So my Japan Permanent Visa was approved officially today. It took less than 5 months once everything was submitted, which is a lot faster than the 10-12 months I was told to expect. Feels good🇯🇵🍣🍶🎊🗾⛩🗼🗻😎

Pull quote: ‘But Comey and others inside the FBI and the DOJ during his tenure still face legal jeopardy in ongoing probes by the IG and Barr-appointed special prosecutor John Durham’ - justice should not be decided by the optics of what would look ‘petty’ or not.
I got ‘nihongo-jozu’d’ today but the taxi driver really meant it! Mid-trip he turned around as until then he thought I was 日本人! He said I sounded like a Tokyo native. Idle chit-chat followed and I hope I met his expectation! So that was nice. 👍🏻🇯🇵😎
I noticed that ham operator 5W1SA in Samoa is operating today. That’s about 900km from the volcano/tsunami near Tonga. I’ll keep an eye open for hams with A35xx call sign in Tonga itself. Hope everyone there is OK.

Just had an SSB voice contact with CX4DI in Uruguay on 40meters. He has 1kW power into a 2 element yagi antenna and he reported my little 100watt signal from Tokyo as 55. Cool! This is my first SSB contact with anyone outside of Asia!

These balcony views are too nice not to share. I think I like it here👍🏻😎. A bit spartan until the rest of my move deliveries come tomorrow. But still nice!
My new location seems good for ham radio! 17m contacts with Colombia, Iceland and Texas, USA just now. All with a Diamond HK16CL vertical antenna mounted on the northwest balcony railing.

The Icom IC-705 was stuck on transmit after power-on. Finally after a full reset and some other fiddling around with battery and such I was able to get back on the air. Beautiful morning otherwise.

Went to Tokyu Hands and got some bamboo poles for the wire antenna attached to the Icom AH-730. Later logged the Tuvalu DXpedition (they don’t appear to be sending RR73 but in past experience they always log anyone they call).

UN HQ in New York has diplomatic rights afforded by treaty, but even there most federal, state and local laws are followed within the compound under various agreements. I don’t think merely renting space for an event gives the UN any special status.
It’s my birthday today🎂😎. And as a surprise my dad sent my grandfather’s Wurlitzer C-melody saxophone! It’s at least 100 years old and fully refurbished. I played Alto (E-flat) for many years. Will have to see if I can play this one!🎷
Antenna experiments with a 10m long telescoping carbon-fibre fishing pole supporting an 8 AWG copper strand wire connected to the Icom AH-730 tuner. With a bit more I should have it optimised. Initial results are promising👍🏻😎

Fighting off jet lag and back on-air from Japan. Club station OG0C in Aland Islands has been quite active recently and I could finally make contact with them.

I’m in Detroit for my nephew’s wedding. Heavy snow has slowed down things and I’m the first guest at The Whitney for the rehearsal dinner. Nice place! And the snow is beautiful from the cozy inside. ❄️🍷😎
