Today, I received my “2023 Georgia Scouts Association Hall of Fame” Ring. It was a privilege getting to share this honor with Pittsburgh Pirates National Crosschecker, Jimmy Lester. Ironically, Jimmy and I began our scouting careers together 33 years ago. ⚾️
For all HS & College baseball prospects. This is spot on from Reds 1B Joey Votto. Couldn’t be more correct. If you cannot time up FB velo @ the higher levels in this game your baseball career won’t last long. As the ole saying goes “The key to hitting a cb-is not to miss the fb.”
As a parent, you must prepare your child for the road—not the road for the child. Rains will fall. Winds will blow. Floods will happen. Prepare your child for life’s difficult roads.
As an MLB scout since the fall of 1991. It is more challenging and difficult today to find baseball players who are Winners. Elite Competitors. High Character Teammates. Leaders. Players that know ‘how’ to play the game and who are not afraid of failure. Be the change!
Pro baseball scouts are not looking for “perfection,” however we are looking for consistent “progress.” The game is based on failures. You will fail—so fail forward!
• Pitch to Kill not to Wound!
• Play the game fearlessly, aggressively, passionately and under control!
We have one chance on this earth to leverage the influence God gives us. Adam Wainwright is making an impact with his life that will long out live him. Well done, Adam!
“In April 14, 2010, I showed up at the clubhouse with a Bible sitting on my chair in my locker. Changed my life. It’s the Bible I read out of today.”
Beautiful story from former Cardinals pitcher Chris Carpenter on Adam Wainwright.
Yearly, I carve out margin in my schedule to scout a few Major League games in order to ‘recalibrate’ my eyes and stay focused after watching so many high school, travel and college baseball games throughout the year. A good exercise for all pro baseball scouts.
Honored to receive the 2021 “Georgia Scouts Association” Scout of the Year. Thank you to my wife, Val for her amazing support the past 30-years and honored to represent the Chicago White Sox organization.
@whitesox
Proud of my daughter Aynsley, a Captain in the USAF 700 Airlift Squadron flying the C-130. Thankful for her commitment and dedication to our Nation. 🇺🇸
Wishing

and

a great future together as they tie the knot today. Wishing I could be there to celebrate your special day together, however NCAA baseball regionals call. Enjoy this special day!
To be a champion in life and in sports, the small things matter. Attention to details matter. No fans. No media. No cheers from thousands of fans. Simply a handful of scouts and parents watching. Watching a team prepare and practice how to line up for the National Anthem. 🇺🇸
If you want to be a successful coach, surround yourself with great coaching minds. If you want to be a successful MLB scout, surround yourself with great scouts. Talk about the game. Ask questions. Don’t think you know it all—you don’t. Remember: A lot more is caught than taught.
A special night at our “2023 Georgia Scouts Association” banquet and awards presentation. Thank you to my family, especially to my wife Valerie for her unconditional support in my baseball career as a scout. And to all of my

honor.
While having breakfast this morning at Waffle House, this team clearly understands the best way to start their shift. What an amazing sight this Christmas season.
@WaffleHouse
The loudest boos will always come from the cheapest seats....People who invest the least in you will have the most to say about you. Trust your work and keep your circle tight.
This is my son. He is a paramedic. He, & other paramedics like him all around America witness on a daily basis what people all around our Nation witnessed last night. I’m amazed by these men and women—and the sacrifice they make everyday to save the lives of people. Well done!!❤️
My daughter, who is a Captain (First Officer) in the USAF flying C-130 Aircraft. Grateful for her service—and for all Military personnel who serve our Nation around the world. 🇺🇸
Sadly, I’ve lost both my dad & my sister in the last 5 weeks. I can’t trace God’s hand at this moment—but I trust His heart. He is Sovereign and in complete control. I trust Him, as He walks (through) the valley of the shadow of death with me. (Psalms 23:4)
“Therefore, [Go and Make Disciples] of all the nations, [baptizing] them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.” Matthew 28:19
What a special day. Getting to baptize a fellow

baseball scout, friend and brother in Christ. No greater calling!✝️
Part of the joy for any Major League Baseball scout is to follow the journey of the players they get in the draft—and then get to celebrate with them when they get called up to the big leagues. Congratulations
@Zachyflat7
I’m beyond proud of you. Welcome to the Big Leagues!
It is said, the two greatest days in a persons life is “The day you were born” and “The day you discover Why you were born.”
I’m thankful I’ve experienced both of those priorities in my life — and that I get to celebrate another birthday with my family and friends today. 🎂 🎉
After years of prayer & vision, my Pastor, Ken Adams and I decided it was time to develop a discipleship book to help Coaches leverage their influence all across America to become Disciples, and Disciple-Makers of Jesus Christ. Stay tuned! More information coming soon.
Christmas Eve & Christmas Day!
I pause to thank so many who sacrifice their personal lives—for the lives of others every Christmas & Holiday season. A special thank you to my son, (An E.R. hospital healthcare professional) and my daughter, (An Airline Pilot). TY both for serving!

