My father died 6 weeks ago. Although he was in good health, it was not a surprise. He had just turned 101.
What was a surprise was that he had been in the middle of reading a novel (not one of mine.) The book was on the bedside table beside him, bookmark in place.

For me, I have found the only way to cope with lack of sales, reviews, ratings, engagements, algorithms, and so forth, is to put my head down, dig in my heels, and write. Because writing the books is what's important...whether anyone ever reads them or not.

I rarely talk about my books to family & friends. Today, a close friend asked me several questions about my WIP. I answered briefly but passionately. (My writing means a lot to me). Then she cuts me off & says "can you wrap this up. I have important things to do." Wait, what? ๐ข

Hello from the sunshine state of Florida.
I always wonder if anyone ever reads my posts.
Well......if anyone is out there, I hope you have a wonderful day!
I don't sell a lot of books. But I do have a small group of people who have read every single one in my 15 book series and snatched them up as soon as they were available.
It's folks like these who make me feel as though this is all worth it.
I am so very lucky! THANK YOU! โค๏ธ
4 years ago today, I published my first book, The Secret at Sunset Hill. At the time I really didn't think I'd be able to finish writing it, much less continue on with an entire series.
Today, I'm working on book 17 in the series.

No book sales for 8 months. Last week, donated an entire set of my series to a non-profit's silent auction. Director just asked me to come collect them because there were no bids. *sigh* Hard to stay positive sometimes. ๐ฅ

I spend a great amount of time writing. (Currently working on the 19th Katie Porter Mystery.) Unfortunately, my hands are starting to painfully rebel. So, I'm trying these compression gloves to see if they help, but they do make typing difficult.
Stop writing? Oh...hell...no.
Random Sunday morning thought while waiting for my coffee to kick in:
If we're following the followers who are following us, are we really just going around in one big circle?
OK, all's well. The Tornado came within a mile but, so far as I can tell, no damage to us. We heard debris hit the roof and the wind was fierce, but we never lost power. However, lots of folks were not so lucky. Downed trees and no electricity. Finger's crossed that there is noโฆ
It's with deep sadness that I announce that my ex & I had to euthanize our beloved Yorkie this evening. Bella was very old (17) and in failing health. It was time.

She will live in our hearts always.
For those watching Hurricane Idalia, I am in Tallahassee, just on the edge of the cone. If it stays on its current track, we will get lots of rain but winds of only about 80 - 100 mph (a Cat 1 or 2). However, our beautiful city has an abundance of large live oak and pine trees soโฆ

Camera shy author, K.T. McGivens, couldnโt resist posing in front of a mural depicting a 1940's train station since her Katie Porter Mysteries are set in that time period.
The amazing mural, "Waiting for the 626," is by Florida artist Kenny Maguire.

A newly wedded colleague told me that English is his wife's second language. To help her comprehension, they are reading my Katie Porter Mysteries out loud together because I use the more formal vernacular of the period (1947). He said it's a cool "couples thing." I'm speechless.

Sunday shout-out for some wonderful friends:
She's just released a fantastic western but, in my opinion, one of the best contemporary mystery series around is J.C. Paulson's Adam & Grace Mystery series. Gutsy, suspenseful, emotional, sexy, and romantic.

writes wonderful historical romance novels that feature independent women with a somewhat modern flair, be it a contemporary young woman transported to the past, or a Lady trying to hold her own despite restrictions of the times. Highly recommend!
