I’ve never seen a broadcast like this for an NCAA game. What would they have done if WVU won? No sideline reports about WVU, no human interest stories or anecdotes about WVU, seemingly no background knowledge of WVU players. I get it’s the top scorer at home, but that was bad.
Passed out some WVU sports photos to an elementary school class today. One kid is jumping up and down yelling, “David Sills! I got David Sills!” He holds up the photo. It’s Jevon Carter.
Close enough.
The day before game day has a feeling in Morgantown. Businesses and hotels are preparing for increased customers, vendor tents start setting up near the stadium, traffic patterns adjust for tens of thousands of fans to arrive. There’s an air to it. WVU Football is back.
I wanted to save any comments about the Neal Brown hire until after his introductory press conference at WVU, but I probably learned more about him in this clip saying goodbye to Troy. The Mountaineers are getting a good one.
An emotional

addressed Trojan Nation at halftime of today's men's basketball game ...
"From my family and I, I thank you, thank you so much, God bless and Go Troy."

My wife, a 1st grade teacher, spent her weekend creating & recording online lessons for her students. It’s after 7 pm, and she’s on a video chat, checking in on her students one by one, as she has all day. She, and other teachers, have always amazed me, maybe never more than now.
These kids could have thrown in the towel a few weeks ago and we would have understood. Instead, they fought. They bonded. They learned. They grew. They had fun. We did, too. What once looked bleak now looks bright.

Good thing WVU didn’t lead at halftime or win the game, so the sideline reporter never had to interview or even mention the lower seed the entire night.
Imagine using 80% of your time calling a college basketball game to complain about a job you used to have and name drop the popular people who text you.
Same seat. Same shirt. Same snack. Whatever you were doing the past two days, you’re doing the same tonight at 6. Unless you did entirely different things the past two nights, in which case you’d better have a completely new plan this evening. Do your part.

I didn’t know that college baseball wasn’t all Hawley Field and empty seats until WVU joined the Big 12. When that happened, I didn’t understand how they’d ever compete. Or how Mazey would sustain surprising early success. Or how they’d fill a new ballpark. And now here we are.
This is awesome. Jevon Carter warmed up for tonight’s Grizzlies game with special shoes to commemorate

and then gave them to a young fan in the arena wearing a WVU hoodie.
If you asked someone to tell you exactly what the Mountaineer should be, they would describe Trevor Kiess. We can all be proud to have had him represent our state and our University as well as anyone ever has.
The last time
@WVUBaseball
played for a Big 12 title, they flew home only to learn they’d be staying home. This time, they should be staying home again, but three other teams will join them in Morgantown. Unreal. What a job Randy Mazey has done with this program.
It’s not every day you get to hang out with a future Hall of Fame coach, but that’s exactly what our students just got to do at the Mountainlair! 🤩
Let's give
@CoachHuggs
and
@WVUhoops
the nation's best home court advantage tonight!
Jevon Carter appears to be going on the wall of “Mountaineer Immortals.” He’ll be just the ninth person to receive such an honor from

.
Workman, Hundley, West, Thorn, Williams, Robinson, Butler, Jones, and now Carter.
This guy has been a real asset to the WVU football team and to the University community as a whole. I’m glad he chose to spend these years in Morgantown and that he will forever be a Mountaineer. Always a pleasure.
William Crest Jr. has been the epitome of a team player over his last five seasons with the Mountaineers. After joining the Mountaineers as a quarterback, he has spent the last two seasons as a wide receiver. Will has already graduated with his bachelor’s degree. Thank you Will!
What a season for WVU football. And my goodness is it sweet to see this fanbase at its best, packing a bowl game and belting out Country Roads on the national stage. Let’s keep this going. It’s more fun this way.
One game at a time, of course, but a note:
With a trip to the Final Four, Jevon Carter would tie Da’Sean Butler for the most wins in

program history. An appearance or a win in the title game would make Carter the winningest Mountaineer ever.
I cannot tell you how much I appreciate all of these people for getting on board with this idea and sending me their videos. Mountaineers really are the best.
The first class to play 4 years of Press Virginia. Jevon Carter and Daxter Miles have been a pleasure to watch grow on and off the court since a Sweet Sixteen debut. Here’s to the seniors. Here’s to many more games in the gold and blue.

At an alumni event in Orlando. A woman just ran up to take a selfie with the WVU tent. She turns to me and says, full of excitement, “I gotta get a picture for my husband! He was born and raised in Virginia!”
sigh
I mean … they mic’d up Mark Kellogg in the locker room and showed a few seconds at halftime. ESPN was like … “You want the broadcast to talk about WVU? Do it yourself.”

, high school QB is getting a visit from a Pitt coach. He says, “It’s just Pitt. I didn’t even really want to meet with the guy. It’s just Pitt.”
