It's entertaining to see so many "Latin America experts" get themselves up in a tizzy over @BernieSanders comments regarding Cuba. Especially those employed by a company that is paid to lobby for the coup government in Bolivia. @lhfang

Some quick thoughts on the news from Haiti last night and what it all means. And by news from Haiti, I mean statements made in Jamaica and Puerto Rico about the future of Haiti.

When a Haitian is extradited to US to face charges, they are paraded onto the tarmac for a perp walk photo op. When Americans are extradited, they’re led to the American Airlines ticket counter without cuffs by @USEmbassyHaiti

At @The_Dialogue event on Haiti earlier this week, the former head of the UN in Haiti, Juan Gabriel Valdés, spoke about his first-hand experience with the US and OAS interfering in the 2010 election. He called it “the origin of the present tragedy.”

@nytimes @ceprdc @OAS_official Unfortunately, this @nytimes article still misses the mark. It allow the OAS to uncritically point to other allegations of "fraud" -- and dodge responsibility for their lies that began the day after the vote. Pathetic. For rest of story:

The Haitian government is complicit in crimes against humanity, a new report from @HarvardLawHRP finds. Someone should tell @hrw and @amnesty , whose 408-page annual report doesn't even mention what is happening in Haiti.

Here is the OAS press release from Oct. 21, the day after Bolivia's election. Imagine how things may have turned out different if they had correctly noted that the trend change was consistent with prior results instead of undermining the election based on a lie.
