I took an expensive BA flight to come back home and vote. Please Nigerians, remain at your base until you vote next weekend. Dont travel and take risks. Work remotely if you can, and see this as an investment for next four years. Dont be angry, remain calm!

Can you imagine if all girls in Africa complete 12 years of secondary education? Africa will stop being the continent with highest maternal mortality, child mortality, poor immunization, poor child spacing and nutrition and hospital attendance. This can be done if you decide to🤝

Mr President, Senate President, Mr Speaker, Hon Minister of Health. Between the four of you lies the decision whether or not to stop the destruction of the lives of young men and women in Nigeria. Ban cough syrup with codeine. It does not cure cough. It creates addicts.
Medical practitioners know that cough syrup do not cure cough. We call for a ban on cough syrup with codeine in Nigeria. Millions of young lives are wasted in addiction especially in Northern Nigeria. Send to your Rep in NASS
Today is 67 days since the inauguration of Fed Gov committee on use of codeine. There is still no report or action. What does it take to ban cough syrup with codeine even after trucks load were caught in Funtua last month. England & India have banned cough syrup with codeine
Now that I am coming out of the shock of the recent massacre of Zabarmari farmers & the insulting media release by Shehu Garba, I ask with tears, where are the Nigerian civil society? Is the civil society quiet on the government bcos these people are less human?

It appears the lockdown in Nigeria has some impact. In the two weeks before the lockdown, the average daily increase in new Covid 19 cases was around 42%.
Since the start of the lockdown, the average daily increase has been around 4%. We need to be patient and do the needful🙏💪
On Monday 30th April 2018 at 11pm NTA will be showing the most explosive documentary on the use of cough syrup with codeine in Nigeria. Please tune to NTA national station. Share will all family &friends, retweet and tag all concerns especially governors, PMB and NASS members.
The future of any country deends on the quality of its young people. About 70% of young men and 35% of young people in Kano abuse drugs. This is similar to Katsina & Kaduna states. The first step to addressing this menace is a ban on Benylin with Codein.
I have tried to keep my calm in politics but in Kaduna governorship election, I am too excited to be quiet. A female deputy governor from core Northern Nigeria is the first. I call on all females and men that have sisters, wives, mums & daughters to come out and vote for HER👍
My Nigeria is too important to be destroyed by opportunists & hate speeches. Let's stay focused on finding ways to live peacefully; respect each other & accept our differences. Contribute by NOT retweet or share any negative posts & hate speeches. Share your good stories
When the codeine addicts moves to the next level, and in large enough numbers, everyone will be affected. He/She may drive and hit you dead, break into your house, hit your loved one dead on the street and more. Then it would be too late. Do what you can today b4 its too late
Dear President Buhari, Congratulations for having the opportunity to write your name in gold in history. You have another opportunity to unite Nigerians, create jobs to stop kidnapping and get a ticket for heaven when the time comes. Leadership is not power, it is trust from God

I am honoured today that Unity Bank of Nigeria celebrated Mairo Mandara as their woman of the 2021 IWD. They donated of 1M to GCC which will be used for IDP girls at GCC Girls Academy Maiduguri. We request Unity bank to sponsor at least 10 girls to complete Secondary school
A neuropsychiatrist just shared with a brilliant idea. That Pharmaceutical companies found to have perpetrated the codein addiction should be made to pay for establsihment & equiping rehabilitation centres in designated cities with high burden of codeine addicts
@IsaacFAdewole

Today we are in Notre Dame Univ celebrating the graduation of 4 young ladies. In 2015, GCC was tasked by Gov Shettima to take care of the first 55 abducted Chibok girls that escaped. We also had 25 young girls from the Jonah Jang Plateau communal crises. 4 of these are graduating

I am excited. I was informed that the Senate is taking up the issue of Drug Abuse in Nigeria Thank you Mr Senate President. Mr speaker, we need a ban on Cough Syrup with codein; it is destroying Nigerian youth and future. Send to your Reps in both champers.
As I reflect on my life, the one thing that stands out for me after life itself is the gift of education my parents, community & gov gave me growing up. It is the most precious gift we can give any child esp girls. We can come together & ensure all children get this gift of life
There is a Hausa proverb that translates roughly as ' When you dig a ditch of evil, make it shallow ( for you never know if you will end up falling into it)'. Being silent about drug abuse does not make you immuned from the impact. Trek carefully
#BanCodeineNija
will be bringing together all concerned individuals and groups to ensure Nigeria bans cough syrup with codeine as has been done by the UK and India. No young person should be destroyed by addiction of cough syrup with codeine in Nigeria. Enough is Enough🤛
At about 1pm today, I received my first dose of AstraZeneca/Oxford vaccine. Will keep you posted on how I am doing. As a physician, I know there are "normal" side effects of any vaccine with no cause for alarm- fever & pain at site of injection. My 1st Hour- No reactions 👍
How long do we have to wait? How many young lives need to be wasted before the Nigerian gov bans cough syrup with codeine. 51 days since a committee was set up. No report, no action. Do we need to go on the streets to have our children saved? Who gaining or being paid?
#BanCodeineNija
The full documentary is out. Organize viewing sessions and discuss how to move forward with the next steps; rehabilitation, controlling other addictive drugs like Tramadol, and the new wave of crack cocaine in Nigeria. This is our country

