I look forward—should I be fortunate to become a professor—to setting up a “lab” with fellow professors and students, which can approximate the community and collaboration I felt when I was a student researcher in psychology. It has been unnecessarily lonely in legal academia.

@JoshuaDMShaw At @ucsc I organize a Legal Politics Lab for PhD students with interests in law and society. We had our last meeting of 2019–20 yesterday. We held space for each person to check in about worked (and why) amidst the past year’s craziness & what they look forward to ahead.

@ProfMassoud @ucsc I am glad such labs exist elsewhere! I am envious of your students.

@JoshuaDMShaw 100% agree. "lab structure" works for any discipline in so far as cramming people into the same space does wonders for making academic pals and having interesting and productive discussions.
