It's quite insane that Xbox buys Call of Duty and 10 months later is doing an entire dedicated showcase for Call of Duty, but Xbox has never done this for Halo
Call of Duty 2024 will have its own "Direct" following the Xbox Showcase on June 9th
"We’ll be airing a special deep-dive into the next installment of a beloved franchise. We can’t say much, so for now we’ll call it the Xbox Games Showcase followed by [REDACTED] Direct."
The Modern Warfare 3 Reddit is now complaining about every aspect of the game (movement too fast, TTK being too long, etc), so I think Call of Duty is officially back.
Repullze says Activision told him he can't ask CoD devs about Skill Based Matchmaking. One of the biggest issues the community has, and they still won't talk about it almost 4 years later. Yikes.
The amount of scrolling Sledgehammer Games has to do to find a question to answer in this MWIII AMA thread that is not SBMM is insane. Activision, just say something about it on record already. This is so dumb.
Modern Warfare will be the 9th Call of Duty game I've covered from announce to release on

Still to this day I cannot believe a Call of Duty studio said “we do not want to punish players for firing their weapon” for no red dots on mini map. I cannot believe this was a real blog post.

is the 13th Call of Duty I've covered on

from announce to launch, and this year was the biggest year yet. Almost 2M video views in 12 hours and thousands of new followers. And Warzone 2 still to go. thank you for the support ❤️
Activision says Modern Warfare III has "set records" for the highest player engagement out of the current MW trilogy and Modern Warfare Zombies is the most played Co-Op mode in Modern Warfare history.
The reviews I've seen of MW3 over the last week seem to be from people that don't genuinely understand Call of Duty. The MP is by far the best we've had recently, and these stats suggest that more people are enjoying it too.
One week after
#MW3
launch, here's some interesting stats:
MWIII players across all modes are playing more hours in-game compared to MWII (average hours per user).
MWIII players are averaging more time playing the campaign compared to MWII campaign last year.

Spoke on this about the podcast, but for clarify and transparency, I was not invited to recent events because of being critical of the game and the studio. No hard feelings - we move forward and continue the work to deliver the best COD news on

The problem with Skill Based Matchmaking is that it made players think they are very good at Call of Duty when sometimes they are not. And that results in these false cheater accusations.

Call of Duty HQ system seems way too complicated for casual players. The amount of posts I have seen asking how to install campaign or where to find it is insane.
Microsoft wants Call of Duty to be on Nintendo, PlayStation, Xbox, PC, mobile, and cloud gaming, and the first step towards achieving that is....[checks notes]....lay off a bunch of the staff?? Really??

Started this as a hobby 8 years ago as Call of Duty fans and to have the opportunity to build this brand to where it is today has been absolutely incredible.
Thank you. 💜
The amount of people getting mad about the fact that Xbox is selling well cause of old Call of Duty games working is insane...console fan boys are exhausting and need to find a new hobby. It's a box on your desk.
Call of Duty & Activision's issues have always been centered around 2 things: catering too much to the wrong players and lack of communication.
Both
@CharlieIntel
and
@ModernWarzone
are successful b/c we've been able to understand this community in ways Activision never does.
I just can't believe one year later we're sitting here with Sledgehammer Games fixing almost every piece of feedback we had about MWII MP. We told (and even begged!) Infinity Ward to make changes, and so much of it was all just ignored. "We have the data." Ok.
Ghosts MP, Infinite Warfare MP, MW 2019 MP, and MWII MP all were not great and ranked amongst the worst Call of Duty's by fans. Maybe Infinity Ward can turn things around in 2026, but only if they actually listen to feedback.
I honestly cannot believe that we're about two weeks from Call of Duty Next 2023 event, and the marketing is all "so let's just forget what happened the last 12 months and try again."
It genuinely seems like the Call of Duty haters this year just want everyone to acknowledge that MWIII is a DLC so they can be validated. I don’t understand why people care so much about wording the game as “expansion” vs “full game” but that seems to be the center of the hate.
7 years ago, we created
@charlieintel
to be the best source for Call of Duty news because of how much we loved and played CoD. Today, we hit 1 million followers - a number I never thought we’d reach. So grateful for these last 7 years! Thank you.
Today marks 11 years since
@charlieINTEL
officially started.
Has been a crazy, fun adventure. From starting this out at 14 years old to now 25 years old, it’s been a dream come true.
Here’s to the future 🥂
Crazy to me that MW3, which will have its own campaign, own MP content/modes/maps/etc, and a co-op mode is being called an expansion. That would mean every Call of Duty game is just an expansion.
@ModernWarzone
@Swagg
the craziest part about official CoD accounts of late is that they’re trying so hard to ignore the negativity and concerns and just acting like everything’s fine. like how many times do they have to be ratio’d before looking at their comms strategy and fixing it
seeing
@fazeclan
post my tweets on their Instagram continues to blow my mind. The reach that

