Chair of LFC Supporters Board, member of
@spiritofshankly
, FSA National Council, CITC and MDVS boards.Lifelong LFC fan love my family and those Reds away trips
Incredibly proud, honoured and humbled to be elected the first chair of the
@lfc
Supporters Board. This is an historic opportunity to shape the future of our football club, providing a legally binding legacy of fan engagement for now and future generations
24 years ago today, two Leeds fans, Chris and Kev, were brutally attacked and killed going to a match in Istanbul. My sympathies go out to their families and friends. Some fans still think it’s ok to mock their deaths, it’s not - let’s end Tragedy Chanting now
#PassionNotPoison
9 days to go and
@UKLabour
have still not shared with West Derby constituency members where and when the hustings will be. What a shameful way to treat its members, but then, the whole process to trigger and try to deselect
@IanByrneMP
has been shameful
Statement below from LFC Supporters Board 👇
Jordan Henderson was a true captain and true leader for LFC on and off the pitch. We know he did much to promote inclusion on and off the pitch. He stood out as a principled footballer.
Where’s your apology? Where’s the statement from the board members? Where’s your letter to the fans who you disrespected for the past 48 hours? Shocking statement
Really proud to be re-elected chair of
@spiritofshankly
for a second term. Privileged to be following in the footsteps of previous fantastic chairs and humbled to be associated with the name Shankly, which epitomises so much good surrounding LFC
Alongside the excitement of Sunday's cup tie, we are remembering the tragic events of the 1989 semi final.
After an invite to Anfield from
#lfc
supporters from
@spiritofshankly
, we were privileged to share our support to all affected by the Hillsborough disaster.
#nffc
#JFT97
Really proud to lead the Union
@spiritofshankly
during these unprecedented times. working with Morrison’s, volunteer taxi drivers and community partners we have provided over 4,000 bags of food to families in need
#RightToFood
Had an unbelievable 4 years as chair. It’s been an honour and a privilege to serve under the name of Shankly. Thanks to everyone who has supported me over this time. Time to concentrate on developing the LFC Supporters Board and build on our achievements
@NickyMorgan01
@Conservatives
Thousands more community pitches on what? on the land you’ve forced local authorities to sell to cover your savage cuts? Don’t try to use a working class game as a late vote winner it won’t work
On behalf of the LFC Supporters Board, I’m delighted to announce that Harinder Singh has been appointed Vice Chair. Harinder sits on the board as the Faith and Ethnicity representative and his experience will bring strengthened leadership to the Board
It was a sunny day then too. My thoughts and prayers with the 97 with a life to live and much to give who went and never came back. With survivors, many scarred, many gone. With the families missing their loved ones without justice and real peace. Never forgotten
#JFT97
🎖️ RECORD | 8⃣ disabled fans with their companions travelled to Liverpool to support AC Sparta Prague at Anfield 🏴 It is a new record number of disabled Sparta supporters at the away game! 👏 Thank you all and
@LiverpoolDSA
thank you for hosting us! 😍

Weasel words. The taking of the knee was ridiculed by you and Patel. Racism exists and it’s actually promoted by you. We all knew we would be waking up this morning to stories of racist abuse and that’s on you and your divisive Government
This England team deserve to be lauded as heroes, not racially abused on social media.
Those responsible for this appalling abuse should be ashamed of themselves.
On behalf of the Liverpool FC Supporters Board we are thinking today of the 97 who went to a match and never came back. Thinking too of survivors, families and friends.
#NeverForgotten

You’ll Never Walk Alone, Jordan Banks ❤️
Nicknamed ‘mini-Milner’ by his coaches, Jordan was a brilliant person, as well as a passionate footballer. We’re all thinking of his loved ones tonight ❤️
⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽
The club have confirmed plans for tonight’s game as we remember the tragic loss of 97 lives, 34 years ago at the Hillsborough disaster.
* Dedicated two pages in the programme
* Floral tributes from both captains
*Both CEO’s swapping pennants in front of the Chris & Kev plaque.
Good luck and solidarity with
@IanByrneMP
today. West Derby needs you to carry on the fantastic work you’ve done locally and nationally - “A working class hero is something to be” ✊

