"I am a woman, I live as a woman, and I dress however I like... That's why when we hear 'Gender Critical' individuals talking about 'proper women' or 'real women' I am gravely worried." - I have written a piece for new, progressive, indy blog

It's sad that these GC women have been gaslighted by an outdated patriarchal system into conforming to a ridiculous outdated stereotype of how women should be. A stereotype drawn up and perpetrated by the patriarchy

@IndyBlether
Hi Kirsty. I am 64. And I believe sex is immutable and gender is a set of social stereotypes imposed on women and men, so I suppose I am “gender critical”. Women of my age and those feminists who came before (and after) have *never* policed what women wear. We burned our bras...
@KirstySNP
@IndyBlether
Kirsty come on, do you really hear gender critical women saying that being a woman is defined by the clothes you wear? That is the exact opposite of what we are saying.
@KirstySNP
@IndyBlether
Please describe what it means to “live as a woman?” 😂😂😂
Do you even hear how sexist that sounds?! There are nearly 4 BILLION women on the planet. The ONLY thing we have in common about the way we live is grappling with a female body. There is no “right way” to be female. 🤦♀️
@KirstySNP
@IndyBlether
Excellent! 👏
I inherited my dad's height and have what my music teacher used to call "piano hands", so I often see "how to spot a trans woman"-type nonsense on here that describes me, a cis woman. I don't understand anyone who wants to gatekeep womanhood.
@KirstySNP
@IndyBlether
Gender critical means that anyone can wear what they like & that biology makes you a man or a woman. Gender identity (which you support apparently) says if you have long hair, wear dresses or like certain stuff you must be a woman despite biology, entrenching 50's stereo types.
@KirstySNP
@IndyBlether
But it isn't true that people are talking about "proper women" or "real women" - at least from the quarter you name. They are talking about women. What is a woman?
@KirstySNP
@IndyBlether
No GC feminist says "real" women. They simply recognise women in every forMINUS gender stereotyping like clothes or hair. Gender stereotyping is ESSENTIAL to transgender ideology but opposed in every way by the GC. You are either spectacularly missing the point or gaslighting
@KirstySNP
@IndyBlether
You have it completely the wrong way around Kirsty. Most CG women are "tom boys" of old - the ones who fought to be allowed to wear trousers at work. It's the gender ideologists who insist clothes, toys etc are gendered and kids not "conforming" need medicalised.
@KirstySNP
@IndyBlether
I don't understand how we smash the patriarchy by inviting people with penises into our club and making the law and statistics around the word "woman" less helpful for us ?
@KirstySNP
@IndyBlether
The only limit GC people put on women is that they be female.
Anything after that is up to the individual.
Perhaps you'd be less "concerned" if you did more listening and less lying.
@KirstySNP
@IndyBlether
A genuine question, Kirsty. You state "Absolutely, biology is real, but it is not possible to tell what chromosomes or genitals someone has by looking at them."
Leaving aside the reality that 'passing privilege' is actually very rare, can you explain why it matters if someone>>>
@KirstySNP
@IndyBlether
People can dress as they like. They can be anywhere on an endless gender curve.
They all deserve respect and have the right to live as they desire.
That however should not impact on other people. Should not make people of any of the two sexes feel unsafe or uncomfortable.
@KirstySNP
@IndyBlether
I'm also a woman and live as a woman, given I am one I have no choice. I also dress however I like. But I live in a society which discriminates against women whatever they wear. I cannot identify out of this. 'GC individuals' talk about women's legal rights as a sex. That's it.
@KirstySNP
@IndyBlether
How does one "live as a woman"?
By being born female and reaching adulthood of course.
'Woman' isn't a performance.
This person is not an actual woman but a transgender identified male or transwoman and that's fine 👇 We support appropriate transgender rights.
@KirstySNP
@IndyBlether
Actually bewildered by that.
A story about how a woman likes to wear Doc Martens and dresses how she likes?
Am I missing something here?
Was that supposed to be anyway relatable to bearded men pretending they're women?
Ye know?
The thing that women are actually concerned about?
