The Fridtjov statue in Norway was a gift from the German Kaiser Wilhelm II, raised in 1913, depicting a hero from one of the Norse Sagas. It is truly colossal standing at 12 meters or ~40 feet tall. The Kaiser used to visit the town of Vangsnes where it is located.

Fun fact: even to this day, goats are used to keep the grass on turf roofs in check. It used to trip me out driving past old buildings and seeing a solitary goat up there, as I thought it was stuck, but no! Perfectly happy. From Gudvangen, Norway, 1870.

Bergenhus Fortress is one of the oldest and best preserved fortifications in Norway. The area has been in use since the 1100s, though it has been continually changed and added upon since then. The tower to the left was built in the 1500s and the rightmost hall around 1260!