This is the impact of “banter”. No one should be made to suffer in this way through unacceptable chanting. Sending love and support to you
@charlhennessy1
and all families and survivors
12hrs later, I've barely slept, I can compose myself but I'm so emotional and my anxiety is uncontrollable.
My husband is having to take the children to school because its so bad i can't drive.
We champion speaking out about mental health and then nothing is done to support it!
People say football and politics shouldn’t mix but yet again those in the sport are showing ministers how to do their jobs - Rashford , Henderson, supporter led community responses and now Jurgen Klopp - football is showing the leadership that the Tories seem incapable of
Absolutely disgusting what’s happened today. 32 years of establishment obfuscation, lies, deceit, cover up and injustice. Devastated for families and survivors
#jft96
Ian’s determination led the French Senate to allow me and
@tedthered77
to give testimony to them in person. His ongoing demands for full retraction and apology for the lies told about fans is more evidence of his commitment and dedication to the people he represents
@WestDerbyCLP
I have written to President Macron re the findings of the independent inquiry into the CL Final in Paris last May to seek a full apology & retraction from the French police/football/Govt for seeking to shift blame for “overarching organisational failures” onto Liverpool fans.
Just been on
@BBCBreakfast
for
@spiritofshankly
and
@THSTOfficial
talking about the extortionate prices for tickets, travel and accommodation to this year’s Champions League Final. This level of extortion of football fans has to stop beginning with
@UEFAcom
The very essence of the LFC supporters board is to be inclusive and ensure all LFC fans, whatever their faith, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation or disability can attend and enjoy football. That’s what we want for fans, that’s what we want for football.
My thoughts and prayers with the 97 with a life to live and much to give who went and never came back. With survivors, many scarred, many gone. With the families missing their loved ones without justice and real peace. Never forgotten
#JFT97
Huge day for West Derby Labour members tomorrow. Chuffed to be part of his campaign material and without question I support the MP of the Year
@IanByrneMP
If you feel the same, make sure you get to the hustings
The De La Salle Academy, Carr Lane East, L11 4SG be there for 1.30
Unbelievably sad but real football fans are behind this as are clubs and football authorities - incredibly positive messages of support and solidarity to me from
@WeAreTheFSA
and individual fan groups
#PassionNotPoison
Really sad that the comments had to be closed on this tweet. The usual trolls would have been out.
Real football fans should be behind stopping the chants
And still the Club stays silent. Not one word of their own statement. Not one word to it’s supporters. Not one (public) word to its staff. Just a joint statement which effectively says we are happy to kill football providing it makes us even richer
Really proud to represent
@spiritofshankly
today and speak to our motion. Even more delighted that it was passed unanimously and the message will now be taken to UEFA loud and clear - we are no longer going to tolerate your dismissal of fans
@ForThe_Fans
On behalf of the LFC Supporters Board - The Board backs supporter groups' actions to highlight the importance of ticket prices. When SB reps met LFC ownership, they made it clear that protecting fan culture for generations to come only happens if we shape it together..
It’s great Ian but Frustrating that this has to be done. This isn’t a low, it’s a temporary blip, could’ve/should’ve won yesterday and on other days we do. We can’t allow the sit at home Twitter idiots to dictate. Klopp is a world class manager and leader, form us temporary etc
Please don’t forget to vote. This is a pivotal moment in supporter engagement with LFC and it’s important all
@spiritofshankly
members have their say. Voting open until 15th but do it now so you don’t forget, it only takes a minute
Voting on SOS/LFC deal now open!
Members will receive an email today from CES inviting you to submit your vote. The email sender will be CES & the title will be "Spirit of Shankly-Your Vote".
To vote please follow the link you receive from CES. Voting closes midnight Tues 15th
Absolutely delighted for
@IanByrneMP
- his victory is one for all working class socialists who put themselves first with morals, scruples, values and integrity. Your speech today was outstanding and heartfelt. Let’s build on what you have started
#RightToFood
#HillsboroughLawNow
An honour and a privilege to receive this award last night. Recognition from LFC supporters is great, to receive it from our fans with disabilities is special and to receive it for work on inclusion is humbling. A special gift from special people - thank you
@LiverpoolDSA
Delighted and honoured to have been elected to the Board of
@WeAreTheFSA
for the next three years. A massive show of faith and solidarity from fellow fans across English football - thank you
#footballwithoutfansisnothing
Powerful and emotional meeting up with
@SeniorGareth
last night to remember Chris and Kev. As far as I could tell, both sets of fans magnificent, great atmosphere, bit of banter and no tragedy chanting. Decent game of footy too.

