New in development: basic optional non-destructive cropping by cropping the canvas rather than the layer. Save as XCF, reopen whenever you like, use 'Image > Fit Canvas to Layers', re-crop again. Patch by @qualtrop . To be available in GIMP 2.10.20 in a few months hopefully

The attacker(s) seem to be actively monitoring reactions and changed the former approach - linking to a file on dropbox - with a less suspicious approach by now. The GIMP team does not make use of ads on Google or elsewhere.

@doctorow We had the same issue happening for our website for months. Repeatedly reported to Google by multiple people.😓 Of course, for Free Software, they don't charge, but replaced the installers with malware while Google charges its ads fee.

A few months ago, we warned that malevolent people were buying Google ads leading people to fake #GIMP websites to trick them into downloading malware. Apparently this is still continuing to this day (as were reported to us).

New in dev version: Ell recently improved painting performance, so GIMP now paints almost twice as fast as version 2.8 on his computer. The change will be available in version 2.10.12 soon

All my life I've seen pro painters talk about "values" by desaturating in Photoshop, and turns out it's one of the most widespread mistake: this is the wrong way to assume values, as the maths are wrong, and let me show you why:

Also new in development: the slider widget was revamped: 1) uses a lot less space, 2) numeric input now accessible via right-click, 3) middle-drag for fine changes (might have to be reviewed for tablets' users). All contributed by Ell as well. To be available in version 2.10.16.