has is something I don’t think I’ll ever get used too. so grateful for the support. 🙂
Looking for someone to join the Dexerto social team and run the Dexerto Twitter account. Follow the Twitch, YouTube, entertainment space? Know how to write funny, engaging copy? DMs are open (or email in bio).
It’s crazy cause a few years ago i probably wouldn’t tweet so freely my thoughts on
@charlieINTEL
but this year i’m like, let’s go for it. been around since 2011 and the last few years have been frustrating.
XDefiant certainly seems like a fun game and is taking what Call of Duty fans want and implementing it. My only concern is it’s a Ubisoft game, and they have a history of dropping a game quickly. But, any competition for CoD is good.
Visibility in MW3 is an issue that SHG should address at some point, but in the August build I played, when you ADS, there was a red outline on enemies and blue on friendlies. Visibility was not a problem, and SHG devs told us it was good. So not sure why it was removed.

2020 has been a crazy year for growth. Started at 1.2M, and half way through we’re at 1.6M. Hoping to reach 2M by year end. 👀
Honestly so devastated for the Sledgehammer Games team. Had to develop Vanguard in 18 months, immediately shift to MW3 development, make MW3 in 16 months, and now lost 30% of staff. 2 full CoD games released by them within 3 years.

This year has been a very different and challenging year with all that has happened (and happening), but grateful to still be able to run and build CI everyday.
It really is sad that the hype of Warzone all died out thanks to Warzone 2 and some of the design decisions Infinity Ward made. Just let Raven take over at this point fully and get back us to what made Warzone so much fun.
@charlieINTEL
Due to recent events, we have removed the “NICKMERCS Operator” bundle from the Modern Warfare II and Warzone store. We are focused on celebrating PRIDE with our employees and our community.
People keep coming at me for tweeting politics or taking a stand on issues outside of Call of Duty on
@charlieINTEL
, but I don’t see how i can remain silent with how large our following base is. Have to use what I have to speak up.
Anyone who thought Activision would remaster and remake 16 MW2 2009 maps and release it for free is delusional. They used to charge $60 for the Season Pass.
@dougdagnabbit
Wonder what Infinity Ward thinks of that. “So our new MW game doesn’t do anything IW did wrong, it fixes all those issues!” is an interesting marketing strategy
About to reach 10,000 new followers today on

I recently published my 4000th article on

. Mind blowing how many Call of Duty games and news we’ve reported on in 8 years. Grateful to be part of this.
Letting data miners, marketing partners, etc talk about the new game first and just making bizarre references to the leaks is an interesting marketing strategy.
I think this the first holiday for Call of Duty since like 2019 where we have no major game breaking issues and won't have to wait till January for updates to fix the game
I honesty can’t wait to see the Call of Duty’s community reaction when Treyarch’s game shows up as a DLC to Call of Duty/MWIII app on all platforms next year.
people ask me how i run
@charlieintel
, and it's quite literally just...having fun with it and being relatable to the community we are part of and built. can't take it too seriously.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 was the
#1
best selling game in the US in November
It's the
#2
best selling game of 2023, behind Hogwarts Legacy (which released in February)
Call of Duty was the
#2
most played game on PS5 & Xbox in November, behind Fortnite

Maybe one day people will realize I have no control over Call of Duty and stop yelling at me in
@charlieintel
mentions everyday. Don’t think it’ll ever happen, but i am hopeful.
MW3 Zombies mode will probably be fun for DMZ & Outbreak fans, but not for round-based fans. I think round-based fans will just have to wait till Treyarch's main game to get that type of content. Think it's good they're trying something new with Zombies for MW, though.
Last weekend
@CODLeague
shattered records as the second most-viewed event in Call of Duty esports history🔥
With more than 5M hours watched, the CDL was the most-viewed esport worldwide during the four days of broadcast.
Let's give it up for the fans 👏
Grand Theft Auto 6 will easily be the best selling game of all time, but it is interesting that Call of Duty won’t even be competition for it anymore, as next year’s title and onward will be Game Pass launch, so sales won’t ever be as high as it was.
It is truly remarkable that we're almost one year from COD Next event, and Infinity Ward/Raven have added things back that so many of us recommended at that event to Warzone - from health, movement, etc. It took them 11 months to *almost* get there. Just insane.
