the warhammer community, where you create armies of dolls based on fanfic lore and then paint them by following makeup tutorials, is a very conceptually funny place to exclude women from.
my favorite erroneous data/outlier story:
uncle was running a study on fish and had students helping note down behavioral data. everyone's collecting data, it all looks pretty consistent, all good.
turns out: because she's the shortest in the group, she's the only one the fish don't all immediately notice when she comes in to take readings on them in their tank. everybody else is taking readings on stressed out fish, she's taking readings on undisturbed fish.
2010 me: it'd be more convenient to pirate this movie than pay for it but i feel like it'd be unethical
2020 me: it'd be more convenient to buy this movie on amazon or google than pirate it but i feel like it'd be unethical
ONE student is getting really bizarre outlier data though. what's going on? they observe HER observing THE FISH and realize that the fish actually ARE behaving differently when she's taking the readings.
a strong claim by the only person i have ever muted during an among us game because he was yelling at everyone else and telling them all they sucked at videogames.
those who say numbers are infinite don't realize how rare most numbers are. frequency histogram runs out of graph paper, so represent frequency of numbers over 7 by ny's twin towers respectively. then frequency of numbers over 7 is a medium sized molehill. numbers go up to 7.
Those who say sex is a spectrum donโt realise how rare intersex humans are. Frequency histogram runs out of graph paper, so represent frequency of unambiguous males & females by NYโs twin towers respectively. Then frequency of intersexes is a medium sized molehill. Sex is binary.
this is one of the funniest things i've ever seen. twitch and mountain dew are collaborating to evolve the limits of advertising by using AI to make a spam bot that every streamer's mods will ban in about five seconds.
You may find that Mtn Dew is in your chat at some point over the next week self-promoting their stream.
This is a collaboration between Twitch and Mtn Dew using AI to detect logos and packaging similar to their branding.

A Sky News presenter has attracted criticism for stating that a 13-year-old Tetris record breaker should "go outside [and] get some fresh air... Beating Tetris is not a life goal.โ
slay the spire drama is incredible. someone is claiming they have a 42-0 winstreak after going 18-0 in 2020, playing in between (with losses), and then going 24-0 in 2022. when i logged into reddit to comment i saw someone had dm'd me to tell me i deserved my abusive relationship
infinites in slay the spire + thoughts, thread.
1) ironclad: it is very easy to go infinite with ironclad because you have a ton of cards which can exhaust chaff to get you down to a combo. then you just play your combo infinite times. random decks end up infinite cause why not?
transgender people generally kick ass. it's hard to go wrong with someone who has thought deliberately about their identity and then successfully channeled energy into becoming who they want to be, especially when that identity has ~zero risk of ever harming anyone else.
there's increasing conversation about streamer mental health.
a point i think is incredibly important to make is how easy it is for streamers to lose parts of who they are because of how their audience responds to them being that thing.
explanation thread:
i want to get on a call with whoever is making decisions at twitch and at the start of the call i play 8 30-second preroll ads at them and then if they make it through those the call freezes
last night someone shared a relatively level-headed opinion on separating art from artist re: hogwart's legacy and i banned them and then yelled at them. i feel like a bit of an asshole, but it seemed like an appropriate time to be an asshole.
i like to keep personal stuff mostly personal, but i've been dating a sweet human being for the last few months and she just sent me this spreadsheet showing i was behind on my challenge and i thought "my people will want to know that i have found someone i can connect with"
have loved seeing games become more widely accepted over the past few years. one of my viewers even shared a pic of euro boardgames being sold at his local grocery store!
by supporting jkr, you are signaling to a ton of awesome human beings that you don't care very much about a massive hate movement trying to criminalize their existence. you're going to have to weigh playing the game against people not wanting to talk to you anymore.
@itshafu
think it's genre-defining. won't stay this popular forever, but it shows that gamers/audiences want bite-sized 10-player games with real human interaction, and i'm very excited to see what happens with that.
wtf is a "playstyle" and why do you make decisions based off it? i've been playing strategy games for 30 years and still have no idea what you're all talking about.
my opinion on pc-language:
it doesn't take much attention at all to progressively reframe the way you speak to exclude/insult fewer and fewer people, and doing so generally improves your ability to communicate in general and especially to the people you used to exclude.
i'm sorry but i just can't celebrate mitch mcconnell's health deteriorating. the end of life is the greatest equalizer, and it's a constant reminder that we are running out of time to feed him to lions in a public arena.
i feel like i've been too stressed to let myself be happy the last couple of weeks, but uh.
i bought a house! moving in a couple of weeks. i love it, it is so much better for what i need than this apartment.
i submitted the final draft of my book!
my accounts are all in order!
my opinion of the writer's/actor's strikes is that those of us who aren't striking can't really know what it's like, so we should all try striking to find out so we can comment more accurately. i think maybe we should do it right now?
the tricky thing about twitter is: you see how angry people get about injustice, and you're like "oh this is a great place", but then you scroll a bit further and the conversation about apple sauce is just as angry and you start to think maybe it's not so great after all.
i fairly frequently get youtube comments from people saying "wow this guy just mutes people with different opinions than him, can't handle honest debate" and i absolutely instantly mute those people so they can't comment on my youtube anymore
it's maybe suboptimal that we have all this concerted research into new AI techniques and meanwhile our approach to natural human intelligence is to put kids in a rectangle 8 hours a day for 16 years and then they have $200,000 of debt.
a big thing about like, life and shit, is that pursuing the "optimal strategy" for things often makes you completely insufferable to people who value things like kindness, empathy, charity, etc.
which "ironically" means it often isn't the right strategy!
doing a subathon soon, milestone rewards:
100 - i'm not
200 - going to do
300 - anything different.
400 - if you enjoy
500 - someone's content
600 - you should support
700 - it all the time
800 - whether they ask for it
900 - or not

