18 vehicle burglaries have been reported so far today. There were also two vehicles stolen early this morning. All of the vehicles were unlocked and the two stolen vehicles had the keys inside. Please lock up and remove the keys to avoid becoming a victim.

On March 31st, Ofc. Kevin Riggle was awarded the Illinois Medal of Honor for his heroism in rescuing a drowning woman in 2017. He was presented with this award during the Law Enforcement Medal of Honor Ceremony held in Springfield, IL. Congratulations Ofc. Riggle!

The Glen Ellyn Police responded to Glenbard West High School for the report of an active threat. School staff placed students on a brief lockdown as a precaution. Officers quickly determined there was no threat. The school has been reopened. This incident is under investigation.
Officer Ron Pocuis officially retired today after 48 (yes, 48!!!) years of service at the Glen Ellyn Police Department. He served 32 years as an officer and a sergeant followed by 16 years as a community service officer. Enjoy your retirement!

There is a water main break on Spring between Rt. 53 and May. The roadway is closed. There is currently no access to the parking lot of the Spring Ave. Recreation Center and the dog park. Please avoid this stretch of roadway. Kayaking is prohibited.

Congratulations to Ofc. Wollenberg, Ofc. Murray and Ofc. Tabor on receiving a GEPD lifesaving award. They responded to a medical emergency and administered CPR and shock using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). These lifesaving efforts were key in the patient's survival!
