Some stats from Japo's 2024 in music!!! Here y'all have my TOP10 albums of the year and my most streamed album, artist and song of each month!!! I will be updating it all as the year goes by!!!
Hi y'all, I'm former Rap 24/7. I have decided to rest for a while of Twitter. You may have seen I have deleted all my posts (I'm very sorry for the Moots Battles contestants) but I think I had to do it in order to have a cool new start. I will be posting my reviews at 12:00 ET
JID's THE NEVER STORY REVIEW!!!
JID showed his great potential in the album. The Dreamville influence is notable, not only because of the 6LACK, EARTHGANG and Mereba features, but also because of the beat selection and thematic. How y'all feel about the upcoming JID album???
J COLE'S 2014 FOREST HILLS DRIVE REVIEW!!!
Y'all can say J Cole is my GOAT and I am just glazing. I accept it, but 2014 was also the album that introduced me into hip-hop, and it's as good storytelling-wise as GKMC (another easy 100). You can't say none of them isn't perfect
NAS' ILLMATIC REVIEW!!!
Today is the 30th anniversary of this masterpiece!!! I want to remark that I placed One Time 4 Your Mind as the worst song, though all of them are straight 10s for me. Are y'all excited for the upcoming collab album by Nas and DJ Premier???
FRANK OCEAN'S BLONDE REVIEW!!!
Request by
@Frankly_HipHop
Frankly asked me to review Blonde around three months ago. I had never listened to any Frank album at the time, and in my first listen I didn't really like it. This time has helped me to fully appreciate this masterpiece
METRO BOOMIN'S HEROES & VILLAINS REVIEW!!!
My favorite Metro album and his best alongside Without Warning. The highs are super high, while there are barely lows that Metro fix perfectly. There is still room for improvement, I have high hopes on the third part of the Heroes series
FUTURE & METRO BOOMIN'S WE DON'T TRUST YOU REVIEW!!!
It didn't disappointed, we got real bangers. In my opinion, it's the AOTY to the date, right before Blue Lips by ScHoolboy Q and Marciology by Roc Marciano. Do y'all think We Still Don't Trust You will be better than WDTY???
FREDDIE GIBBS & THE ALCHEMIST'S ALFREDO REVIEW!!!
The only things that avoid Alfredo, one of the best albums of the 20s, to be a 10/10, is the skip Look at Me and some weak lyricism by the always good-sounding Freddie. The Alchemist doesn't miss in the whole project, as per usual
J COLE'S MIGHT DELETE LATER REVIEW
I think it was a great album with good replay value. The first listen wasn't that good because of the low quality of the 7 Minute Drill diss considering the expectatives. However, it became better and I could see the great lyricism on most songs
CONWAY THE MACHINE'S GOD DON'T MAKE MISTAKES REVIEW!!!
Griselda is, easily the highest quality and most prolific label nowadays. Their exploration of this kind of heart-touching rapping (while keeping their style) is amazing. I am very excited for Conway's upcoming album, SFK
FREDDIE GIBBS & MADLIB'S BANDANA REVIEW!!!
Which one do y'all prefer, Piñata or Bandana? For me it changes every day for real. Both are 10s in my opinion, that Freddie flow over Madlib's beats (the best producer of all time) is something else. I'm so excited for Montana this year
DENZEL CURRY'S MELT MY EYEZ SEE YOUR FUTURE REVIEW!!!
Request by
@traviscottstan1
The second classic album for Denzel Curry, following TA13OO, which I didn't think he could top. However, he managed to do it somehow with MMESYF, whit a whole different style but the same rawness
JPEGMAFIA & DANNY BROWN'S SCARING THE HOES REVIEW!!!
I had never listened to any JPEG's album before this one, and now I can confirm I am obligued to catch up with him. I don't usually like experimental hip-hop that much, but the sound of this album manages to be great somehow
Here is the second round of the Rap 24/7 Almums Bracket!!! Vote for your favorites down below (it will last 3 days). Wich project do you think will win it all???
CHRIS PATRICK'S THE CALM REVIEW!!!
I was very surprised with my first listen of The Calm. I didn't really know Chris Patrick before it, and, when I listened The Calm, I really loved it. The passion he puts on avery song is something special for real...
KANYE WEST & TY DOLLA SING'S REVIEW!!!
Here I just want to remark that Talking isn't in the TOP3 because of North's verse, but Ty Dolla's magestic performance: arguably the best in the album with the Freddie GIbbs's verse. Do y'all think Vultures II is dropping on 3rd May???
The 100 followers special is finished!!! I promised y'all that I would post my ideal album, in which I would choose the concept, title, cover, main artist (or artists), features, producers, length, and which existing songs would compose it. Lets get it then!!!
SCHOOLBOY Q'S BLUE LIPS REVIEW!!!
