Perspective: Koreans take TOEIC to test for English proficiency to get into universities (& some jobs). Average score is 670 out of 990. RM took the test for grins & scored 915. He reads *literature* in English. His linguistic skills should not be written off or downgraded.

At my son's school, no less than 7 parents--none of them Asian--asked if I saw BTS speak at the UN & said they had recorded BTS' media appearances to watch with their kids. I couldn't have dreamed of this kind of recognition when I was a child. For my son, this is his normal.💜

😭We've got a while to go. Regardless of the outcome, I'm proud. I'm not superstitious, so I'll say it now: I think BTS is going to win. No matter how good the other songs are (& they are good), Dynamite's the song to beat. It had a healing effect during a *very* difficult year.

A group of girls told my son he looked like Suga. He was embarrassed & told me later he thinks he looks like RM. (He doesn't.🤣) A friend's son wants to BE G-Dragon. When I was their age, there were no Asian role models in the U.S. What an exciting time it is now for young folks.

Am I surprised @20toOne used BTS as its punchline? No. But to see white entertainers have a go at a popular minority group for having only 1 English speaker was at best ugly. Equating their UN speech to a hair product is pathetic. Show could've gotten digs in w/o being idiotic.
