The Governor signed my free prison phone call bill (sb1008)!!!!! Thank you
@GavinNewsom
and thank you to all the thousands of advocates across the state who worked on this!!!
Hate has no place in our community. An Arab Muslim student at Stanford was injured in a hit-and-run that is being investigated as a hate crime. Please call the CHP if you have any information - are looking for witnesses. They can be reached at 650-779-2700
Have had positive calls today and am optimistic on SVB. This is about depositors getting money back not management or shareholders. Btw, it’s very ironic that failure caused not by investing in risky startups but by investing in US Treasurys ! (and not anticipating the issues).
Just had Stanford HealthCare insist I owed $1400 on some tests because I didn’t have insurance. When I said that I did have insurance they wanted me to solve it. Think of all the people that don’t have hours in their day to deal or language skills to deal with this BS

As a Jew with relatives killed by the Nazis in the Holocaust,I beseech all to remember the 6 million Jews lost. I renounce San Mateo County Harbor Commissioner Nancy Reyering's using that term to describe housing advocates & hope she will only us it when referring to actual Nazis
California will not tolerate any forms of discrimination, including caste inequality. We need to work with our diverse communities to ensure this is not happening.
And, at the same time,we need to ensure we don’t rush to judgment e.g. in state’s case against 2 defendants & Cisco
This seems like a bad idea to me. So many people have bought tickets, some overpaying on the resale market. Clearly we can find other ways to support the strikers that don’t dash the dreams of young fans who have been so looking forward to this concert.
Biked for first time in awhile from around Menlo Park train station to Redwood City. There’s a small piece on El Camino that could be a good bike lane but has no markings and you have to duck or swirl if you don’t want your head cut off. The rest has no discernible bike lane…
There are legitimate questions to ask about the state’s role in this case and whether they have been good stewards of taxpayer resources. Many troubling issues have been pointed out. CA CRD dropped the case against the two individuals but only after 3+ years.
We need to get off of oil and gas - let’s use the surplus to build EV infrastructure, create a fund to finance the decarbonization of buildings and more incentives for e-bikes.

I don't need a focus group because I can just look down the hall at my own 2 high school kids who are waiting to play sports. The social and emotional benefits of sports are so important.
It’s certainly OK to peacefully protest, even to chant and organize at the convention. But drowning out Senate candidates before a very important endorsement vote, shutting down caucuses and events and having Jewish delegates feel intimidated and harassed is just not OK.

When covid hit we shut down all activity till we could get the virus under control. How about we shut down all gun sales until we get massacres of our citizens under control???
Hey!! Guess what, The Washington Post just wrote an OpEd about my prison phone call bill that
@GavinNewsom
just signed. WaPo says that other states should follow our lead! Thanks again to all of you who made this happen!
The top 4 health insurance companies posted 10.9 billion dollars in profit in Q3 2022. Meanwhile 43% of Americans have put off needed health care due to cost. We need a healthcare system that puts people before profits.
Glad to see
#AB1400
pass out of Appropriations and on to the next step. CA can lead the way for the country! Thanks to
@Ash_Kalra
and
@CalNurses
for their hard work.
What’s missing in this picture?!? No. Projects in California. We are losing out particular for battery manufacturing plants. We need a more concerted effort to win these jobs particularly in the Central Valley & other cities outside of the Bay Area & LA.

