The Labour administration in West Dunbartonshire Council tonight undertook a raft of cuts to public services including school learning assistants, community facilities and cuts to valued community groups without undertaking any consultation with residents or the groups involved.
Delighted to announce I’m standing in the upcoming local government elections in the area I’ve lived and grown up in.
Can’t wait to get out on the campaign trail and stand up for our local community.
📣 Delighted to announce the Clydebank SNP candidates for the upcoming election on May 5th
🏘 We are putting forward candidates who are committed to working with the communities they represent
💛 The SNP have been doing a great job running WDC but there is still much to do
Delighted to have achieved my UEFA B License through the Scottish FA, thanks to
@ritchiewils
@DougieAnderso12
Chipper, Jim McIntyre, everyone else who contributed to the course and all of my peers on the course for an excellent experience.
Absolutely delighted for the branch that our motion passed overwhelmingly at

conference 🐝
Eric worked tirelessly over so many years on this and it’s a fitting tribute to his legacy.
@GrahamSpiers
For the public though Graham not for footballers.
I hope Aberdeen don’t try to make this embarrassing deflection argument that you’ve just done.
Players of all clubs should be very clear or the game will face the consequences.
@odneJ
Think my favourite cliche that I’m seeing is that he’s “not physical enough for the Premier League” when Rice, Phillips and Mount couldn’t get near him at Wembley.
Probably sums up why players like Rice and Phillips make it to the England team and they don’t have a Gilmour.
@Ben_Wills14
Watch this and tell me again you think that Andy Robertson is entitled.
He’s worked his whole life for everything he’s ever gotten and even at the top he’s got an outstanding social conscience.
Labour council leader in West Dunbartonshire trusts the Tory government to fund local services.
Apparently the change Labour are offering is less autonomy for the people of Scotland and to trust the decisions made by the Tories at Westminster.
EXC: A second Labour council leader has written to Michael Gove urging him to fund local authorities directly, rather than via the Scottish Government.
Martin Rooney of West Dunbartonshire made the move after the SG warned UK funding is tied to a council tax freeze.
@darrellcurrietv
Its amazing to think that certain ex pro’s still can’t grasp that balance and core strength are the keys to competing physically in football and not size.
Along with his outstanding technical ability and pace, Forrest is virtually never pushed off the ball, even by bigger players
Delighted to attend the Flourishing Faifley summer fayre today alongside
@MarieAMcNair
and
@MartinJDocherty
.
What a fantastic community run event and great to see a brilliant turnout 👏
Thank you to all of the activists who have led a very positive and strong campaign in Faifley, Duntocher and Hardgate over the election period.
Make sure to vote SNP 1&2 tomorrow at the ballot box to elect strong voices to stand up for our local community.
Delighted to chair the first ever virtual meeting of
@clydebank_snp
and to be re-elected as Convenor during our AGM.
Great to see so many of the members engaging with technology to take part.
It is the right of the people of Scotland to oppose independence if they wish.
However, it is not within the right of anyone to deny the people of Scotland democracy.
Our opportunity for transformational change could not be more timely.
Really patronising comments from Patrice Evra about Eni Aluko on the ITV coverage, she’s an international footballer with over 100 caps, she shouldn’t be congratulated for being able to talk about football for 30 seconds.
@RachylBond
@Marshall5Sharon
That’s a blatant mistruth, the NHS in Scotland is outperforming the rest of the Uk. The Scottish government has mitigated Conservative cuts to our health service and protecting it from Tory privatisation.
Delighted to see my council motion pass unanimously on Wednesday to encourage schools to sign up to the
@SkcinCharity
Sunsafe campaign to educate youngsters about the danger of exposure to UV light and the importance of wearing sunscreen ☀️
Opposing independence for Scotland is a perfectly legitimate view for those in our nation to hold or debate.
But what is the legitimacy of and who could possibly defend that the future of our nation should be in the hands of UK Government ministers and not the Scottish people?
@Marshall5Sharon
Don’t be put off by the anti-SNP brigade tweeting you, Nicola does care, she’s so genuine which is rare in politics and you’d be welcomed in Scotland 🏴
Provost McAllister had every opportunity to apologise or reconsider this at the meeting itself.
His decision not to allow a councillor with dyslexia a reasonable adjustment by allowing a recess to read the papers is a shameful reflection on the provost’s character.
WEST Dunbartonshire’s Provost Douglas McAllister has apologised following claims he set a “dangerous precedence” at the council’s budget-setting meeting. 👇 Full story
Delighted to get such a positive response during our leaflet run in Duntocher today.