reminder that you can already pay $8/mo. to make twitter better for yourself. (if you pay me $8/mo. i will dm you on the first of each month and remind you that you are mortal).
anyway, it's sort of fucked up.
in general, my advice would be: if a streamer acts in a way on stream which doesn't jive with your expectation or desire, shut the fuck up.
they're a human, you're not entitled to them being exactly what you want them to be.
sup, i'm 35, it's okay so far, went through my lifegoals checklist and i sure didn't do most of this shit yet but i did a really good job of getting a shirt with a banana printed on it so today i'm celebrating that.
how can anyone watch a game awards show that doesn't give slaythe spire every award like do you just enjoy being lied to? imagine watching lassie and it just doesn't have the dog in it.
@GothamChess
people are allowed to age and should be defined as the sum of their contribution, not the peak of it. one of the greatest players of all time participating in a tournament with younger players is great.
closing out jan with 267 hours streamed. 127 a20 heart kills and 85 jorbs deaths in 30 days. previous best was 102, smashed it and then beat up my stretch goal too.
will put together some sort of review document to talk about the month.
the essential problem with the 90's, in my opinion, was that everyone was too tall and dismissive. i once had an argument with a man who refused to engage with my points and instead picked me up and tossed me toward the ceiling over and over again while saying "wheeeeee"
yo mtg commander people why haven't you all made magic a co-op pve game yet?
like, dungeons where a party of four decks has to deal 60 damage by turn four to beat one enemy, then control 10 enchantments to unlock bonus loot...
like, isn't that what y'all actually want to play?
People look at me and assume my life is easy, but I have problems too. There are too many games I want to play. My friends are unimaginably impressive and way too hot. I donโt like pickles.
lotta people asking if i'm interested in any games like slay the spire right now. 100%. there's one in particular that i can't stop thinking about. it is called slay the spire, and it is exactly like slay the spire.
suuuuper weird and mostly anecdotal but for whatever reason the vaccine made my dick three inches longer, plus wearing a mask has made my lungs stronger, so i can go for hours now. have heard similar things from other guys. try it if you haven't yet, might be the same for you.
luck be a landlord just reminded me of the time i rented two apartments at once in LA because it was so obvious my landlords were going to tear down the first building. they made it unlivable, so i got a new place but kept the old one. they had to pay $12k when they "evicted" me.
so here's how streaming works.
a long time ago someone wrote poj in my chat instead of pog
my viewers are awful and all pretended it was a real thing
then they actually made it a real thing
then they made embellishments of it
i now own it in stained glass ty

HELLO TEXAS. WHOO. who's ready to LAUGH TONIGHT. let me start by telling you, cause libterals have gotten WAY out of CONTROL lately, right? my prounouns are: ISHMAEL. Some years ago - never mind how long precisely - having little or no money in my purse, and nothing part (1/5201)
when i worked w/ softgiving i had to negotiate for them to let me run more than one charity event per two months, they didnโt let me join friendsโ events, suggested i eat dog food, when i tripled their algorithmโs goal for me their rep called my manager โsmug bitchโ in writing.
Over a period of two years, Brandfluence โ then known as Softgiving โ quietly collected 42 percent of donations from some of Twitch's most-watched charity streams, public tax records show.

confession: a year ago i hired an actor to stream for me. he is hooked up to a vtuber rig of my face, and i told him to say "the boot" when he found the boot and to take wraith form every time it was offered. he is 90% as funny as me and has a slightly higher silent winrate.
streaming the SLAY THE SPIRE BOARDGAME at 4pm pt with GARY (main dev on the project!).
i'm not being paid to promote this, but i should disclose that i have been playing slay the spire for four years or whatever and think it's okay. have also met the devs and they're cool.
the depp-heard trial is over, but our ability to learn from it is not. here at buzzfeed, we've collected ten of the most resonant things that fortnite streamers commenting on the trial have said about domestic violence.
a lot of people don't realize how expensive streaming is. it's not just a camera and a microphone. i attend regular conferences to keep up with the latest memes. my stylist touches up my gamer look regularly. i have seven therapists.
okay so complete unhinged thread rant incoming, but y'all gotta stop using dice in video games.
dice are physical objects which are interesting because it's fun to roll them. you can't roll dice in a video game, so the entire reason dice are fun doesn't exist from the start. ->
my cat has tackled winter by sleeping snuggled under the covers with me, then yowling at me for food, then moving to my office where there is a heated bed that he sleeps in while i work, then yowling at me for food, then yowling at me to go to bed so he can snuggle with me again.
huge jorbs discord drama: the person who posts our daily catgirl posted a foxgirl and our moderation team made it the official catgirl of the day, but then our catgirl poster posted the daily catgirl and pointed out that a foxgirl should not be catgirl of the day.
i remember dating 10 years ago, i'd try to hide that i loved strategy games. "not up to much... reading and relaxing".
now 80,000+ people follow my twitch channel and i talk or think about those games 16 hours a day.
if you're passionate about something don't hide it! do it!
