On behalf of several physicians here at Yale who watched this & are heart-broken, please help us identify & contact this child in
#Gaza
and deliver a message to her: „We hear you, the world hears you! You will have a future & we‘ll help you become a doctor! Don‘t lose hope!“
@MiddleEastEye
To be crystal clear: this message is NOT a political statement and should not be used for any propaganda. It is meant to help an innocent child who is caught in a war zone regain hope and an outlook for a better future. Please help identify her / parents and deliver the message.
@MayraFlores2022
The constitutionalist that I am, you sadly leave me no other option but to post this - be educated please. The Founding Fathers never meant for this country to be ruled by the Church, or any religion for that matter:
Essential reason to remain in academia: your ability to make a huge difference in the lives of students. Derive joy from opening doors to those who deserve it the most and expect it the least. Take down barriers you yourself had to overcome. Pass on good karma. Correct injustice.
Overheard at Yale: “Everyone: Please practice social distancing, retreat to loneliness as much as possible and don’t touch or interact with other people too much. Diagnostic Radiologists: please carry on as before!”
We had a great

How do you explain the

to a 6 year old, including locoregional therapy in a VX2 rabbit tumor model and translation into clinical imaging? Answer:
Physician-scientists must do a better job at explaining their challenge to both their scientist and clinician friends. Clinical excellence and NIH funding are also function of time. Neither can be achieved without dedicated protected time. Not happening during after-hours.

Yes sadly our lab’s experience as well, but it was far far worse before. I don’t understand why Iranians are subject to such undue scrutiny while many others from the Middle East with far worse track record have an open door. USA gets the best and brightest from Iran.
No matter how much you know as a physician, there is nothing in the world that will prepare you for the emotions of having to deal with a parent being a metastatic cancer patient. In fact, I’d argue that knowing and understanding the prognosis is NOT helpful.

Appreciate the love from the Iranian ExPat scientist community. It’s been mutual since well over 2 decades now. I pray for all of your well being, for the end of the regime, for freedom of your amazing nation and for great academic accomplishments in the United States together!

I can’t repeat this enough: scientific meeting abstracts that are not translated into published papers are of very limited value. CVs with eg a 5:1 ratio of abstract to paper are a yellow / red flag. It means the person is not a closer or salami-slices science.

Contrast-induced nephropathy is essentially fake news. If in doubt, give contrast. And then give some more. The risk of missing a key diagnosis or not doing a life saving procedure far far outweighs the benefit of potentially reducing theoretical risks of damaging the kidney.
For those outside of Radiology who don't know, contrast induced nephropathy for yrs now,felt to be somewhere between a questionable entity, possibly non-existing entity. if a pt w renal failure needs an exam, dangers of missing a dx are often> than CIN risk

Newsflash: when they sing “From the River to the Sea, Palestine will be free” they don’t mean side by side in peace with Israel. They mean instead of Israel, as in wiping it out. Hamas-style. They don’t want a two state solution. Yet that is the only way for peace and dignity.
The last one from the team for 2021 - we just automated Lipiodol segmentation / quantification on intra-procedural cone-beam CT using a relatively straight forward deep learning approach. No more taking gloves off in the middle of cTACE. Happy Holidays!

99% of success is hard work. There is no substitute for relentlessly hard work. Excessive sacrifice, after-hours, work on the weekends, do-it-yourself attitude. 1% is luck and supportive environment. Entitlement, credit, titles are the result and not the precondition for success.