Not a chance. Fans have shown in their millions the opposition to £14.95 so they just come up with another random figure? The
@premierleague
need to understand there is a clear message from fans. Oh and meaningful engagement does not mean briefing your mates in the press
Well said Ian. Adrian Chiles and
@bbc5live
please look at numbers 2,3,4,5,6,13 and crucially,7 and explain why you let Goldberg peddle lies on your show - shame on you
Shame on
@bbcradio5live
and Adrian Chiles for once again letting lies against the dead and survivors of Hillsborough be spun after 32 years.
The inquests jury concluded in 2016, after the longest case ever, that no misbehaviour by Liverpool fans contributed to the disaster.

“faceless,spineless owners”. Managers, players and fans totally against the closed shop greed of football

Solidarity, support and unity with our local traders and outright opposition to the trademarking of Liverpool by our club
@spiritofshankly
#stopthetrademark
There’s a lot of work by
@spiritofshankly
@LiverpoolDSA
@lfc
@MerPolLFC
put into pre-planning these games, sadly the majority of times the local police commissioner, the opposition club and government bodies ignore our work. When they do listen, it works - strange that
This is an outright lie.
@IanByrneMP
is an outstanding MP, lives by his values and principles. He is extremely popular across Merseyside, respected across the country and serves his constituency brilliantly
West Derby MP Ian Byrne is facing a struggle to win over many in his local party – having been selected with the backing of Momentum and former shadow chancellor
@johnmcdonnellMP
.
30 years ago today I left Liverpool full of hope and expectation. 30 years ago I left Sheffield devasted and broken but I am here to remember. 96 beautiful people are not and so many others are still feeling the pain. I will never forget not on this day or any other
This is shocking if true. Attending a game should never be driven by financial advantage. Loyalty of all fans should be rewarded not just those with money.
New season starts today for Liverpool and ,we hope, a more positive experience for everyone with regards to chants/songs/actions. Enjoy the match and if you do witness anything please video it as nothing can be done without evidence.
YNWA
So
@Waitrose
why are you still selling the S## in your Formby supermarket? Think after 30 years of pain it’s time you stopped don’t you?
#dontbuythesun
I heard Paul speak many times but never got to meet him. So many people speak so highly of him he was clearly a great man. It’s an honour and humbling to follow in Paul’s footsteps. I’ll do all I can to maintain his legacy. Thoughts with all of his family. RIP Paul
Our ex Chair Paul Rice passed away 8 years ago today - how he would’ve loved to have seen this Klopp team - if it wasn’t for the likes of Paul we might not be witnessing these historic events - RIP Paul Rice 1957-2012
Just as we denounce someone when they make fun of the Hillsborough tragedy, now we have to do it about this idiot who makes fun of the Munich tragedy.
@ManUtd

4 hours to kick off and it’s vital
@premierleague

get the message that football is ours and we won’t be taken for granted. The response to the boycott has been huge. If you feel the same way, donate what you can afford
I am standing in the election to be the secretary of
@WestDerbyCLP
I am committed to ensure there is the best support possible to achieve
@IanByrneMP
’s ambitious constituency improvement programme. Here is my candidate statement for the vote this coming Friday
Unbelievable. Immensely proud and humbled to know these people. leadership and action just where and when it is needed. It’s a basic requirement of government to protect the health of its country. When this government is failing the working class show unity and deliver 👏👏✊
To be clear, the Supporters Board has had no consultation with LFC on this issue. The Board was confirmed last week with
@lfc
and but no working structures have been created. However, in the interim, we would expect to be consulted on strategic decisions such as this
We haven’t been consulted on this and oppose ticket collections in Europe - not a great start a week after the Supporters Board was announced - this decision needs to be reversed!
“Fans are the heart and soul of football and they are being exploited”. There should also be a fairer distribution of final tickets - are you listening
@uefa
? Well said