@mikelinch
- As of today, our group has multiplied from 4 to nearly 80+. Below is a small picture of this group & God’s amazing faithfulness.
Congratulations to my longtime friend, Tom Clark on being inducted today into the “Georgia Dugout Club Hall of Fame.” Tom is not only a respected friend & fellow MLB pro scout, but also a successful HS & JC Coach in the State of Georgia. Well done “Coach” Clark. Congratulations!
One of my player prospect game cards. Scouts and coaches evaluate ‘every’ aspect of a prospects game—not simply the 5-tools. Your attitude will determine your altitude > the pain of discipline is always [less] than the pain of regret. Effort and attitude ➡️ you control.
The power of unity! Nothing greater than watching 90+ lives of Baseball Coaches & MLB Scouts all across America gather through Zoom every week for bible study, prayer & learning how to Be and Build disciples of Christ. Love these guys.

@mikelinch
Absolutes of good, pure young hitters is their ability to “think hard up the middle” and “drive the ball” to opposite fields. They are way ahead of everyone else. Doubles will turn into HR’s. “Power and Pull” are the last to develop. Don’t teach launch, lift and pull first!!!
Today is a special day. November 6, 1993 I said, “I Do” to this beauty. Today, we celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. Val is loved by so many, but none more than me. She has enriched my life more than words can communicate. Happy 30th Anniversary Val. I love you! ❤️😘🌹
MLB Prospects
The 2022 College and HS baseball seasons will soon begin, and the vast majority of MLB Pro Scouts will evaluate you in one of three categories when it comes to the game you play.
Does this prospect . . .
• Like It?
• Love It?
• Live It?
Choose Wisely!
Nov 18, 2020 was a defining moment in the life of my friend, Dan Drullinger. Dan is a MLB Scout w/ the Baltimore Orioles. Easter week, I had the privilege to baptize him at
@nsckennesaw
Watch and listen to his powerful story.
A picture of servant leadership! Albert Pujols, a future 1st ballot “Hall of Fame” player serving his injured teammate, Justin Turner in a time of need. The world says “serve self first” — God says “serve others, before self.” If serving is beneath you, leadership is beyond you.
After 27 years as a full-time Professional Baseball Scout, I finally received my “MLB Lifetime Pass” from Major League Baseball. Thankful to my wife, Valerie for her never ending support during this long journey.

Player prospect meeting, late nights, long road trips, time away from home, sitting through countless games week in and week out, reports written, videos taken, draft meetings concluded. Wishing all my fellow

In 2019, we launched a

- Multiplying exponentially from 4 to 94 every Monday morning. So thankful for Gods’ faithfulness and for the lives of Coaches & Scouts being impacted across America
Thank you for the countless texts, emails, phone calls & condolences regarding the passing of my father. I’m humbled by the outpouring of love and support from coaches, scouts, coworkers, friends, family members, parents and baseball prospects.

“Someone is sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree a long time ago.”— Warren Buffet
• Summation: Leave a legacy that will far out live you one day. Don’t judge each day by the harvest you reap, but by the seeds you plant.
My friend, and legendary Red Sox scout George Digby passed on a great piece of advice to me as a young scout 32 yrs ago. He said: “Never walk away from a bat. If you think a prospect can hit, don’t walk away just b/c his other tools are short.” Wise advise for young scouts today.
To be in your children’s memories tomorrow, you have to be in their lives today. Each day of our lives we make deposits in the memory banks of our children. They are not good listeners, but they are great imitators—a lot more is caught than taught.
It’s been said, “The two greatest days in a person's life is the day we are born and the day we discover why.”
Lord, thank you today for allowing me to celebrate another birthday and for revealing “Why” You created me.