This 2024 Q album is very good, for me, it's in the same conversation as Oxymoron (his best in my opinion) and Blank Face LP. It also has some of his most sentimental stuff, making some references to his great friend Mac Miller's death (RIP Mac)
I see everyone is doing this, so... Name an artist in the comments and I will rank it!!!
10: stan
9: strongly love
8: love
7: strongly like
6: like
5: neutral
4: dislike
3: strongly dislike
2: hate
1: strongly hate
DANNY BROWN'S ATROCITY EXHIBITION REVIEW!!!
Request by
@iMyxfr
I had already reviewed Quaranta (85/100, though it's my favorite Danny's album) and Scaring the Hoes (95/100, collab with JPEGMAFIA), and, despite of both of these being amazing, Atrocity Exhibition is another level
JOEY BADA$$' 1999 REVIEW!!!
Day 1 of Joey's full discog review
If you have been following me for a while, you must know I had this album as a 65 when I reviewed it a year ago. It's crazy how wanting to know better an artist makes you think differently about his music
PARTYNEXTDOOR'S P4 REVIEW!!!
That's my first full listen to any PARTYNEXTDOOR album. His sound is pretty fire, but it is better listening to it without focusing on the lyrics. Maybe I have to tap into any of his old projects. Lose my Mind will be on repeat though
FUTURE & METRO BOOMIN'S WE STILL DON'T TRUST YOU REVIEW!!!
First of all, I want to clarify why I have chosen J Cole as the best feature though Rocky's is in the same level for me: the timing of this Cole feature makes it so damn unexpected that I just couldn't let it slide
NAS & HIT-BOY'S MAGIC II REVIEW!!!
Magic II is just so unfair... Someone the age of Nas and with an almost 30-year-old career shouldn’t be able to do something that good. It extents to the whole series, of course: Magic II isn’t even the best of the six collab albums with Hit-Boy
4BATZ'S U MADE ME A ST4R REVIEW!!!
It's a very boring project that only depends on whether you like 4batz's voice or you don't. I actually prefer his real voice, the one he uses in some slowed down outros. I can't stand the insubstantial lyrics
KANYE WEST'S YE REVIEW!!!
One of my favorite Kanye albums ever: not bloated at all and every song is high-quality. It enters my personal TOP3 for sure, behind MBDTF and TCD. By the way, someone has to study these Wyoming sessions, the production in Ye, Daytona, KSG... is top tier
We have these confirmed features on 21 Savage American Dream: Travis Scott, Burna Boy, Lil Durk, Young Thug... 21 has posted Kanye West and Earl Sweatshirt photos too...
How many tracks do you think American Dream will have??? I think 17. Who guesses it will get a shoutout!!!
What would y'all like me to do for my 300 followers special??? I will do all of these sooner or later, but the most voted one will be the first one to be done!!!
MIDWXST'S E3 REVIEW!!!
Request by
@TractorScottLF
The debut album of Midwxst isn't very good, but his highs show some great potential on the emo-rap artist. I like the fact that the whole album is fully produced by Sophie Gray, a 18-year-old who did a very versatile work in E3
DANNY BROWN'S QUARANTA REVIEW!!!
I never ceases to impress me the fact that Danny had the 2023 AOTY on Scaring the Hoes and also a TOP5 album of the year with Quaranta. And even more if you see how different these projects are. In my opinion, Danny was the rapper of 2023 by far
SONNY DIGITAL'S DOLORES SON REVIEW!!!
This 2023 album by the producer Sonny Digital not only have real bangers on it, but it also is a very good narration of Sonny's childhood. The production, as can be expected is fire
DAVE'S PSYCHODRAMA REVIEW!!!
Request by
@PenguinRiskYt
Psychodrama is simply one of the best rap albums of all time (if not the best). The combination of vivid storytelling, social protest and straight bars is just too much. I just don't see the point on Voices to be honest
JAY-Z'S 4:44 REVIEW!!!
That's one of my favorite albums of the late 10s, and, in my opinion, TOP5 albums by JAY-Z. The production on it is so perfect... Not much more to say, it's simply a masterpiece which would be an amazing way to end a legendary career
The song of the day today, 19/01/2024 is... Giannis, by Freddie Gibbs & Madlib ft Anderson .Paak!!! Do y'all prefer Piñata (here is my review: ) or Bandana???
I know most of the songs that go viral or are the most recognizable aren't always good... But saying Bound 2 isn't TOP 5 in Yeezus is a wannabe-Fantano thing...
CONWAY THE MACHINE'S SLANT FACE KILLAH REVIEW!!!
I really had trouble deciding who had the best feature in the album: Joey Bada$$ (so much class), Stove God Cooks (never misses on a Griselda feature) or Tech N9ne. I chose Tech because he is truly the heart of Raw!