This is why I had a
#transmission
bill (that passed!) last year and I will have a Transmission bill and an Interconnection bill this year! These are the things that need to get done if we are to be able to transition to 100% clean electricity
I'm co-authoring SB 264 by
@daveminca
to effectively end the ‘gun show loophole’ and eliminate the sale of ghost guns, straw party sales, gun thefts from careless vendors and more. Need to do whatever we can.
(1/2) Today is my Anniversary and I’m missing my wife! We are into our 11th Hour of Floor Session today. Still I’m so honored and grateful to be here. The number of absolutely critical issues we’ve debated and voted on today is astounding!!
Thanks to everyone for the kind emails and texts. I’m feeling well, glad I was boosted and grateful for family and friends. Excited to not be in isolation and to get back to the Capitol next week!
Happy Labor Day!! I’m getting ready to Floor Manage this important legislation in the State Senate for
@LorenaSGonzalez
. We can maintain humanity in this industry! Profits should not come at expense of workers’ health & safety!
Silicon Valley Bank is such an important institution for our region and state. I hope it can survive. I’ve reached out to leaders to assess the situation and see if there is a role we can play.
Well, and it’s over. Great season and a wonderful high school experience. Really proud of my son and his team. They put up a terrific effort and lost 28 to 21 to Palma. This team had a tremendous culture, everyone came together and really got along and pulled for each other.
Are we serious about
#climatechange
? I supported
#ab1395
today and spoke as a Principal Co-Author of the bill. We need to put a stake in the ground and commit to a timeline!
At a vigil at Stanford memorializing the hundreds murdered in Israel. Watched shocking and heartbreaking footage of abductions of women and children. Praying for their safe return and a return to peace in the region as soon as possible.
Historic day!! Due to a Sacramento power outage I presided over the first Senate session in the new swing space offices. Had to do everything manually but we got through it including some powerful Adjourn in Memories from my Colleagues for the victims in Laguna Woods and Buffalo
“I am happy to report that the authors of SB 846 have agreed to clarify in writing that the bill will not impose a Solar Tax on the solar energy you produce and consume at home. This means you no longer need to call or email your Senator or Assemblymember!”
Governor came to Mountain View to highlight a phenomenal project. 100 modular units for 124 formerly homeless individuals (larger units for families). Built in 6 months on 1 acre. 30% of area is supportive services.

I told him very clearly this is why people want us to join the rest of the world where medical bills get paid without all the back and forth and waste of our system where providers negotiate with insurance companies - wasting 33 cents of every dollar in this BS.
Getting ready w Jo (my new energy staffer from the District) to present 4(!!!) bills in a row in the the Assembly Energy & Utilities Committee - the most I’ve done in any committee - Wish us Luck!
So proud of District Director Nicole Fernandez, who leads my team in San Mateo and Santa Clara Counties! The Silicon Valley Business Journal is honoring Nicole as one of its 2022 Women of Influence. I couldn’t have a better district director for SD13! Congratulations, Nicole!
It has been a week since election day, and I just want to take a moment to thank everybody who chose to run for office. Whether you won or lost, you took a risk to represent and work to better your community—and that is worthy of celebrating.
Last year has been called ‘The most impactful for climate in CA History.’ Please see my OpEd in the Mercury News! Let’s keep up the momentum!

This standard is totally wack. 'Doesn't have control over their body' or 'otherwise unaware'. We've got to do better to protect victims.
I am concerned about the working conditions in the SCC Health & Hosp System. Short-staffing and heavy patient loads are bad for patients and bad for doctors. After 2 years working through the pandemic w/o a contract, I hope that
@VPGphysicians
’ concerns are addressed.
Senior Night! I’m so proud of my son. He has worked so hard for the last four years (they get home from practice at 7:30 each day) and now he and the team are celebrated before the last home game against Burlingame.
It’s been a week since the election. I want thank everyone here, so, so much for your support. The work begins now. Excited for new Senator orientation in Sacramento this week!
A future that was unthinkable just a few years ago is quickly becoming reality.
I will fight every day—for my daughter, and for all people—until our progress is restored.
Vote vote vote. 50+ years of progress depend on it.
Looks like we got our electric heat pump just in time. 93 degrees today. Efficient heating and, for the first time, Air Conditioning!! My wife is so happy. And with no greenhouse gas emissions!!

