It’s 3 am and Holly and I are at Johns Hopkins Hospital prepared for surgery while they exam the proposed bilateral lungs to confirm they’re suitable for transplant (or not). The blood type matches. The size is good. If it’s a go, the procedure will start around 4:30 am or so.

It appears the transplant lungs are a good match. The description of the anesthesia alone is the most complicated discourse on tending to pain & stress during a surgery that is so much more complicated. Holly is off for what may be an 8 hour procedure. She was calm. I am not.
