Vinland Saga doesn't have plot twists. Vinland Saga can't be engaging enough. Etc etc etc. And that's what I like. Because it doesn't care. It literally just wants to tell a story in the way it wants to and doesn't care if it draws in audience. It's upto you at the end.

The biggest example of it can be killing askeladd off so early on in the story. He was a fan favourite but why so early? Because it was necessary for the story. It doesn't care if him being on for 15 more chapters draws in more readers/viewers. If something's required, it's done.

@Fridrr That's why the last 2 arcs have been more disliked, Vinland Saga wants to tell a story, a message. It doesn't try to be anything else. And it's special. It goes where the story should go, regardless of the standards

@Hugo_Navarro_ True. Considering the manga's on its final arc , lets be real , its nothing special as a "final arc". By special I mean what one expects from a finale of a story. But Im still enjoying every bit of it because thats what we want to see at the end. Thats what the story's meant for

@zadkleo It is but normally people want more plot twists and more engagement than what Vinland saga has normally. But yeah that was unexpected.

@_nuh_uh Sometimes I do feel a series tries to create shock value ( as you said "try hard" ) in the name of plot twists which actually sucks and ruins the story. For example the entire kaguya thing in Naruto. That's the one I can think on the top of my head but there are many.

@Fridrr Vinland saga has twists, but they aren’t twists that rely on cheap shit to trick the reader, they’re twists that put the characters in new and interesting situations, that’s why it’s so enjoyable

@Merc9958 True. They aren't there to create unnecessary shock value. I'd say attack on titan is not entirely but in a way similar. Though aot has wayy more plot twists than VS , all of them are not for nothing but to serve a greater purpose for the story. Just like vs.

@Fridrr That‘s why i love Yukimura. He isn‘t scared of writing his manga in the way he likes to. Most mangakas wouldn‘t write farmland arc as he did, cuz they know many people wouldn‘t like it. He is simply goated🐐

@Fridrr Plot twist is important for me, but the more important thing for me is story, and story telling. Which Vinland relly delivered in season 2. It was a pure masterpiece.

@Fridrr Vinland saga is a character driven story. Which means It focuses on characters and expressing their feelings, show their motives and by the time their actions will move the story. It doesn't have to show mystery or plot twists etc.. But some people don't understand this🫤

@Fridrr That's why Vinland Saga is one of the best. I always see "where's the fighting?" or "When does Thorfinn fight again?" Everyone is blind to what this entire season is trying to portray. Either way Vinland Saga is amazing.
