Jim Harbaugh shouldn't be allowed to attend practice or film sessions. The penalty is not stiff enough.
Michigan has become a renegade, win-at-all-costs program, complete with deflect and denial.
Suspended twice in the same season for different violations?
It's pretty hard…
College football as a sport, and sportsmanship in general, has a chance to improve with
#JimHarbaugh
out of the game.
He is a dishonorable man and his program was a disgrace to college football for the past three years.
Apparently it's news around here that Tom Izzo sometimes aggressively challenges players during time outs. You haven't been paying attention for the last 24 years and 600 wins?
Aaron Henry in the locker room moments ago: "I signed up to be a part of this. I’m loving this so far. I hope he keeps coaching me like that. I hope I get yelled at more, not that I’m messing up, but just keep going."
Tom Izzo: “What a great day to be a Spartan.” Michigan State football beat No. 8 Northwestern, Michigan State hockey beat No. 10 Ohio State, 3-2. Izzo’s Spartans beat Notre Dame 80-70.
No jawing or taunting from Michigan State players after this game as they raced to the tunnel and off the field. Good for them, and good for college football.
Michigan State o-line coach and run game coordinator Chris Kapilovic was asked to tell a story about Kenneth Walker III. He mentioned that Walker has an NIL deal and Walker shared it with the offensive linemen.
Question that went unasked: Jim, are you concerned that these wins and championships, and any subsequent wins, will be stripped by the NCAA in the future?
Mel Tucker on Keon Coleman: “I was happy for Keon last night. He did a really nice job. I’m always pulling for him. I’m very close with him. I recruited him myself. I’m close with him and his family and I was happy for him.”
Sunday will usher in Tom Izzo’s 25th straight NCAA Tournament appearance, THE MOST EVER by a men’s D-1 college basketball coach, breaking Mike Krzyzewski’s record of 24.
Retweet if Izzo has changed March for you forever.

