8 yrs ago I discovered synthetic biology and immediately knew my life as an architect would never be the same again—obsession w/ creating self-constructing architectures by design culminated in my PhD work #anthrobots advised by visionary @drmichaellevin

Just started on my winter break read—“The Shape of Life” by Rudolf Raff, a gift from my advisor @drmichaellevin for my PhD defense on Anthrobots last month😊🧬 The more we understand how biological architectures develop in nature, the better we’ll get at creating them by design✌️

Got to describe Anthrobots in Turkish! My mom said she finally understood what I’ve been up to all these years after having watched it in the news in Turkey 😂 …🤔

Tıpta çığır açması beklenen keşif... İnsan hücrelerinden küçük canlı robotlar geliştirildi. "Biyorobotlar" nasıl iyileştirecek? İlaca gerek kalmayacak mı? Bilim İnsanı @GizemGumuskaya geliştirilen "Biyo-Robot" keşfini #HT360 'ta @MeltemAcet 'e anlattı.

Had a great chat with @TOEwithCurt , @drmichaellevin , and Angela Tung discussing Anthrobots, embryos, the morphogenetic code, and nature as a design medium 🧬🧬

@artlsktv @TOEwithCurt @drmichaellevin Great question! The new approach to synthetic morphogenesis we’ve demonstrated with the Anthrobots (that rely on harnessing anatomical plasticity) is precisely aimed at speeding up the process of generating radical new morphologies, among other things.

@artlsktv @TOEwithCurt @drmichaellevin (Harnessing anatomical plasticity is an alternative and complementary approach to the genetic circuit based method you’re talking about)
