London was founded by the Romans as 'Londinium' a few years after the invasion of 43AD. It was abandoned around 60AD after Boudica's revolt, but grew quickly to 60,000 inhabitants in the 2nd century. Here's a map of London town around the year 400

Actually, it was already called London. The Romans were just romanizing the name of the city that was already there. Please don't tweet incorrect things.

I read that the origin of the word London is from "Lugh's den" same root for the word leprechaun? I meant to look up to see if that is true.
