I am reading Kathleen Stock’s book, Material Girls, and her argumentative form throughout seems to be: badly misrepresent social theory she dislikes and then maximally perform incredulity, over and over, without actually refuting arguments. This is not good scholarship.
Also, what a wild suggestion she reaches from a ‘Stroop’-like effect. The cognitive psychologists, among whom I once worked, would be appalled by this kind of reasoning.
