God be like: I want to invite you all to truly enter the desert, give up attachments (even religious ones), be stripped of all but me alone, focus on your interior life, and trust that I am in control... also for the sake of those more vulnerable than you.
One of my oldest, dearest BR brother-friends is getting ordained a priest tomorrow :)
11 years ago he wasn’t even baptized! He encountered Jesus for the first time in college at the place I work now.
Pray for Dc Albert! ♥️🔥✨
I never really understood the prodigal son story, esp. in ref to the older brother til I read
@BishopBarron
“The Priority or Christ”. Younger demands a gift, Older tries to earn a gift. One is a bully, the other is a kiss-up. Both manipulate to get what they want. Neither loves.
Please pray for the repose of the soul of an incredible mom who leaves 5 kiddos and a loving husband. She was my coworker’s dear friend. Long, hard battle with cancer. Pray for that fam. 💔
There was a moment in my life when I realized that every challenge in the Gospel was directed at me, not at “those people out there”.
I’m the Pharisee, I’m Pilate, I’m the rich young man, I’m Martha, I’m the apostle with a lack of faith (etc)
If I think it’s not me, I’m wrong.
so yeah if y’all wanna pray against some major lies I’m currently struggling real hard not to believe, that’d be cool.
ngl I feel like the last three months of my life have been one big long spiritual attack
One of my students made this in her art class last year and gave it to me. She was inspired by our study of the violent 20th century in my Church History class.
I thought it was so profound.
She said she made it in response to the cry, “Where was God?”
Young adult ministry fails bc there’s no such cohesive category as “young adult”.
There’s hs & college ministry (for a specific set of ppl doing the same thing), and then there’s adult faith formation (catechesis for all adults), and then there’s just friendship skills.
Y’all! Our 2 catechumens and 20 candidates become Catholic today! Please pray for them! They have weathered a pandemic, and now they *should* be received at 3pm CST, in the middle of a tropical storm 😅🎉🙌🏼
I have this one college kid in my RCIA class whose aesthetic is basically “gym bro”. Cute, backwards flat-brim baseball hat, gym shorts, tshirt, jacked, etc. He always shows up to class early and participates, and he’s extremely happy all the time; told me today he was
Would love some prayers of protection for my roommate. She is a doctor at one of our local hospitals and starts working nights in the COVID ICU starting on Holy Saturday.
Reading my students' honest answers to the "Big Questions" of life and realizing that we need to scrap the majority of catechesis we do in high school and teach straight up philosophy.
Me, washing my hands: I need a 20-second song to sing while I wash my hands.
Roommate: Wait... why do you need to sing the 22nd Psalm?
Me: (sings while washing) MY GOOOO-OD, MY GO-ODDDD... WHY HAVE YOU AH-BAN-DONED MEEEEEEEE??
Us: EVERYTHING IS AWFUL, THE BISHOPS ARE CORRUPT, ITS ALL SATAN’S FAULT, WE’RE ALL GONNA DIE, WAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!
God: ...but like, I’m bigger than that. Do you trust me to provide for you & the Church & the world... or not?
It is possible to love GKC (and even personally believe he’s a saint), and not agree with, admire, or defend everything he ever wrote, actually.
He was a journalist who wrote constantly. He had a lot of hot-takes, some of which were clever but wrong.
And that’s my hot-take.
Would appreciate prayers for me and for a sweet, intelligent, and faithful RCIA candidate who has a few big questions left to wrestle with before his reception into the Church whenever the quarantine is lifted. We are discussing them over the next few days.
God's timing, y'know?
He smiled really big and said he likes to remind his coworkers to “go skipping” sometimes: “I love to do that every so often. I mean it’s not like you can skip all around and stay mad.”
😂 who is this kid?
There’s this one guy at the student center where I work, and our entire relationship consists of me kicking him out of rooms.
Whatever room I’m supposed to have a class or a meeting in, he’s inevitably in there studying, and I have to kick him out.
It’s become so comical at…
Hey! Could y'all pray for my high school students-- particularly ones who are farthest from God, caught in sin, dabbling in dark things, etc.

@CatholicPraying
Today, I am returning to working on what I was really hired for: RCIA.
Even during the hurricane/aftermath, there have been people emailing me every other day about joining RCIA.
Pray for them and for me! I love this stuff but it’s overwhelming! I may have ~40 in class!
hey hey hey! Can y'all pray for my school? We've got some theology positions open for next year and not a lot of applicants. Also, if anyone wants to come on down to Louisiana...(!) lemme know
this point.
He sees me open the door and walk in and immediately throws his hands up in the air and yells in despair.
I’m like the grim reaper to his study flow 😂😂😂

happy it rained cuz he got to splash around in all the puddles on campus. I told him I liked his attitude and that Jesus said, “unless we turn and become like children, we can’t enter the kingdom of heaven.”
Just wanted to say that

is lovely and delightful, and I wasn’t going to even read the Silmarillion until her podcast popped up and said “surprise, I’m just going to read it to you and explain it along the way” and I am here for it! In my car! On my commute!
On this bus with my Protestant co-worker who is an incredible person. He just toughed out our VERY CATHOLIC week-long March/pilgrimage to DC. We discussed some theological differences (of which he is very convicted). Yet he was never disrespectful or checked out during ANY of our

Not a selfie, but this is Sam! Pray for Sam! He and I have been doing RCIA over FaceTime all summer, and he just got baptized & confirmed & received first Eucharist today!!! Ws!!! 🙌🏼🎉
Hey! Can y’all pray for everyone traveling to DC this week??
Leaving 6am Monday with 9 buses of 450 people for our annual pilgrimage. It’s an incredibly beautiful week for our students. Many experience conversion.

