CAT'S OUTTA THE BAG
Can't keep it under my hat any longer--the business of getting all 5 seasons of "Moonlighting" starring Bruce Willis and Cybill Shepherd ready for streaming has begun!
The great director, Robert Butler has passed away. Bob directed the pilot for "Moonlighting", but in many ways that was the least of his accomplishments. Go search his credits. He is the history of twentieth century dramatic television and the person from whom I learned the most…
Bruce Willis and I were both babes in the woods when we first got together and made “Moonlighting”. People forget, but “Moonlighting” was very much about language---and nobody took greater delight in all that language than Bruce.
Just received word that Peter Werner died today. A terrific director who did many of the most highly regarded episodes of "Moonlighting". We later worked together on "Medium" and also "Bull". A truly terrific person. He will be very missed. My sympathy to his family, who I know…

First of all, I’m a big fan. Second of all, we’re just gearing up and I don’t want to give you the wrong answer (but if I were a betting man, I’d bet on “yes”.
Even when he can’t put the thought into words you can see it in his eyes that he is a man who thoroughly loves life. That he is surrounded by an amazing family and loving friends. Forgive my cock-eyed optimism, but I prefer to think we haven’t seen the last of him.
Watching this horrible disease rob him of his ability to turn thoughts into words, or to focus on a book has been heartbreaking. But the good news is, he is still Bruce.
Ron Schwary, an extraordinary producer (Tootsie, Soldier's Story, Let's Spend the Night Together, Absence of Malice, Random Hearts, Sabrina, Scent of A Woman), who won the Oscar for the first movie he ever produced, "Ordinary People", died last night at 76.
Come September,
We’ll be back again,
Only Season 3,
Will be Monday’s at 10.
So set your DVR,
And please tell your friends,
BULL’s coming to Mondays,
Have a great summer ‘til then.
He could somersault through a four-page monologue with only twenty minutes of prep. He was, in many ways, the Gene Kelly of words. He understood that the words were actually music---and no one heard the music more clearly than Bruce.
OMG! Went to get a cup of coffee and one of my heroes was in the parking lot. JONI MITCHELL. She was surrounded by admirers. I just stood to the side and watched. One of the great musical poets. Made my day.
Peter Bogdanovich, who I got to know through Cybill Shepherd, passed away today. A good man and a great filmmaker. Watch his films, read his books or listen to the podcast about his life on "The Plot Thickens"...all will be time well spent.

I used to kid him about being “a closet intellectual” ---terrified that his fans would find out that he was actually a voracious reader and a genuinely thoughtful man.
Had a fantastic time with Michael Weatherly and Bruce Fretts and several hundred actors last night at the Robin Williams Center in NYC. Thanks SAG-AFTRA!
Not sure who the guy on the left is...but the guy on the right is part of our amazing cast. Brand new episode of BULL next Monday! And seriously, how cool is it that L-MM bought the Drama Book Shop, which is like a temple for people aspiring to act, write, direct, design, dream.

Oh my...my dear friend and some I admired more than words can say, Stanley Donen passed away today. For those of you unfamiliar with Stanley's work, he directed "Singing In the Rain" with Gene Kelly when he was 26. I had the thrill of working with him on a special sequence of
If you're looking for some content to dig into, check out "Normal People" on Hulu. Fantastic everything. Acting. Writing. Directing (the director of the film "Room"). Filled with the ache of young romance.

Wow. What a lovely article. Thanks for all the kind words. Not sure how this got by me when it was first published, but thanks for posting it today.
Ennio Morricone, one of cinema's greatest composers died today at 91. We worked together in 1997 on "Love Affair". We met only briefly when he came to America to see the film before beginning work on the score. That brief encounter remains a cherished memory.
..."Moonlighting". He directed sequence built around a song Billy Joel wrote for the show called "Big Man on Mulberry Street" and it was one of the great creative moments of my life. He was a dear friend, who encouraged me often; and though I have not seen him in a long time

My goodness, what an amazing and inspirational performance on the Kennedy Center Honors!!! So proud of you. And so humbled by your talent.
I just became a charter subscriber to the new Criterion Channel, launching spring 2019! . If you love and care about film, you should give this a look!
@FreddyRdriguez
I can only tell you that wasn't the intention. The intention was to make sure that among our gallery of characters we had the opportunity to talk about faith and its role in the life of a successful and intelligent person.

I just saw "Living". A pretty close to perfect little movie that speaks in a very quiet voice about the business of being human. Great performances, beautiful cinematography, a near perfect script and impeccable direction. 2 hours well spent.

So Excited to be able to share! It’s an incredibly important story and to be in such Tremendous company is a real Blessing!!! Thanks
@ava
for bringing me along on this journey!!!
When he decided to make the transition to television, he and I worked together on "Now and Again" "Fling" and "Medium". Frequent collaborator with Sidney Pollack and Barbra Streisand, he was mentored by no less than John Wayne, played an ape in the original Planet of the Apes
The absence of MOONLIGHTING, at a time when we could be watching the hell out of every episode, is a crime worthy of the Blue Moon Detective Agency. Thanks to
@decider
for letting me speak on it.
