The board have taken the decision to abandon all GMCL fixtures today (Saturday 8th May), due to weather conditions and COVID restrictions on clubhouses.
This will not be a precedent, and is a decision taken in extraordinary circumstances.
Clubs have been advised directly.
We are delighted to announce that 2 more clubs are joining us for 2023. Horwich RMI CC & Westhoughton CC have applied to join and the Board have tonight accepted their applications. The 2 clubs have been notified and we have also issued a letter to all current GMCL club contacts.
It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of Eddie McLoughlin last evening. Eddie was a well liked cricketer becoming an excellent umpire in the MDCA & GMCL.
He is survived by his wife Wendy and daughter Beth to whom we extend our deepest sympathies.
RIP Eddie
We don't know what will happen with league cricket, all we can do is continue to plan to be ready to go. For now our thoughts are with everyone on the frontline fighting this pandemic for us and all those who are unwell or grieving. Please
#staysafe
and protect those around you.
Great news. We await the guidance with interest. Once reviewed we will then ask clubs if they are able to meet the conditions and how many teams they wish to enter.
We are delighted that the UK Government have given their permission for recreational cricket to return from next weekend. We will shortly be publishing our approved guidelines to help clubs and players prepare for cricket's return.
Wishing everyone a good day for the start of the 2020 Season.
Well done to all club officials, players and supporters for getting your clubs ready and risk assessed. All this effort deserves a little sunshine on a grey day.
Enjoy the day and please, stay safe and distanced
Congratulations to the grounds team
@BradshawCricket

To all cricket volunteers, players and lovers of the sport around the world from all of us at GMCL we wish you a peaceful holiday and a very Merry Christmas and wish everyone a successful and happy New Year.
Congrats to the Colts League Team today for an 8 wicket win and for wrapping up a clean sweep of the Senior and Junior Inter League comps for the GMCL in 2018
Our apologies, due to late registrations and illness over Christmas we havent been able to finalise the fixtures yet but will be done soon as possible. As per our AtoZ on website, the season runs 23 April to 18 Sept
Whilst we await final confirmation clubs should prepare to go ahead as planned for all games this weekend, but of course clubs are asked to mark the day appropriately with any flags at half mast and a 2 minute silence should be held prior to all games this weekend. (1/2)
Congratulations to the GMCL Under 12s and Under 14s who were both victorious over
@lancs_league
today in their respective age group finals. Well done everyone involved, match reports to follow
No doubt the topic of discussion at every cricket club is 'can we play'.
As things stand the answer is yes BUT we must continue to follow the social distancing rules and stage 4 adaptive play conditions.
If things change we will be in touch.
