5. Organize your junk drawer

court today on a theft charge. During a break in court, she goes to local store and steals. She flees – back to her court date where she is taken into custody on the new theft. En route to jail now.
Yesterday, someone broke into a car and stole a young girl's backpack which contained her Valentine's Day cards and gifts. A few of our officers pooled together and bought her a new backpack, candy and gifts. Officer Daniel delivered them to her at school today.

This evening at 6 pm, you may hear a lot of sirens from the area of St. Anthony Hospital. Please don’t be alarmed. First responders from several law enforcement and fire department agencies will be paying tribute to the fine medical workers at the hospital.
@CHIFranciscan
Our most urgent positive thoughts are with the two Pierce County Deputies who were injured today. This evening and tomorrow, you may see police cars from Gig Harbor & Lakewood covering calls on the Peninsulas while the Sheriff's Department shifts personnel around.
WANTED: Roman Kanonik Kayla Kupczak. "The amount of crime that they’ve committed is very significant and there’s a lot of jurisdictions out looking for them,” said
@GigHarborPolice
Chief Kelly Busey.

Not only was the City of
#GigHarbor
named as the BEST CITY IN THE SOUTH SOUND, but our own Officer Eddy Dominguez was named BEST POLICE OFFICER IN THE SOUTH SOUND!
We knew it all along, but now it is official.
Way to go, Officer Dominguez!
Thank you to the citizen who left this nice card on one of our patrol cars. This kind of gesture means more than you know. We respect and appreciate the support from our community.

Officers Dennis and Dominguez displaying the Lifesaving Awards presented to them at tonight’s city council meeting for their efforts in saving a subject attempting to jump from The Narrows Bridge on March 24th.
We are proud to bestow the department Lifesaving Award to Officer Daniel and Sgt Martineau for their actions in saving a suicidal subject from the Narrows Bridge in June at tonight’s city council meeting.
Let's start the mantra early this week:
I will NOT leave my dog in the car.
I will NOT leave my dog in the car.
I will NOT leave my dog in the car.

Our officers will be carrying the Torch for

through downtown

starting at 3:30 p.m. today. Give them a shout as they raise money and awareness for a great cause.
UPDATE REGARDING THIS MORNING'S PURSUIT
The Pierce County Sheriff's Department advises that the second subject who had been detained earlier is in fact the second person involved in the pursuit this morning. Both have been booked into jail. There are no outstanding suspects.
Recent law changes that prohibit the use of reasonable force to detain someone fleeing from a suspected crime, the softening of our drug and pursuit laws, and criminals who are set free due to COVID-related booking restrictions at the jail all play a part in this surge in crime.
Due to the heavy rains forecast for this weekend, please adopt the following mantra:
I WILL slow down and I WILL increase my following distance while driving.
By the Numbers:
0⃣ Number of people fined or arrested for being outside in
#GigHarbor
.
0⃣ Number of people we intend to fine or arrest for being outside.
💯 Percent of people we would like to encourage to stay healthy by staying home.
💯 Percent we care about our community.

KARMA
On 5/16/21, this subject stole a large amount of cologne from a Gig Harbor store. He has several large tattoos, including a giant neck tattoo that likely reads “Karma.”
Let's make his tattoo become reality. If you know him, please contact Det Federici at (253) 853-2421.
It is with incredible sadness that inform you that our deputy has passed away from his injuries. We are with his family now, and we ask that you please keep his family, friends, and our department in your thoughts and prayers.
If you are missing a couple of Peacocks, it appears as though they are trying to get their nails done at a business near Albertsons. You are welcome to retrieve them at your earliest opportunity.
With assistance from
@PierceSheriff
, our detectives have this subject in custody. We believe that he is responsible for as many as four armed robberies in
#GigHarbor
, Pierce County, and Tacoma.
Amidst the challenges of current times, it is nice to receive a note like this from one of the citizens we serve. The men and women of our department are committed to providing uninterrupted public safety and service.
If someone contacts you via phone or internet and asks/demands that you purchase gift cards and then reveal the numbers to you, it is a scam 💯 percent of the time. Don’t fall for it!

Pt Fosdick blocked at 45th Street (near library/Multicare) by semi truck and trailer. Please choose an alternate route. We will let you know when the road is open again. Also, choose better locations to turn around your semi and trailer.
We received this nice note from one of our citizens. Our officers truly appreciate the support of our community. It's nice to be able to pay that support back.
So... at what point to we want to sit down and have the talk...about Tuesday's snow storm? Seattle could get a dollop of snow Monday (1-3") then... another widespread event is looming Tuesday -- on par with current storm. :O
We send our kindest and most caring thoughts to our brothers and sisters at the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department. Our hearts are with the family of the deputy involved. ❤️
@PierceSheriff
We offer a huge THANK YOU to our partners at Chapel Hill Presbyterian Church for generously allowing us use of their parking lot and grounds to conduct the mass vaccination events in

. We truly couldn't do it without you.

BEWARE: We had a citizen scammed by a caller pretending to be a GHPD Officer. The phone number was “spoofed,” indicating it was us calling. Suspect demanded victim purchase gift cards and provide number over phone for payment of fines. Police will never call and demand money.
