The best advice you can give to a new player is that you can get really fucking solid doing the absolute most basic shit. That starter combo you learned in 20 minutes on your 3rd day with the game? Not a bad option to make the backbone of your entire gameplan for 8 months.

The state of 3D Fighting Games is... not good. Tekken's the only major game in town, VF5US had to be begged and pleaded into production and wasn't even given a PC release, DOA and Soul Calibur's futures are so up-in-the-air they might as well be satellites, and that's about it.