Tom Izzo: “I’m really proud of my team. I don’t throw that word around very often. I thought we battled a lot of people today. Purdue is a very good team, worthy of their ranking. They have just as good a chance as anybody to win the National Championship. So where does that put…
Dantonio began tabulating production points for defensive players as a way of grading film with Nick Saban in 1995. Dantonio said Joe Bachie had 53 production points against Northwestern.
"That's the highest production points that I've ever seen," Dantonio said.
Haller said Dantonio will be in a headset either on the sideline or in the booth.
Haller said "our student-athletes were fired up when I mentioned this to them."
Cassius Winston on Izzo at the NCAA podium right now: “He’s the first one to yell but he’ll be the first one to cry. It’s all emotion. It’s all him caring for you.”
Gerry DiNardo on BTN's tour stop at Michigan State today: "This is our 10th stop, to me this is the team that has made the most progress from last year."
Tom Izzo on Tre Holloman: "You know when you put the stickers on (the bracket board) for the team that moves forward? The team votes who does that, and it was unanimous that Tre (Holloman) was the guy.
"It wasn't because he's from here, it's because of the lift he gave us and…
Aaron Henry on Joshua Langford's clutch 15-footer with :28 seconds left: “I call that one six in the morning. There ain’t a day when he isn’t taking that shot when I walk in the gym at six in the morning. That was going in when it left his hand.”
Major show of strength by Mel Tucker and Harlon Barnett to get a foot in the door with 6-foot-4 Miami DB/WR Gabe Nealy. Then impressive, orchestrated effort during the virtual visit today to get a commitment. New ground for Michigan State football.
Cute. But do you think they did this on their own, or Harbaugh choreographed it? If it was Harbaugh's plan, or he at least okayed it, it's essentially Harbaugh staging a protest for himself (against his administration). Of course he will play dumb and act like he didn't know…
I have never seen an athlete make a rise quite like Barringer. Was basically cut from Illinois as a walk-on, basically cut from Michigan State as a walk-on, and kept working and growing and got back on the team, and then became the best punter in college football.
And now this.…
Michigan State set to host Gaylord (Mich.) four-star linebacker Brady Preztlaff for an official visit Dec. 8-10…
Pretzlaff is currently committed to Minnesota.
(On3+):
Tom Izzo: "We did a great job on their bigs, I’m just telling you. Our bigs, for all the fans that malign ‘em, be careful because they did a great job. Mady Sissoko gets nine rebounds. What he did was phenomenal."
#MichiganState
Amazing quote from Chicago native Raequan Williams today: “You have to make the right moral decision every day if you want to make it from the place I came from. The place I came from, you can just say yes to a situation and end up dead. I’m very blessed to make it out.”
Dave Wannstedt on BTN: “I competed against Mark and got to know him when I was at Pittsburgh at Cincinnati and I’ve always said if I had a son, Dantonio would be one that I would want my son to go play for.”
If I were an MSU fan, Dantonio's demeanor at the press conference today is exactly what I would want to see out of him. Attention to detail and discipline? He seemed to embody those things. I would anticipate progress this week.
Statement from Alan Haller on Tucker's firing:
“Simply put, Mr. Tucker’s response does not provide any information that refutes or undermines the multiple grounds for termination for cause set forth in the notice,” Haller said. “Instead, his 25-page response, which includes a…
Many NCAA cases involve a lot of gray areas. This case might be much clearer than most. If so, would the NCAA move quickly on a penalty? If the NCAA finds these allegations to be true, would the NCAA make Michigan ineligible for postseason play this year?
Sources: Michigan staffer Connor Stalions bought tickets for more than 30 games at 11 Big Ten schools over the past three years. Also, video evidence of sideline taping is expected to be sent to the NCAA this week, caught by stadium surveillance this year.
Much-deserved.
Mark Dantonio worked wonders at Michigan State. Not the easiest job, but sometimes he made it look that way.
Michigan State is fortunate to still have him around as part of the campus community.
Mark Dantonio was good or college football.
LEGEND CEMENTED!
Mark Dantonio,

Okay, I'm not playin'. I'm always very careful to make sure I'm not over-hyping a commitment. But MSU's latest commitment, from four-star Florida DB Chuck Brantley is major, major. Tremendous film. Major get for Tucker/Barnett. I'm kind of floored.
Excellent big-bodied WR with hands and acceleration to match. When watching his film, it’s impressive that Michigan State found a receiver of his capabilities still available for the late signing period.
"We just couldn’t guard Edey. And they don’t let you guard him. They let him go wherever he wants, do whatever he wants and that’s getting a little frustrating too." - Tom Izzo
Story:
Hauser, maybe only half joking: "I blame all of my shots (against Gonzaga) on the wind, Friday night. I knew once we got into a controlled environment I would be okay."
That might be the best run I've seen by a RB in college football all year, and Michigan State NEEDED it after being in a hole all third quarter. Longest rushing TD in school history.
With the commitment from Texas A&M d-end Tunmise Adeleye, and some creative use of in-state transfer walk-ons, MSU's transfer portal class is ranked No. 1 in the nation in the On3 Transfer Portal Rankings:
Tom Izzo "hopes 15,000 rise to their feet" tonight to honor first responders who saved the life of his longtime friend and assistant coach, Mike Garland, last summer.
✍️ Story:
Michigan State freshman Coen Carr with 28 points tonight, including these 2, but his team lost to Jaxon Kohler’s team (43 points) in the Championship Game of the 2023 Moneyball Pro-Am at Holt High School tonight.
Michigan State makes it official, is hiring Joe Rossi as defensive coordinator. Press release has gone out.
Quote from Jonathan Smith:
“Joe Rossi has been nationally recognized for constructing one of the best defenses in the nation over the past few seasons,” said Smith. “He…
Lombardi asked if fans should be excited about direction of the program: “They should be really excited. Coach Tucker is amazing. He has done a great job. He’s the real deal and he’s going to bring us back to where we were and I’m really excited to be a part of it.”
Tom Izzo says he believes this was Jaden Akins' best game at
#MichiganState
.
Called it a "four-dimensional" game.
Izzo loved his defense, rebounding, scoring AND passing.

