Nothing like wallowing in sloppy mud while devouring rotten fish. That’s how a Malayan Water Monitor lives it’s best life. Its a dirty job, but these lizards play an essential role in removal of decay & disease control. It’s a bonus that they are gorgeous and personality packed

Spotted this Sunda Colugo yesterday morning. It was comfortable enough with my presence to go through its cleaning routine. I had the rare opportunity to see the amazing gliding membrane that allows these unique critters to glide for over 100 meters between trees.

Here is a Flowerpot Snake. She is the second smallest snake on the planet. How do I know she is a she? They are all shes! These ladies just keeps cloning themselves. No sperm required! Perhaps that’s why she is smiling ☺️

The unmistakable electric blue of the stunning Blue Malayan Coral Snake. As deadly as it is beautiful, it shows no aggression towards people. Its preferred meal is juvenile cobras. When your dinner bites back you need a powerful venom to bring it under control quickly.

Each time I go to the West Coast I try to photograph Steller’s Jay. I have many blurs and tail shots to prove how difficult it is to catch them sitting still in good light. This guy landed on the roof of a neighboring cabin at first light to give me my only reasonable shot.

I spotted this beautiful Shore Pit Viper today. I don’t get to the mangroves as often as I should. When I do it is always a thrill to find a viper. This is a highly venomous snake with a reputation for having a bad temper when approached. A longer lens is the safest choice.

Paradise Tree Snakelet (Chrysopelea paradisi) - this Snakelet was so small that my first impression was that I was looking at a centipede. It’s diminutive size was more than made up for by its vibrant colours.

Urban wildlife at its finest! This baby Reticulated Python was coiled on a railing along a busy foot and cycle path. I guess I watched at least 200 people walk close by with no idea that they had just passed a python.

Huge excitement! After a storm I opened my door to find a Brahminy Blind Snake outside. One of the smallest snakes on the planet, this species spends its life underground. It looks like & behaves like a worm. Next time you see a very dark worm after heavy rain, take a close look

How cool is this! I get to a hotel and walk out on to the balcony and not only is there a snake waiting for me, but it’s a lifer for me (Golden Flying Snake). I’m not even on a wildlife holiday! 🤩 Wait to the end when it sees me 😅

I found a Brahminy Blind Snake last night. This little piece of string was just a few centimetres long and less than 2 millimetres across. The smallest reptile that I’ve ever found. Hard to recognise as a snake but if you look closely you can see the tiny little forked tongue.

Lesser Mousedeer - meet one of the smallest hoofed animal on the planet. Size of a lanky rabbit. I spotted this little male snuffling for food under fruit trees where macaques were feeding. Uncommon sighting! Look at his little sniffy nose 🥰
