I just told my husb that women couldn't even get a credit card w/o a male signature until 1974, and he was incredulous. I think a lot of people don't realize that the deep misogyny of this country is so close that it's not even in the rear view mirror. It's here. It never left.

@Liv_F @aswinn Doctors also often used to give serious diagnoses to a woman's husband rather than to her. And sometimes her husband just never told her. Who knows how many women died without ever knowing they were sick
