When I owed a training facility I hired the person not the resume. I saw a lot of CSCS coaches. My best hire and one of the best coaches I know was originally trained as an electrician who educated himself and got the experience. Hire the person. Not the resume.

Quick reminder for those going off to play a college sport… 1 in 4 quit freshman year. Learn to love the process. Write down your purpose for playing on a sheet of paper. You’ll need it when it gets hard. Everyone else was a star in high school too. Be humble.

This goes for all sports but I wanna highlight women’s soccer. If you’re a coach and you avoid lifting in season or worse, discredit it with your team, it’s gotta be a “pride” issue or a “lack of education” issue. To say “I don’t believe in it” is moronic. Embarrassing.

“I love to watch you play” Sometimes that’s all your kid needs to hear at the end of the game. They probably don’t need to hear you yell at the coach or ref from the stands. They definitely don’t need to hear how you did it when you were a kid.

@HammondFootball middle linebacker. Junior. 185 lbs. I got about 15 years of experience with the tendo thanks to my years with @Sorinex …. 300 lb front squat at .42 and .36 average m/s. Velocity based training can push kids like this to a whole new performance level.

IMO, losing is necessary. Finding that inner “dawg”, that inner “killer” can come after a loss. Or you can bury your head in the sand and hide. The best part is, as an athlete you get to choose. As a coach, I’ll help you prepare for that decision. Bc I will challenge you.
