Regardless of anything else she did, we should never forget that she voted to hand the 2000 election to George W. Bush just so that she could retire and be replaced by a conservative.

>have a close call in 2020
>win a very different new district in 2022
>terrible things seem to happen to people in your way
>run statewide essentially unopposed in what should be competitive primaries
WHOA! The Supreme Court's final decision of the day is a 5โ4 ruling that AFFIRMS the Voting Rights Act's protection against racial vote dilution! Roberts and Kavanaugh join the liberals. This is a HUGE surprise and a major voting rights victory.
>Declines to run for senate, handing that seat to the Democrats
>Vetos the Republican gerrymander of the congressional map, putting both seats in play
>Fails to get his hand picked candidates through their primaries
>Retires immediately
This lawsuit is brutal. The petitioners want new maps AND they want the WI SC to cut all of the senate terms short, meaning that the entire legislature will be up in 2024.
NEW: We've obtained a copy of the brief filed today with the Wisconsin Supreme Court by

challenging the state's legislative maps. The case argues that the maps violate the state constitution as unlawful partisan gerrymanders. Read it here:

I donโt have a strong opinion of her either for or against. But the idea that if she announced her retirement that the GOP would let her seat be filled before the election is laughable.
In hindsight, this 2012 Rachel Maddow monologue feels fairly profoundโshe notices many of the undercurrents in the GOP that foreshadow their later extreme rightward turn.
I genuinely believe that the entire red wave narrative was manufactured. The polling averages 21 days out were all correct within two points, which is eerie.

Generally think DeSantis is currently overrated in both primary and general election polling because very few people have actually seen a video of him speaking.
