How we make cheap, super-lightweight, strong gaming boards: A Thread. 1) Buy a cheap "egg box" style door - typically 3mm ply skinned over a card honeycomb. Cut to required size (here we made 2' squares) - jigsaw will do the job, we used a tablesaw. You're left with edges like:

Apropos of nothing, this shot from Conan the Destroyer reminds me of a trick we used to do *all the time* in TV advertising #modelmaking . Also notably used for much of the hive interiors of the atmosphere processor in Aliens. No school like old school !

John Carter is an amazing looking film. So disappointing that it didn't make the numbers needed for more. I remember coming out of the cinema feeling the same way I felt first seeing Star Wars as a kid. Really put the books of my childhood front and centre onscreen.