Delighted to attend the cross country event today.
Was a pleasure to see all of the staff and volunteers again.
Impossible to overestimate the hard work that goes into an event such as this from the staff and volunteers and the immense benefit to all of the children involved.
@UEFACalculator
I think the old system with 2 automatic and 2 qualifiers for the top 3/4 nations was fine between 2006-09.
Uefa went too far by giving them 4 automatic spots.

Was pleased for my strong opposition to the battery storage proposal on Cochno Road to be expressed on STV news yesterday evening.
I will continue to oppose this proposal on behalf of residents of Faifley, Duntocher and Hardgate at every opportunity.

Scotland is best governed by itself and not by a dysfunctional government in Westminister, because the SNP will always look to create a more socially just and equal society and because the SNP will always stand up for Scotland.
So many positive responses across the polling stations today.
Remember there’s still time to vote if you haven’t already, polls close at 10 PM

This company raised its fares citing fuel rises and failed to bring fares down as fuel prices decreased.
They announce record profits and yet continue to raise fares and reduce services.
@btsportfootball
The GK held onto the ball for more than 6 seconds and the referee (clearly frustrated by his earlier time wasting) gave the indirect free kick.
Can’t believe the commentator doesn’t understand the rules.
Even if it is one that isn’t often used.
1/2 I attended the consultation for the proposed new battery storage facility on cochno road.
It’s unacceptable that only a handful of our residents in Faifley were contacted about the plans and I’ve received numerous concerns and complaints regarding the proposed facility.
Whatever your views on the topic at hand are, it’s un-democratic and an outright disgrace for the UK government to block legislation passed cross-party in a democratic Scottish Parliament.
The UK government clearly doesn’t take Scottish devolution or democracy seriously.
There’s a distinct difference between a ceasefire and a series of humanitarian pauses.
Jackie Baillie can’t even be coherent within a few short sentences never mind create a well thought out position within her party on the horrors unfolding.
Baillie: "We want to see a ceasefire, we want to see humanitarian pauses. You cannot watch premature babies dying in hospitals because there's no electricity to power incubators and then start the kind of game playing the SNP are engaged in. This is far too serious."
Was delighted to pop along to the

open day and have interesting discussions with so many important community partners all brought together under one roof 🤝
Whilst I’m pleased the centre will not close, it’s worth pointing out the Glenhead community centre was only facing closure as a result of budget decisions taken by the Labour administration in March.
Many other centres within our local authority will not be so lucky.
A MUCH-LOVED Clydebank community centre and library is set to be saved from closure after a well-known local group stepped in to take over the lease. 👇 Full story
Difficult to fathom how we lost that game.
Higher expected goals and controlled the majority of the game.
Allowed Czechs to build phases between 35-45 mins which cost us.
Then lost a freak second goal after poor decision making from Hendry.
Need to execute and finish better.
😭😭😭
Tell you what, love the character in that Scotland team taking the hit of the 90th minute equaliser and still going on and doing it.
It might take 6 months to sink in tbh 😭😭😭
Absolutely furious, we all followed the rules to save lives last Christmas, making sacrifices and giving away time with loved ones we’ll never get back.
And yet the Prime Minister and his friends were having a party, laughing at and mocking every one us.
The PM must resign.
You know that Downing Street Xmas party that the government party denies ever happened, well
@itvnews
has exclusive footage of a mock Downing St press conference four days after in which head of broadcast Ed Oldfield and

Scotland’s independence movement is about internationalism and solidarity.
It’s about breaking free of an inward looking, isolationist UK and opening doors to the world which the UK is trying to close.
This is what your party can’t grasp.
It was great to visit Cloud 9 dance today.
Erin has done a magnificent job creating this local group in Faifley. The benefits of physical activity to the children involved cannot be overstated.
I’m excited to see what the future holds for this group.

15th is a landmark position that would currently mean a second champions league place.
But the access list will be completely changing with the new UEFA cycle for the season in effect so we’ll need to wait and see.
It’s very positive regardless.
Thinking of all of the lives tragically lost in the Ibrox disaster 50 years ago today, especially the 3 men from our local community.
No one should ever go to the football and not come home.
Thinking of the lives lost and all of those affected by the Ibrox disaster 52 years ago today, including the 3 lives lost from our community in Faifley.
nobody should ever go to the football and not come home.
Marie has dedicated the last 17 years to serving the people of Clydebank as a local councillor and she would make an exceptional MSP for Clydebank and Milngavie.
After careful consideration and discussion with many of my fellow local party members, I have decided to seek nomination for selection as the SNP candidate for the Clydebank and Milngavie constituency.
I thought this was fantastic and a really heartwarming human gesture after a week where it’s been easy to feel down seeing so many smoke screens and deflections put up.

