2nd July (1976). The UVF carried out a massacre in the Catholic owned Ramble Inn, killing 5 Protestants and a Catholic. 20% of all the Protestant civilians murdered during the conflict, were murdered by Loyalists.

I recall that massacre well as I knew the sole Catholic murdered Oliver Woulahan. 5 Protestants and 1 Catholic killed in a Catholic owned bar by a group who "took the war to the IRA" apparently.

No one charged or convicted. HET investigation inconclusive?
A relative of one of the victims approached me and said they believed Robin Jackson, The Jackal, was one of the shooters.

February 1975 until February 1976, the Provisional IRA & British Government observed a truce which marked a rise in sectarian tit-for-tat killings.
Ulster's so-called loyalists were in fear they'd be forsaken by the british government & forced into a united Ireland.
