Many years ago, I fell out with a friend who worked with me in TV. He went on to present a major national radio show and one morning, he found the opportunity not only to name me but to slag me off in front of his 1-2 million listeners. It was beyond humiliating. (1/3)
Back then, I was coming out of a very bad time personally and professionally. This was like he'd assaulted me. I was riddled with anxiety, worried I was going to lose my job and I felt unbelievable shame at being ripped apart on a respected public platform with no comeback. (2/3)
When presenters talk, it feels to the public like they're speaking on behalf of an organisation. They have a fundamental duty to treat people with dignity. What Laurence Fox and Dan Wootton did to Ava Evans was not only abuse, it was assault.
@GBNews
should fire them now. (3/3)

"An assault is any act (and not mere omission to act) by which a person intentionally or recklessly causes another to suffer or apprehend immediate unlawful violence." IANAL, but I think this does apply.
