When I worked at the BBC, we’d get sent the viewers log, detailing emails/calls/letters about specific shows and channels. Every single day there were complaints about black, LGBTQ+ and even disabled people appearing on shows, so 144 complaints is unsurprising and will be ignored

#DoctorWho : over 100 people have written to the BBC, complaining about the inclusion of a human being in The Star Beast.

@GuyLambertUK I would prefer complaints to receive a reply explaining why.

@juddmin If there was a significant number, they’d issue a statement, but 144 is so low it’s not worth it

@GuyLambertUK It's a shame they can't reply directly to them and tell them to 'F off', but it would be unprofessional.

@GuyLambertUK They have responded in a way. By putting an interview with Yasmin Finney on the front page of their news website today. As close to a ‘go get f**ked’ to the complainers as they can go.

@GuyLambertUK 'Hello? Is that the BBC? I'd like to complain. There's someone on TV who isn't exactly like me!' 'And..?'

@GuyLambertUK Also now that the show is being largely paid for at the behest of Disney. I think BBC complaints will have even less teeth.
