I diagnosed 3 pts Friday with MDD all with suicidal ideation and one came in without it being a reason for the visit. A pt told me she had never felt more comfortable talking to someone before. It was one of those days that reassured me I was in the right profession #medtwitter

Today was my first day on inpatient peds GI and my residents consist of a Black male, Black female, Hispanic male, and the fellow had all his pride pins showing and LGBTQ badge. This was BY FAR the most comfortable and relaxed I’ve been since starting medical school.

Advice for all incoming med students, especially URMs/1st gen. Know that you have to go out and get it yourself, nobody’s going to give you sh*t. Program directors won’t reach out to you, research opportunities won’t just appear, nobody will come to your aid. You gotta get that.

My advice to incoming MS3/2s on wards: When rounding, for your plan always be decisive and definitive. You’ll probably be wrong, but that’s okay! The attendings don’t care if you’re wrong, they just want you to think through it on your own! Also, it’s a great way to learn!
