Unpopular opinion: Cutting the nets for a sectional championship is absolutely unnecessary. Cutting the nets for one, maybe two, wins over teams with a losing record...sometimes for the 1,785th straight year. Let’s just spare the nets please...

Four of the five starters for Ashland, arguably the best D2 team in the country, started their careers coming off the bench or even limited minutes. Yet I hear about kids complaining about their roles and minutes almost daily. Team has to be a bigger priority than self.

A parent texted me today thanking me for coaching their child hard & my high expectations of them. I thanked them for allowing me to do those things. There’s a world of difference in kids whose parents allow them to be coached, pushed, held accountable & who don’t, in college.

So many kids get a D1 letter or their AAU coach tells them they talked to a D1 coach about them, and they completely start ignoring D2/D3/NAIA...big mistake. Most of these kids struggle to get recruited in the long run.

One month ago today I decided to cut out processed sugar, so no candy, desserts, pretty much any drink besides water. I weighed a very healthy 294 pounds back then, this morning I clocked in at 264. The goal is to do this for 3 months, I’ll see where it can lead me.

Incoming freshman, if you want a chance to play as a freshman this season, be with your high school team and not some useless AAU tourney in June! If it’s not a live period you should without a doubt be with your high school team if they are playing!

I’ve been to almost 2,000 games in my life, and I’ve never ever seen something like this! @NapCatsGBK fans filled the bleachers and the end zone seats an hour before tip off. Legit filled the place, 60 minutes BEFORE tip!

@HilandAthletics Hiland busts their rear ends all year round to be the best. You think they care what anyone on Twitter has to say? They only have 12-13 players, no one plays more than 16 minutes & they don’t press in blowouts. This is a yearly thing, don’t cry, get better.

I tell the players this, but it needs to be said publicly as well. Every kid that attends my events I want them to be successful, no matter what HS or AAU program they play in, that’s irrelevant to me! I will work for every single one!

So many great teams have lost in regionals, that is nothing to take for granted. Appreciate the opportunity. A very very small percentage of players ever get the chance to play in a regional game. A regional loss does not take anything away from a great season!

If you only allow your children to be coached, trained, evaluated etc by people who only kiss their rear end and shower them with praise...you’re leading them down a hurtful path. One that won’t benefit them long beyond their HS and/or college careers are over...

Of the 16 teams heading to Columbus this week only 2 have a perfect record, 11 of the 16 have multiple losses, there are 40 losses heading to Columbus with teams still playing for a state championship! Moral of the story? Don’t be afraid of great competition, push your teams!

It baffles me why coaches play young kids varsity only and they only get a few minutes a night. You want a return on an asset that you’re not investing in. Makes no sense. The varsity bench isn’t helping a young player grow and improve more than JV minutes will...

HS coaches: you aren’t doing yourself, your team, or your players any good by keeping them in the entire game in the summer. You’re putting them at a higher risk for injury. It’s the summer, get other kids some work too. You’re only as good as your weakest link!

I haven’t been home since July 19th and I don’t regret it for a minute. Traveling and spending time in the gym isn’t exhausting to me, it doesn’t get old...these are some of the best days of my life with some of the people I love the most in my life. I love it! 🌹🏀🌹

I see so many posts saying that playing at any level in college is a privilege, yet they aren’t treated the same. Here’s an idea, if we want kids to see the value in all of it, stop only writing articles & worshipping the D1 commits. Hypocrites. Kids see who gets the most love.

I’ll see your 1,000 shots & raise you 2,250!! @lpflanndize worked out 8-1 today, 3,250 shots, 207 for 250 from the line! Couldn’t get into the ball closet so she ran home and pulled the 1,000 point ball and the @SkyDigg4 ball to use...60% the last 500 shots! Any questions?

If I’ve said it once I’ve said it a thousand times, kids and mostly parents, don’t understand what college coaches are lookin for. While they’re yelling for their kids to shoot the coaches would rather see them play some D, show energy on the bench, get after loose balls...

If you wanna be a perimeter player on the offensive end you dang well better be able to guard a perimeter player on the defensive end. Most players want that glamour of scoring from the perimeter, but not the hard work, toughness and quickness it takes to defend on the perimeter.

What parents and players have to understand is there is a ceiling to someone’s potential. It’s possible to put up 1000 shots a day or do 3 hours of ball handling daily and still not be very good. That work is awesome but it doesn’t guarantee you playing time or a scholarship.