Thank you,

! I’m grateful on so many levels…Thank you for being an amazing leader, blessing, influence and faithful friend in my life throughout so many years.
Huge shoutout to one of the most incredible men I know
@KevinBurrellMLB
….KB is being inducted into the “Georgia Scouts Hall of Fame”! Huge!!!!!
#livesent
MLB Scouts can identify the character and leadership skills of a prospect they have interest in by the way they speak to their parents. Much more is evaluated off the field, than on it.
Last Wed, I wrapped up investing in a group of 5 high school coaches through 12-weeks of biblical discipleship. I’ve led many groups in my life—this was one of the best!!! Every week these men were (FAT) “Faithful, Available & Teachable.” TY men for “Coaching With Impact” ❤️✝️
A huge congratulations to my daughter, Aynsley for earning her flight wings and is now a “CRJ-900 First Officer” with Endeavor Air, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Delta Air Lines. So proud of your hard work, focus, discipline and dedication. Well done! ❤️
2 years ago this evening I suddenly lost my Dad while driving back home from Statesboro GA. Getting that call was a punch in the gut. My father was my mentor growing up. The legacy he left continues to far out live him today. I miss you Dad, however I’ll see you again one day. ❤️
Heavenly Father, help me to live this day to the full, being true to You, in every way.
Jesus, help me to give myself away to others, being kind to everyone I meet.
Holy Spirit, help me to love those who are lost and hurting, proclaiming Christ in all I do and say.
Amen
Congratulations to my son, Zach on being named to the “KSU Fall 2021 President’s List” with a 4.0 GPA. An amazing accomplishment considering he works full-time as a paramedic medical professional—while in college as a full-time student. Well done, Zach! 👏🏻 🙌🏻 🏫 🚑
This morning, I launched a nine week “315 Leadership” group with these men. All respected coaches & men in the sports they coach & at home. Honored to pour into these men in the weeks to come as they seek to “Live the Life, Lead Others & Leverage their Influence”

“We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps.” Proverbs 16:9
God will never waste your time!
God will never waste your experiences!
God will never waste your waiting!
When you can’t trace God’s hand . . . Trust His heart.
What seperates an average MLB scout from a great MLB scout?
“The ability to trust your gut and instints enough to walk away from a player that other teams might consider a prospect." — Tony Lucadello
Something will grow from all that you’re going through—and it will be you. Stay the course. Don’t quit. Don’t shrink into isolation. God created you unique. He has a plan. He is not finished with you. He is writing your story . . . don’t steal His pen!
I recall scouting RHP Daniel Bard in HS in 2003 (20th round pick) then a (1st round pick) in 2006 UNC. Now, 19 years later, he is reaching his ceiling. The “present and future” scouting grades often take a lot of time to intersect. Be patient!
Anyone who tells you the MLB draft is easy when it comes to drafting players in the first round has no idea what they’re talking about. Case in point from ten yrs ago in the 2013 draft. Let it marinate awhile. Good luck to all my Scouting colleagues and organizations today.
Show me your five closest friends—and I’ll show you your future in five years. Choose your friends wisely, because the ones you choose will determine the quality and direction of your life.
Took a moment to write this out yesterday. Jesus did not wing it day by day. He lived His life intentional. He had a clearly defined mission to complete the work He was sent here to do. That mission has not changed today.
If we work His plan—His plan will work.

Freedom is never free. So on this July 4th, 2022 Independence Day never forget . . .
“Those who drink the water must always remember the ones who dug the well.”
So proud of my 2016,10th round draft pick. 694 milb games and 7 yrs grinding it out for this day. He doesn’t “like it or love it”—He “lives it!!”
Congratulations on an amazing MLB debut. The first plyr in AL history to come off the bench in his MLB debut & reach base 4+ times.
“Bad company corrupts good character”—Show me your five closest friends and I’ll show you who you will be in 5 years. Surround yourself with people who value character and conduct. Your friends will shape your future.
Down 20lbs. Have drastically limited/cut out all sugar’s and carbs that I can. Smaller portion sizes. A more balanced & healthy eating lifestyle. Eating to live not living to eat.
If you are a HS or College coach, lead your players well. Be authentic. Let them into your life. Lead w/ high character, conduct & love. As a coach, you will impact more lives in one year than the average person will in a lifetime. A lot more is ‘caught’ than ‘taught.’
A word of encouragement today: Regardless of what you’re enduring. Remember: Your story isn’t over. Don’t put a period where God puts a comma. God will never waste your time and He will never waste your experiences. He is working in your waiting, and He is writing your story. 🖊️
Out of 100 people, one will read the Bible, the other 99 will read the life of the one who claims to be a Christian. Share God’s love and hope with every person, and if necessary, use words. A lighthouse blows no horn; it only shines.