JACKBOYS' JACKBOYS REVIEW!!!
I had to do a quick review on some Travis project today it is his birthday... I am not hating on Jackboys, it is a good compilation, but it isn't comparable to other label's debuts, like Griselda's WWCD or Dreamville's Revenge of the Dreamers
GUNNA'S ONE OF WUN REVIEW!!!
The jokes of "Gunna just only have one song and he changes the lyrics of it" will end up being true. I love some of his albums, like Drip Harder or Drip or Drown, and I think that's because they are not bloated at all; unlike One of Wun
The song of the day today, 23/01/2024 is... GODM!!! Will 2014 Forest Hills Drive lose to The Forever Story??? I thought it would happend the opposite... Vote for this matchup and some other on my pinned post!!!
The song of the day today, 21/01/2024 is... Devil in a New Dress by Kanye West ft Rick Ross!!! My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy and Graduation are both winning by 95+ percent on my pinned bracket!!! Will some of them wit it all???
Vote in the bracket in my profile!!!
MEEK MILL'S HEATHENISM REVIEW!!!
We had a pretty long time without any Meek new drop. Despite it's very short, just 5 songs, I would like to remark how hungry the Philadelphia rapper sounds in this EP
@Omari_stan
both are my fav songs on h&v and wdty respecctively, but feel the fiyaaaah is better. that takeoff verse rapping the alphabet is so damn perfect
DANNY BROWN'S UKNOWHATIMSAYIN¿ REVIEW!!!
This is the most overlooked Danny album, being a middle point between the Atrocity Exhibition eccentricity and the amazing Quaranta lyricism. It takes the best from both sides. If you add Q-Tip on the beats, you get a classic
Bruiser Wolf (
@theebruiserwolf
) was on a Danny Brown meeting talking about his new album coming in January 2024, and he revealed the title: My Story Got Stories!!! I am actually pretty excited for this one.
If you want to discover some Danny and Bruiser collabs, check YBP.
CHILDISH GAMBINO'S ATAVISTA REVIEW!!!
At first I had it as a 7/10. Then I got to Little Foot Big Foot, song that I had high hopes on because of the Young Nudy feature, and the rating went down to 6/10. I liked The Violence and, so it ended in the middle point
JAY-Z'S THE BLACK ALBUM REVIEW!!!
Crazy how Hov freestyled Justify my Thug, without writing any of the verses on it. Thank God he didn't retire after this masterpiece, we would't have got classics like The Blueprint III or 4:44
I love this kind of tweets... I would sit at desk 6, with Graduation and The Melodic Blue. I love Jeffrey, Piñata, good kid mAAd city... Desk 5 is the closest, with The Forever Story and Atrocity Exhibition.
I have received the word AFRO from
@HotPocketsRBad
:
- A: Amari by J Cole (The Fall-Off)
- F: First Person Shooter by Drake ft J Cole (For All the Dogs)
- R: Run by Killer Mike ft Young Thug (MICHAEL)
- O: One Mic, One Gun by Nas ft 21 Savage (Magic 2)
It would be good kid mAAd city, but it is the second album from KDot (Section.80 is his debut, right?); so I'll go with The College Dropout, though it hurts me not choosing Cole World...
BLXST'S NO LOVE LOST REVIEW!!!
I discovered Blxst the past year thanks to his feature on Killer Mike's RAOTY-winning album Michael. Since my first listen to No Love Lost, it has been my go-to album (along with Spilligion by JID & EARTHGANG)when reading, sleeping or just chilling
The song of the day today, 17/01/2024 is… Oh My Dis Side, by Travis Scott ft Quavo!!!
@apollowrld
asked me to review Rodeo a while ago, and I am going to do it soon!!!
BENNY THE BUTCHER'S TANA TALK IV REVIEW!!!
Great project but I have to talk about that verse by J Cole. It's probably the best feature of the 20s: the flow, the lyricism, the rawness on his voice... It really reminds me to 2014 FHD Cole...
My favorite song on every J Cole album:
- 🙋🏿♂️🌎 Work Out
- 👶🏿👿 Let Nas Down
- 📈🆙 Knock on Wood Freestyle
- 🌲🚘 GODM
- 🫵🏿👁️ Change
- 👑👧🏿 Photograph
- 🏀🔥 Close
Which are y'all choices???
ROC MARCIANO'S MARCIOLOGY REVIEW!!!
The production of the projects is just so amazing that it should make us think about Marci as one of the best producers ever (his whole discography agrees too). If it wasn't for The Calm by Chris Patrick, Marciology would be my AOTY
ANGRY BLACKMEN'S THE LEGEND OF ABM REVIEW!!! I have been able to see why they call themselves "angry". Now seriously, Brian Warren ans Quentin Branch, the members of the duet, have a very promising future in the Chicago expetimental hip-hop landscape
