I need Batswana to remember that they’re suffering bc of politicians. Every time you buy petrol, every time you can’t find veggies in the shop, every time you buy electricity and the units are half the of the price you paid. Remember the your leaders.
So a man sued Diddy for sexually assaulting him and instead of having *THAT* chat abt male victims y’all (read men) chose to focus on making gay jokes, yet tomorrow you’ll be the same lot going “bUT mEn geT AssAulteD Too, nO oNe cArES aBoUT uS😢”? Yah neh?
2022 God showed me he is for me. My ancestors showed me they are with me. Here’s to getting a Master’s in Intellectual Property and Development Policy. ❤️🇰🇷🇧🇼

It’s very clear from your response that you’re not well informed on the subject (if at all). I’d advise you seek understanding in earnest as opposed to coming at me sideways, 🙂.
Now that that’s out of the way, let ME indulge YOU. (1/x)

I had no idea where my life would go. I had made the decision that I would take a gap year to figure out what I wanted to do in the next phase of my life. I looked for things that made me happy and learned to be comfortable with my journey not looking like the “normal”
I enjoy leaning heavily into the new year energy. Allowing myself to feel like anything is possible. Allowing myself to feel renewed. Whatever comes next, wherever the year goes, that’s always a good place to start. 🤍
Whenever we have these chats about being careful on social media, I mourn the fact that it’s ALWAYS people’s liberties being held at ransom. No one is talking about how corporates SHOULDNT be policing people in that way in the first place! Corporates must be held accountable too!
Setswana is such a contextual language. I’m thinking of how “go keteka” could either mean to beat or to celebrate depending on the speaker’s intended meaning 🤣
Ending the year on a high note 🥳 with a scholarship from the World Intellectual Property Organization
@WIPO
. Looking forward to sharpening my skills over the next year and becoming a better IP practitioner.
Now that SOE is over, I really don’t want to hang out/meet up with people who are going to be going all out as if we’re not unvaccinated in a pandemic. Sorry but definitely not sorry. I’m trying to stay alive.
Reminder that sexual and gender diversity are inherently African and if your ideas of or Pan-Africanism exclude LGBTQI+/Queer Africans you are in fact not Pan-African. ❤️
I will never forget the time
@ShoMadjozi
said she was in a club in Kenya and they played Huku, when she said “That’s my song!” the person next to her said “girl me too 🕺🏿”
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Twitter is an equalizer. It creates direct engagement that often challenges power. That’s something they’re not comfortable with. They prefer being “bagolo” on pedestals who can only be questioned when they allow it.
I don’t get it? Batswana are asking for “internal change” from the opposition in order to vote for it, but will vote for BDP without BDP having done any “internal change”? Something isn’t adding up here.
THREAD: We've all heard the story of "El Negro", some in more detail than others. I'm sharing this thread today both. I've been posting about an upcoming exhibition-concert called "Ancestor". This is the painful story behind it's conception.

We should be worried that police are adopting a “shoot to kill” policy, especially when we don’t know how far it’s application will go. It could quickly result in the deaths of innocent civilians. Unchecked, it easily becomes a culture and we end up with situations like the U.S
Happy to announce my appointment as a 2023 correspondent for the Korea-Africa Foundation where I will be reporting on various key issues in Botswana. My work is geared towards contributing to bridging the knowledge gap about Botswana, + to building relations between BW and SK
The problem with being someone who is so genuine in what you do/say is you tend to think that everyone else is also being genuine in what they do/say. 😩
Yandani Boko’s expectation that Peggy Serame should have done more about access to baby clothing because she’s woman sexist! That room has more fathers in it and they’ve all done nothing.
Welcome to

, where a man who was implicated in the molestation of a child gets appointed Minister in charge of children’s education. But hey,
#EsengMoNgwaneng
right? 🙃
My take is it’s colonial trauma. Cultures in tropical/hot climates historically rested when the heat was high and worked in the mornings and evenings. But colonisers from cold climates expected/forced us to work throughout theday, labelling anyone who wanted rest as lazy/bad
My mom went to see her GP yesterday for a check up. She just called to tell me apparently he died last night from Covid complications. He was fine and attending to her just a few hours earlier. I don’t even know how to make sense of this thing anymore.

Not really. You probably think so because ‘successful’ gay people are the ones we get to see being most visible (probably because money/power affords them that comfort). Most gay people live ordinary lives across all walks of life, and suffer the struggles just same.
Basically;
-he uses a derogatory term for anal sex between men
-he asks if “all hell must break loose” for LGBTQ people to realize that “Batswana” don’t agree with them
-he later says being LGBTQ is a non-African, European agenda

One of the best decisions I made this year was to treat people based on who they show me they want to be in my life. I no longer use up my hope, or work to help people to be/treat me better. They are who they show me they are and that’s just that.
I’ve been attacked by robbers three times in my life. One involved two knives to my throat. So the “you don’t get it” responses are silly. +This is NOT about sympathising w/ robbers, it’s about ensuring that we don’t create a culture where we normalize murder by the state. THINK
LET’S NOT FORGET:
Fidelis Molao, now appointed Minister of Basic Education, is the one who was working with Amon to cover up the fact that Amon impregnated an UNDERAGE SCHOOL CHILD.
Ba re “Batswana ba lebala ka pele.”
Honestly, even if they did then so what? We should be way past this moralization by now. Having multiple partners doesn’t make anyone less human nor any less deserving of protection from stigma/discrimination
My grandma says it’s named that way because long ago, the women of the area had to walk far to get water. They then had to use their skirts “go garela” (make a supporting base for) the water pots on their heads. It became known as “Tsola mosese o garele”.