Now need more incentives in CAbudget!
The Eviction moratorium ends Jan 31. I just had a call with the Senate Caucus. We are working hard on getting it extended. Also working to find compensation for landlords. Will have something to announce soon.
600 people for offshore wind summit in SF today! Working to speed it up in California. UK is on track to get 2/3rds of its electricity from offshore wind.
Last night we watched Don’t Look Up and woke up today to news of the CO fires. In Colorado all of the state’s 20 biggest wildfires have occurred since 2001, and 4 of the 5 largest since 2018. Time to Look Up and for me and all of us do more to stop climate change in 2022 !!!
So excited to launch my new blog today that will cover my thoughts on how we can GHG emissions to zero! Fighting climate change has never been more urgent. I hope this can offer some insight into the path ahead.

This is Paris, today. In a very short space of time, the city has built temporary infrastructure enabling 1 million daily cycle journeys. If you haven’t visited in a while, some parts are unrecognisable.
Imagine if every person cycling here decided to jump in a car instead.
Well, I know a lot of Founders lost a lot of sleep this weekend! But hopefully everyone can get some rest tonight and back to the business of running start ups tomorrow.
The killer in TX had 2 AR-15 style guns at 18!! How insane is that?? Proud of 3 bills we passed yesterday in the CA State Senate:
1)Empowers individuals to sue anyone who manufactures, distributes, transports, imports into CA, or sells illegal assault weapons and ghost guns in CA
One Job Should Be Enough. I chanted that chant in 2019 w/ Unite Here SFO workers who have been without a contract since then and no raise since 2018 despite working through the pandemic. Today we stepped up the action.
@LorenaSGonzalez
@Ash_Kalra

So excited that
@kevinmullin
and I were able to surprise Dan Pasini with funding for the Trades Introduction Program.
As lead instructor, Dan’s been preparing the next gen of tradespeople to join an apprenticeship program & the workforce. TIP grads are keeping CA moving forward!
Was exposed to Covid last week so by rules of the Senate had to quarantine today and cancel my big press conference this morning at the Capitol on my Free Prison Phone calls :( :( :(
Romney “We have 5 percent of the world’s population but 25 percent of the deaths due to Covid-19, and there’s no way to spin that in a positive light.”
$97B surplus. Thanks to all our entrepreneurs who made this possible. Now let’s make sure we use it wisely!! I’ll be commenting on the May Revise in the coming days.
Big week! I'm on my way to the Capitol have 4 bills up in committee focusing on infrastructure, criminal justice, community college, and digital education. It's so exciting to have the opportunity to advocate for our district and the entire state.
Today I had the opportunity to speak at
#COP26
about getting California to
#netzero
. I highlighted California's leadership, proudly noting that since 2000, California reduced its emissions per capita by more than 20% while at the same time growing our economy by more than 60%.
I’ve known Vice President
@KamalaHarris
for 20 years and consider her a friend. She’s incredibly warm, smart, savvy, and thoughtful and I can’t wait for America to get to really know her over the next 4 months and not the caricature that’s been put out there. Let’s do this!!!
Latest IPCC report tells us climate change is happening much faster than projected (although we already know from the fires, floods, droughts!!!). This week I'll launch Getting to Zero blog- my thoughts on how CA can get to zero in each of our major areas of GHG Emissions.
My team got me the nicest Care Package!! Thanks
@nicoleannette00
@JoanDentler1
and team! Love the Dianda’s sweets. Looks like People jumped the gun a little bit on Betty White’s 100 bday..
GREAT night Friday at San Mateo Labor COPE dinner where my daughter and I got to welcome our friend and now the first woman and first person of color to lead the CA Labor Fed

Ballots are out and a reminder you have the chance to vote for a true champion for Silicon Valley,
@Eshoo4Congress
, who is running to keep her seat in CA-16! Both a friend & mentor, Anna has done so much for privacy rights, climate & other issues important to us here in the Bay.
“Depositors will have access to all of their money starting Monday, March 13. No losses associated with the resolution of Silicon Valley Bank will be borne by the taxpayer.”