The launch of Borno State 25 years development plan and 10 years strategic ttansformation Initiative has juat started. Join us on Zoom and NTA. Our Borno, Our Success
Muslim leaders in Nigeria need to proactive. How can Imams lead mass prayers & risk the lives of thousands of people. JNI, & Supreme Council for Islamic affairs need to give daily briefings & admonitions. Any Imam that endanger the lives of others should be sued in a sharia court
If i had a magic wane, i will wave it on all youth in Nigeria to wake up to the reality that their future is in their hands. Young people, take charge of your lives and begin to organize. If u wait, you will gamble your future. You dont get what you deserve but what you negotiate
On 11th Oct 2019, young girls supported by boys, religious & trad leaders & women groups across Nigeria are organizing a 1Million Girls March to School campain for free & compulsory basic and senior secondary education. You can organize one in ur community. We will share How!!!
Today i was inspired by the presentations from young men and women
@TEDxShehuri
. Speakers from Lagos did not show up at the last minute bcos they are afraid. In the end, their absence truely gave limelight to the amazing young people. I am so proud of you & I learnt alot.
I am always inspired by the Emir of Kano Muhammadu Sanusi II. The way to better our future is to acknowledge our reality & make efforts to improve every day. That I am priviledged to be educated, & have food is not good enough. What is good is when all around me have same.
Yesterday I understood when people say women are somtimes their own worst enemies. Women in Kano organized a rally to urge the senate to push for action on drug abuse. The Kano comm women affairs called many & urged them not come out- that it will put her in trouble politically
I have questions bothering me. Pls help me find answers. What is the Covid Protocol at the NIN/ID card registration points? Would Nigeria come to an end if we wait to do this after our 2nd Covid wave? From the pix, this mass NIN registration chaos could increase Covid 19. HELP😭
Gov Abubakar Bello of Niger state showed exemplary leadership today on the train from Abj to Kaduna. He walked across 5 couches with no security to make sure things are done right. He ensured respect for the rule of law even on a train. Thank you Gov Bello
@abulolo99
Keep it UP
The National Assembly, NDLEA, pharmaceutical society of Nigeria and Nigerian Medical Association can stop the epidemic of Drug Addiction if they chose to do the right thing by banning cough syrup with codein in Nigeria. This is only a first step. Urge them to do the right thing
Can you imagine if all girls in Africa finish secondary school & in the process learn life & livelihood skills? Finish with GCE & skills to earn a living as phone or computer technician, caterer, photographer, make up artist? It can done when we support
#GirlsInSchoolAfrica
DSG Amina Mohammed did iftar last night with Syrian refugee family in Istanbul. Her comment was "Very humbling, we all need to promote peaceful co existance and dialogue where ever we are in the world. All children deserve to grow and thrive in peace" Yes We All Can
Wow, today I will have my first tweetchat on the important issue of girls education in Africa. Girls education is key to improving maternal & child health & the development of the continent. A win -win investment for men & women. Thats what makes me who I am! Join me 4pm today!
The abuse of cough syrup with codein is a national issue not a northern phenomenon. Cough syrup does not cure; it supresses the symptom which must complete its life cycle if caused by a virus &needs antibiotics if caused by bacteria. Take lots of warm water, honey and lemon
This strike by resident doctors is most insensitive decision i've witnessed in my over 30 yrs as a Dr. All Drs not work where there are no PPE. To have a union driven strike in the most needy time of humanity is betrayal of hippocratic oat.
What do you think about Resident Doctors of Nigeria commencing a nationwide strike during the Covid 19 pandemic after the expiration of the 14 days ultimatum given to the Federal Government. The strike is total and indefinite.
@DrMairoMandara
Tomorrow Fri 4th May at Nile University Abuja 10am , discussion will start on how we can together deal with the menace pf drug abuse in our country. Please attend the documetary viewing and discussion and share your ideas with other concerned Nigerian. Together we can make change
I find it difficult to comprehend that there are people who think girls education has no value. The data in every country show that girls education not only imporve health & economic development, it improves family's wellbeing. This is a fundamental human right not for arguement