If money is an issue why did the SPFL pay for an investigation by which was so narrow that it was never going to satisfy any party?
Regardless of what the truth actually is here the SPFL are certainly making a great fist of acting like a guilty organisation with things to hide.
@SwansOfficial
Actually Carlos statistically you’ve eaten 100% of the chicken and your pal ate nothing. 😂😂
If you don’t like stats it’s because you’re not using or interpreting them the right way.

Every single season Celtic lose European home matches by losing poor counter-attacking goals at home.
Probably every single season for the last 6 years and they still haven’t fixed it. Bizarre.

Scotland are 19th this season and currently headed to be 15th for next season after all the results from this round.
The results from next round will obviously change the picture again.
@BBCSportsound
We need to look outside the box and forget the Berti Vogts debacle happened and assess the international scene for a manager with experience of taking a team to a major tournament.
Shouldn’t be overlooked how big an achievement finishing 2nd in a World Cup qualifying group is for Scotland.
Scotland have a structure and style to build on now and excited to see what the future holds.
Crucial we try to get something from Monday though to secure seeding.
Really strong victory for Scotland last night, Albania did what we dream of and qualified for the last European Championships. High-tempo, positive, technically proficient performance with a solid backbone.
No ones getting carried away but good start and something to build on.
@henrywinter
Difficult to fathom why Billy Gilmour can’t get an appearance ahead of Kenny McLean who is nowhere near competing with Billy for a place in the national team.
Bizarre.
It’s a horrible time but there’s hope on the horizon, both political and scientific.
Democracies aren’t static, they are constantly evolving and need to be cared for and replenished.
We all need to play our own part in creating a world based on reason, democracy and kindness.

What a great man.
Always showed up enthusiastically for campaigning come rain or shine.
And always refused to let anyone give him low lying doors for leafleting to make sure he got the stairs.
Will be sadly missed.

This type of horrible rhetoric shows that the Labour Party simply wish to continue the cruel policies of the Tory Government under a different name.
Migration is vital to the future of our nation by every possible measurement and Labour want to close up the drawbridge.
Funny how as soon as Ian Blackford was called to give the SNP response the BBC decided to go back to the studio.
Surely the people of Scotland deserved to hear the response of our representatives?
Please be advised that Scottish Water require to carry out emergency works on a collapsed manhole on the A810 Glasgow Road route today, the diversion will take drivers from Faifley Road to Glasgow Road and vice versa.
I have been assured that these works will be completed today.
Not particularly interested in who it was that said it, but it’s quite frankly disgraceful for any public figure to claim that public health officials are politically motivated when advising close contacts to self isolate after positive covid tests.
Neil Lennon says he’s “not convinced it’s a public health issue” and it “seems political” that 16 were asked to isolate after close contact with a confirmed positive COVID case in his squad after the Dubai trip.
“Nobody’s got COVID,” says the Celtic manager.
Really sad to hear this.
A man of incredible substance and aura on and off the pitch.
He had such a powerful presence about him, whenever he walked into a room the hairs on the back of your neck stood up.
Translation:
“We hoped the Scots would never realise they are clever enough, big enough, rich enough and strong enough to govern themselves like all the other nations”.
No 10 source on PM’s devolution comments:
“The PM has always supported devolution but Tony Blair failed to foresee the rise of separatists in Scotland.... Devolution is great - but not when it’s used by separatists and nationalists to break up the UK.”
Reminder: my surgery takes place at a new venue this evening of St Joseph’s Primary from 5-6 PM.
Please feel free to come along and discuss any local issues you would like assistance with.
Whilst I am open minded about solutions to our energy challenges it’s disheartening that none of these concerns including environmental concerns can currently be addressed
Residents can attend Skypoint before 7PM tonight or contact the developers directly to air your views
Important for Scotland to take positives and gain much needed experience from this tournament, both Croatia and the Czechs are tournament veterans and that played a huge part when it mattered.
Young squad with lots of talent + need to back it up with more qualifications now.
6 years ago the most inspiring day in the modern democratic history of our nation ended with what felt like the end of a revolution.
But the revolution was only beginning.
It goes on every day and Scotland is more ready than ever to regain its place as an independent nation.
Shocked and appalled that the users of Skypoint community facility have been contacted to tell them the facility will be closing despite repeated personal promises from Labour’s Councillor Lawrence O’Neill promising it would not close down until the new school facility opens 1/2