@paulsaltysalt
Inclusion is a right for everyone. Ted told the
@spiritofshankly
AGM last week that of 800,000 matchgoing PL fans there are just 6,000 disabled fans who can get to a game, that’s simply not good enough in 2021. Let’s make a difference and make matchdays for everyone ✊
Today is
#InternationalDayOfPeopleWithDisability
We pledge to continue to do the best that we can for our disabled supporters both old and young. Equality and fairness and the same right of passage following
@lfc
that non-disabled supporters enjoy YNWA
Incredibly powerful meeting last night.
@IanByrneMP
chairing a debate about Hillsborough Law Now in his West Derby constituency. A leader on national issues which impact on local people is the kind of MP I want representing me and my community
I am still lost for words but in solidarity and support for the 96, their families and survivors. The proudest moment in my career was to arrange the Freedom of the Borough to the 96. I will never forget JFT96 YNWA
Clearly heard on the TV coverage the disgusting Hillsborough-related taunt of Liverpool by Luton fans; a disgrace that shames football itself.
Good to hear
@Carra23
taking a moment on commentary to call it out.
#LUTLIV
“It does feel increasingly to people that we’re being treated with contempt in the North of England.”

Thank you for the overwhelming response to my appointment. These are exciting and groundbreaking times and I’m grateful for the input we have had from supporters already and I wish to assure you that these issues will be raised with LFC in due course

@BrianReade
How can nobody, nobody be responsible? My emotions at the moment are beyond words. My heart is broken for the 96 and their families and friends. My thoughts with them all
There is absolutely no justification for fans paying more money to watch their teams home or away and European qualification should be earned by performance in the previous season, not a historical coefficient.
FSA Premier League Network say no to Champions League changes:
More games = more costs to fans
More games = risks to domestic cups
UEFA plans = no sporting integrity

Liverpool versus Atletico Madrid in March 2020 went ahead and the consequences were catastrophic, impacting upon people who were not even there. I feel uncomfortable thinking about it because I showed up. Yet attendance should never have been an option.
We can now confirm that
@MerseyPPEHub
is now closed! We would like to thank everyone for their support and hope the we have helped many people along the way. We were able to distribute
⭐️48,000+ visors
⭐️37,000+ masks
⭐️30,000+ pairs of gloves
⭐️23,000+ aprons
⭐️4,000+ ear savers
So after such a terrible week of shifts, more Covid cases, rejection from the government and their employers, my daughter and her nursing team do this, deliver food parcels - their compassion is inspirational
#NHSPay15
#RightToFood
This is what football fans do - they work tirelessly in their communities day in day out. 48000 visors have literally saved lives and stopped further spread of the virus. Brilliant that
@LFC
and especially Jürgen have taken the time to recognise this work 🔴🔵✊
“In times of adversity, we do come together.”
@MerseyPPEHub
, with the help of
@sfoodbanks
and many volunteers have been providing vital PPE for the Liverpool region and beyond 👏
The boss joined Reds and Blues on a call to learn more and thank them for their brilliant work ❤️
@Simon_Hughes__
Can there really be a more appropriate captain for Liverpool at this moment? A player written-off, but never by coaches. A team written off, but never by their fans. A city written off, but never by its inhabitants.
👏👏👏
No one should go to a match and not come back. This is powerful and moving and a reminder that such tragedies should never be mocked or chanted about. RIP Chris and Kev ❤️
A powerful tribute by
@LUFC
to two supporters who lost their lives following their club and a reminder of why tragedy chanting can never be acceptable.
Rest in peace Christopher Loftus and Kevin Speight.
