are enjoying the things Barnaby had when he was little

My brilliant and pioneering Grandma died this morning. Maureen Colquhoun.
She became a Labour MP in 1974 and she made her mark.
She stood strong on subjects of abortion, gender equality, childcare for female MPs and the rights of sex workers. She was fearless.
Honestly after the tiredness of 2 days last week, I’m genuinely concerned as to how I’m going to survive 5 days of teaching. I think us old timers will def be able to empathise with all the NQTs this week. Have a good one everyone 😘😘😘

Teachers who have had experience of a child in their class who has lost a parent- please could you DM me with any help you managed to get. Things that worked. Thank you 🙏
I’m loving my new

sliders. For £6 these beauties are an absolute bargain. Think I’ll be living in these this summer. The comfort level is high!
Super proud of my teen. He’s had a great day. He’s got himself a job teaching a young girl with autism to play the piano because she feels so comfortable with him 🥰 and been picked to play for the under 23s football team. The room tidying from yesterday is forgiven 🤣
Sometimes being the parent of an almost adult is so difficult to navigate. When your child is on the cusp of adulthood it’s unchartered territory. He thought I’d be cooler- I’m definitely not and it can be tough! This parenting lark can be challenging
#teenagers
Grandparents of a child in my class sent biscuits in today for the staff. The message said ‘To an inspirational workforce’
What a lovely gesture ❤️❤️❤️

I know it’s not about followers but I’m blown away that I have 4999 because not too long ago my tweets didn’t get a response and now I have almost 5000 people following me. Thanks 😊
I’m so pleased with my new display in my year 5 classroom and my lovely friend
@17Trenty
put it up for me. Please don’t @ me about any mistakes, if you think displays are pointless or anything negative. If negativity consumes you, scroll on by. Thank you 🙏
This has made me very happy. How cathartic to have sorted the books into colours. I’ve realised how many children’s books and self help books I have! 🌈🌈🌈

@smithsmm
In this profession you are not valued as an experienced teacher. If you are on UP3 with a TLR and don’t want to be a deputy or a head, it won’t be easy to move schools and keep your wage without more responsibility.
I’ve got balloons! 😊 What a lovely touch on your birthday Twitter. 45 today and a second lockdown birthday but my goodness, my friends have gone out of their way to make things special. I feel very lucky indeed 🥰🥰🥰🥰
Relief. Myheadteacher came to find me today to tell me she loved my reports and they showed how well I know the children. She told my class how proud their parents will be when they read them 🥰
@ThisisDavina
I’ve found the local shops seem to store more of the staples than visiting the supermarkets. Signed up tonight for your fitness platform- thank you for this xxx
There’s a passive/aggressive war going on in our house with loo roll. Husband puts it on the wrong way and I quietly change it to its correct position. Never had a convo about it- but happening all the time!

This is the 90s equivalent to the selfie. We used to spend hours and lots of £1 coins in Woolworths on a Saturday afternoon taking pics!

Does anyone remember when we were kids 70s and 80s that bacon used to have little round bones bits in it? I really hope I’m not alone on this one 🤷🏻♀️🤣
The irony of freedom day is our school has been forced to shut. We had a week left & Covid has put a stop to that. Gutted for our year 6 children in particular. Isolation for another 10 days. In the space of 25 days, I’ll have been free for 5! There is no freedom!
#FreedomDay
During the season of goodwill, I thought I’d remind teachers about the app ‘discount for teachers’ It’s blooming great. So many savings. Just saved 25% off a Hotpoint dishwasher. Well worth a visit 🙌🙌🙌
