Like many of you, I have continued to have this internal debate... Robbo๐ด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ณ๓ ฃ๓ ด๓ ฟ or Diaz๐จ๐ด for the 3rd LIV spot?
I have gone back and forth in my tinkers quite a bit.
First off, I am not going to compare them one-v-one given the price gap + different positions. ๐ ๐
My debate atm is how to spread the 13 M ๐ทacross a DEF/MID pairing:
๐ดDiaz + 5.0 M DEF (Cash, Tripps, Gabriel, Walker, etc.)
โช๏ธRobbo + 6.0 M mid (Martinelli, Neto, etc.)
The "optimal" pairings are:
๐ดRobbo + Martinelli = 50.3
โช๏ธDiaz + Gabriel = 48.9
๐ดRobbo + Neto = 48.1
โช๏ธDiaz + Walker = 47.9
Hmm, there is not much to choose between here AT ALL eh?! ๐ฌ
So perhaps you think that this thread has been useless ๐ ๐๏ธ ... but wait!!
I am looking at this debate in a different way though... it's opening up the question (for me, at least) who has the greater potential over this relatively short period of time to pop. ๐ฅ
I see many folks saying Robbo will have outscored Diaz by GW38 and using that as a reason to go with Robbo GW1. I agree with the overall point but I don't necessarily agree that this is a great reason to pick Robbo in your first draft.
I look at LIV's early fixtures and hell yeah, I see strong CS potential but I also see them at the top of

's Projected Gs table (2.5 goals per game!).
Based on the projections I have made earlier, here are preliminary projected CS and Goals for the first 6 GWs
Could be an easy visual reference for some early tinkering

Fantastic thread Pete!
When comparing xGI, what would it look like if you include CS%? That might lift Robbo above Diaz right? I ask as a Diaz owner
Diaz was only behind Salah and Mane in %xGI and we see he was pretty reliable (GI ~= xGI)... while Robbo outperformed his xGI

in the last few GWs of the season and on the season on a whole (xGI 8.7, GI 14) - much higher than in previous seasons.

Really good thread! The other factor in the equation would be the 5.0 def vs 6.0 mid debate. Does seem like the former offers you a whoooole lot more flexibility. Apart from Martinelli, Neto, and possibly Bruno G, not much value there for now...

Great work !! Such an interesting thread!! I will go with robo because I think he will play for sure more minutes. Goals will be splitted but cs are for every defender even if he doesn't play well . In addition to that robo could take huge bonus points plus his xgi are respectful