Hey y’all thank you for your prayers! God did a thing, and I’m really excited about it.
Not gonna be teaching HS anymore starting this summer 🙃
Still gonna be doing faith formation full time, tho: RCIA, Bible classes, Confirmation classes, etc. etc. etc... for college students!
all 6’6” of him is uncomfortably trying to sleep on these bus seats and is waking up at every stop in the night to check if I need anything.
I just wanted to shout him out and ask you to shower him with your prayers of blessing cuz he deserves them. 👍🏼
My Church History students have reached quarantine level: copy-and-paste-essay-from-sede-website-without-realizing-it
I don't want to be a teacher anymore.

So today I:
1. was blocked by a stopped train otw to work
2. spilled coffee all over my desk
3. was mid-lecture when a bug literally flew directly down my throat and sent me into a coughing fit for 5 minutes in front of my stunned class.
So how was your day?
Please pray for La.
Y’all this heat is NO JOKE.
There is nowhere for many people to go, especially the elderly and most fragile/vulnerable.
Keep in mind: 106 degrees + 90% humidity. That’s extremely dangerous.
At home sick today (not covid), missing the last day of leadership retreat. Pastor called me while standing in front of the student leadership team present (60+) and had them all pray for me over the phone.
Not used to this kind of love haha
@FrMatthewLC
Many, but:
Was struggling w some dark depression (not clinical; situational), had the flashing inspiration to go confess all the lies I’ve ever believed about God: “I’ve believed the lie that God has abandoned me.” etc
It broke an intense cycle. Haven’t been the same since.

of the Terrorist Attacks on 9/11, 2001:
Fr. Mychal Judge, a Roman Catholic priest & NYFD Chaplain who ran into the WTC to pray with & minister to the wounded.
He was struck by a piece of the building & died.
They laid his body on the altar of a nearby Church
In my diocese, this actually isn’t the case. It’s the reverently celebrated Novus Ordo Masses that have a TON, and the TLM has some too, but it’s certainly not where *all* the young families are.
I don't attend the Latin Mass. But in my diocese, if you want to see churches packed with young people and their families, that's where to go.
Now the obvious sociological question is, "Why are those places full? What are the young people seeking -- and finding?"
My roommate's fiance is in the next room singing her a song (he is tone deaf) and she is giggling uncontrollably (she just worked a 12+ hr day in the COVID ICU).
So wholesome. 😊
@FrGoyo
I walked around my neighborhood yesterday praying the rosary, and an elderly gent yelled at me from across the street: MA'AM!?
Me: Me?
Him: Yes! Would you like a four-leaf clover?
Me: Sure!?
Him: I won't hand it to you, but look! *points to ground*
😂 The simple things.
Reject the lies that the enemy whispers about you and about God and about others. He’s a liar, a divider, and a sore loser.
You don’t have to be shuffled and forced along in the army & mindset of this world. You can reject the lies. You can defect.
This is a dude-in-black appreciate post. My friends who have said yes to the priesthood… y’all been sustaining me with prayers and support and sacramental grace and witness of life this past year and a half, and I thank you.
Y’all please pray for a friend and a great man who is struggling with mystery issues that are causing completely debilitating headaches out of nowhere. He is unable to interact with his family much and is confined to bed most times. He’s feeling a bit defeated. Please pray 🙏🏼❤️
A few PSAs:
1. Life-changing interventions of God’s grace are real.
2. Giving up alcohol for any length of time is totally worth it.
3. Social media sucks; life is better without it.
4. Bluey is better than any TV show that’s aired in like the last 20 years.
@jdflynn
As a HS theology teacher, this crushes me, precisely because I KNOW.
Even when I try my best, the usccb curriculum, parent/student/admin expectations, and lack of any phil. training for students leading up to HS is against me.
Catholic Charities of Acadiana is heading up Hurricane Ida relief efforts across Louisiana. Please consider donating so they can buy the supplies they need directly and locally.

Had a typical “about to start school” dream about teaching last night. Woke up, saw light outside, and freaked out thinking I was late to work.
Then I realized I’m not a teacher anymore.
So much relief.
Can’t even explain.
Y'ALL.
I just got off the phone with my loan rep and I will be finished paying off my first student loan in S E P T E M B E R. I had no idea I was that close.
Walked around my neighborhood & just looked at trees & clouds & flowers & stuff. And there were a lot of people out on their porches & walking around with dogs & kids in wagons. The sun was shining, & it was warm, & there was a slight breeze.
It’s clear God is teaching us.
Rest In Peace, my strong, talented, loving, prank-playing, world-traveling Grandaddy ❤️✨ 90 years; larger than life! There’s a whole new world now for you to explore!

One is praying the breviary, one is reading, and one is cross-stitching. And here I am, a doofus, on my phone.
