One of the biggest unanswered BBC questions is why on Earth they don’t put
#CBBC
dramas on BBC One Sunday afternoons. I’m baffled. So much good stuff is made by CBBC and goes ignored by adults who would love it. Children’s drama needs more attention by ALL
@GRALCreates
The only thing I can think of is the same as why they don't/can't show The Mallorca Files and the like at primetime... perhaps there's a different rate for the talent for daytime/CBBC shows that stops them from doing it?
@AndrewRWhite
I think it’s the policy that certain things suit certain times, yet many entertainment shows make the leap from other parts of the schedule into prime time. I think it’s mostly snobbery about family/children’s drama tbh
@GRALCreates
I used to love reading Oliver Twist, growing up, so this show does have my interest. I can't wait to see Christopher Eccleston also as Fagin
@GRALCreates
Watching it now, it's great, but then Rhys Thomas is brilliant :) Would have been perfect in the slot vacated by Around the World in 80 Days on BBC One, but it will all be down to money sadly.
@GRALCreates
Not sure if it was made specifically for CBBC or not but I'm amazed this wasn't put in the 80 Days slot (and wonder if it would have been if there weren't so much sport on today?)

Popped across to BBC Three and a slot on BBC Two, which produced a rather good drama with Karen Gillan. Unfortunately the funding for that went too so they were a bit stuck
@GRALCreates
I was advised a few years back when things stopped being shown on BBC1 it was all down to reducing budgets. A CBBC show gets/costs less if only shown/commissioned for CBBC or CBeebies. The production company who make a specific show would get more if also planned for BBC1/2 TX.
@MonkeyBoyIDG
Yes indeed. This was the case when I was there and just found out it still is. Such a shame. If only we had more money going into the BBC they could do so much more
@GRALCreates
Budgets? Partly.
I think iPlayer is a far more important route to the target audience.
BBC One can do a wonderful family job, but that takes specific commissioning.
Agree, so much cbbc stuff is great, but also editorially targeted at primary school kids
@StuartRowson
Yeah it's a shame, cos my nephew won't watch CBBC ("it's not cool") Yet every time I do something like judge for Broadcast and tell him about the CBBC shows, he often says they sound great, esp Jamie Johnson (he LOVES football!) Sunday would be a good time for him and his dad
@GRALCreates
Been saying this for years now...add to that list Saturday teatimes as well, after final score...a prime slot for a kids entertainment show like The Slammer or Crackerjack.🤷🏻♂️
