I feel bad for Hailey Van Lith. She was brought in as All-American. She never has single play drawn for her. Asked to defend the best player in the country with little or no help, & the second she makes a mistake offensively she gets yanked. How could she have any confidence?

To HS football players: When all the female athletes come out & support you on the field all fall, make sure you do the same for them during their seasons. Also, they give YOU the attention at your games, at their games it’s 100% about THEM, cheer them on as they will for you.

Sick of seeing great High School coaches stepping down. There’s going to come a point where no coach can last more than 5 years because of parental interference and administrators without the backbone to fend them off.

Neighbor girls are shooting hoops. As one shoots she yells "Maya Moore". @MooreMaya , not LeBron, not Kobe, not Jordan, not any male player, she yelled "Maya Moore" & then knocked down her jumper. Don't know about you, but to me that's a win for Women's Hoops. I was so happy!

Dear Basketball Mom or Dad: Put down the camera for a game and just relax and watch with amazement as your child plays the game they love. They won’t mind if 1 game goes unfilmed. Treat your eyes to a game, you’ll never regret it!

Someday I want to host a huge AAU event, with a shot clock, 10 minute quarters, and absolutely, 100% ban zones. College Coaches would flock from miles around to see if some of these zone-only players could actually guard anyone.

Just wanted everyone to know I suffered a stroke last week. Luckily I went to hospital immediately & am doing better. I do plan to attend our Elite Exposure Camp Wed. as well as the @AllIowaAttack Tournament of Champions in Des Moines. Blessed I got in early & had great doctors.

Ended 2020 in the ER following another stroke. Being alone in there & not knowing I’d be ok gives perspective on life. Hopefully I’ll leave the hospital soon & see all of you on the hoops trail at some point in 2021! Make sure to always tell those you love how much you love them!

8 States use the Shot Clock. 8 States currently have what 50 states will in time. The shot clock is not cost prohibitive (ND/SD prove that), it provides a better flow to the ENTIRE game & is natural progression that ALL higher levels already incorporate. Grow along with the game!

Ridiculous that some people want an apology out of Adia Barnes. I’ve seen 100x worse from Tom Izzo and Coach K but no one would even consider asking them the same question. Let women have some intensity, it’s ok and her team LOVED the emotion behind her gesture.

One thing parents needs to look at in an AAU program more is the coach they'll be playing for. What is his/her level of coaching experience OUTSIDE of AAU. You want to know your child is going to be developed as a player, if you're not learning anything new, you're not improving.

Officials shortage has led to some MN games being rescheduled tonight. If you abuse officials, knock it off! This is only going to get more prevalent until parents realize a HS ticket is not a ticket to abuse officials. I can tell you as a neutral observer, they do a good job!

If you're a HS Coach, PLEASE use every resource you can to promote kids. Get stats to MNBasketballhub, wissports, bound, Maxpreps, anywhere you can. It's about promoting kids. The game has changed, it's not about hiding info from opponents, it's about opening doors for players.

Girls hoopers: the late July viewing period is the time when I see, by far, the most ACL injuries occur. Please make sure your body is getting enough sleep, enough liquids, enough down time and plenty of stretching (with focus on ACL prevention) before each & every game!

The WNBA should consider expansion, but do it in proven College towns with Women’s fan bases. Think Ames or Iowa City couldn’t host a WNBA team and draw 10,000+? Don’t have to link them to NBA cities, link them to proven women’s hoops supporters.

Honestly surprised more kids don’t take the JUCO route if there goal is eventually get to Division 1. Good chance to play from Day 1, polish your skill set and advance to D1 when you’re more ready. A lot of D1s know a JUCO kid can fill a need right away.

One thing you'll notice about some of the top club programs. Their coaches go and support the other teams in their programs consistently, always at each others games. Also, their Directors are going court to court following all their teams and showing how much they care.

One of my pet peeves is that all the Tournament Men’s games have staggered starts and the Women’s games don’t. Why can’t we stagger Women’s starts so we can all see more games/parts of games like the Men’s side?