Amazing story by SpartanMag's Jake Lyskawa about Mady Sissoko's journey to Michigan State and his new quest to use his NIL funds to build a school in his native town of Bafoulabe, Mali.

The player to be named later in the Derrick Harmon trade.
Just kidding.
But seriously, Harmon goes to Oregon, impacts their depth chart.
Oregon DT Roberts sees an opportunity open up at Michigan State, and goes for it.
Losing Harmon hurt. But Roberts is a quality candidate…
Xavier Tillman, in Zoom interview, says he took six classes this summer in order to graduate in three years. He has two days left and finishes on Thursday.
Tom Izzo: “You hold them, they don’t score and they get 19 second-chance points. That shouldn’t happen to us. I’m getting soft. Maybe we’ll get back to normal a little bit and quit worrying about the lawyers and get back to what I do. This whole thing is my fault. I’m taking the…
Izzo with tears in his eyes as he left the court here in Greenville, after doing postgame interviews. Have never seen him this emotional after a First Round victory.
The nation’s top sophomore, Emoni Bates, will be on campus at Michigan State today; joining him will be Rivals150 juniors Caleb Furst, Kobe Bufkin, Jaden Adkins, and Pierre Brooks

Tom Izzo met with media today as part of a Boys & Girls Club free camp, in conjunction with Grind Week.
He said Jaden Akins has been “shooting the sugar” out of the ball. Says Coen Carr is an extremely har worker. AJ Hoggard has slimmed down. Says all players have improved.…
There are so many people I would like to thank for their help and support throughout my recruiting process. But without further delay, I would like to announce my commitment to NIU!

Six times, Michigan State has gone one-and-done at the Big Ten Tournament. Four of those times, the Spartans went on to advance out of the first weekend of the NCAA Tournament (including three Final Fours).
Can this team rebound for a similar run?
✍️
MSU OC Jay Johnson on WR Keon Coleman: "I think he could really be a key player for us." Was impressed that Keon was back with the football team the day after the basketball season ended. Says he could "skyrocket" as he progresses.
Izzo on Carson Cooper:
“He played his tail off,” Izzo said. “He played as hard as anybody. He rebounded as well as anybody. He led us in points, he led us in rebounds and he led us in missed free throws. He played as good as anybody played yet when you go 1-of-4 from the free…
🔥 Keep an eye on this CB from Tampa Wharton High, Dijon Johnson. I'm hearing he will be at MSU's spring scrimmage on Saturday. His offer list is outstanding, as is his film.
@DijonJohnson13
The last time Michigan State started a season 4-5, three months later they were 12-3 in the Big Ten and Chris Hill was shooting a free throw with :01 second left with a chance to win the Big Ten Championship.
As first reported at the SpartanMag Underground Bunker message board on Saturday, Michigan State officially announced today that WRs coach Courtney Hawkins has been retained by new head coach Jonathan Smith.
A truly great commitment video. Doing it from the steps of St. Cecilia's was a wonderful homage to that gym. I loved how he reached out to the public for safety and togetherness at the outset of the announcement, putting himself second. Just a perfect video, all class.
Mark Dantonio, Gideon Smith, Flozell Adams and Darryl Rogers are on the 2024 ballot for College Football Hall of Fame voting.
Dantonio's record and accomplishments stack up very favorably with some coaches who are already in the Hall. He should get in at some point.
Tucker on MSU's linebackers: "I believe it's going to be a really strong group for us and maybe the strength of our defense."
Haladay, Snow, Brulé, Windmon, Gaoteote, VanSumeren
